Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 43) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Dear Inna (@ Comment #536),
I'm going to try the Opcon-A, as Walmart also suggested the product. I want to try it before I start using my final bottle of Visine LR.
I also used Visine LR for many years, since right after OcuClear was discontinued.
When you're used to using a certain eye drop every single day and then it is suddenly taken away, it's a real downer. You feel like you lost something that helps you feel and look your best. I'm just glad to hear that some of you have found a good replacement. I really hope Opcon-A works for me too.
Many of the other useless eye drops actually make your eyes look and feel worse.
momsasaynt,
Thank you for that quick response. There are very FEW eye drops that truly work.
woow!! noo wonder! I really go crazy looking for my eyes drops! I just looked on ebay and those drops cost over $150.00 just one .5mm bt. that its a very good business ! can`t believe they do that ! I really need my LR VISINE, I too had 20 different kinds of drops and not one helped me, only visine Lr Long Lasting so some one can do something ??? hellooo!! business !!! Corporate !!! Rhonda we have same problem ! god !!!
Hello everyone! Read my post below regarding Opcon A. It is the perfect alternative for Visine LR. It will keep the redness out promise. We can all use it until Visine LR restocks again I the shelves lol.
Rtrsr,
Great idea! I have contacted CVS customer service on your advice as well basically asking them about Allergex. I will let you know if I hear anything from them. Please keep us posted if you get a response also.
Where are you currently at?
Thank you for your efforts,
Christina
I tried the Afrin and water, instead of Afrin I used equate walmarts brand. I still can't believe it works great, no more red eyes. Walmarts brand was only $1.99. So long Visine LR. I looked all weekend at all the stores and no success so I tried looking at Visine prouducts on line, Wow and I found the answer. Equate has the same amount of Oxymetazoine as Afrin.
Are you saying you used Equate Nasal Spray instead of Afrin?
If so, the ingredients in the Equate Nasal Spray are:
Phenylephrine Hydrochloride/Benzalkonium Chloride/Benzyl Alcohol/Boric Acid/Sodium Borate/Water
Traci @ #604,
My experience was different. My eyes didn't sting when I used the B+L eye drops, but by the afternoon, they didn't feel exactly normal. I can tell there is a lubricant in the eye drops. They don't feel irritated, but just not as refreshed as they do with the Visine LR and, of course, my eyes still look somewhat irritated, red and tired. This is definitely not a good look for me. I don't know what I'm going to do if something isn't done--soon!
Honestly, today my eyes were never white. This is really frustrating! If all I had were these B+ L eye drops, I wouldn't want anyone to see me. Seriously. It's such a humongous difference.
Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief works fairly well. I use it 2 times a day. Its not LR, but it is much better than any of the other Visine products. Its crazy how good LR was!
I'm writing my letters again. I wrote a few already this week. Today, I'll be writing Walgreens. I know some of you have contacted Walgreens already, but I think Walgreens hearing from additional consumers can only help. I'll continue to direct these companies/pharmacies to this website. Hopefully, they will see what some of us are resorting to (using nasal sprays) just to have a solution containing oxymetazoline. I personally believe the nasal sprays could be very dangerous and, hopefully, one of these companies will care and see how important Visine LR was to us.
Rhonda an MissVisineLR,
I contacted Bayer back in November last year as they are the makers of Afrin.
Let me know if you hear from them. At that time, they thanked me for the comment/request to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline but essentially that was all they said.
Thanks to you both and everyone who is actively helping to find a solution!
It works very well! Visine tears 0.5/oz diluted 50% with Afrin original 0.5/oz. Visine tears is buffered for ph for the eyes and only contains lubricants and no antihistamine or decongestant has been added. Adding the oxymetazoline reduces active ingredient interaction. I am not a chemist, doctor, or anyone related to the pharmaceutical industry. This is only a personal finding.
This Does Work,
It's true that nothing is completely sterile, but it seems that there might be an "allowed" amount of bacteria in eye products that still renders them safe. That's similar to the foods we eat. They have traces of rat droppings, insects, etc from the factories and machinery that produce them, but it's a safe amount that will not make us ill or die.
It's just that (at least in my case) I'm not willing to take the chance with my eyes. If I lose my sight, it's gone for good and it would devastate my life.
Can you please let me know the process you use for mixing the afrin with the artificial tears. I'm going to try it
Rhonda,
How did you find the information? The Visine representative for Walgreens was still trying to contact her "inside" colleagues to confirm this for me. But she did seem to think that the last time I talked with her that J & J was not going to bring Visine LR back nor were they contemplating creating another product with oxymetazoline. :(
I did contact Bayer as I said in the past and basically they just thanked me for the idea of asking them to create an eyedrop with oxymetazoline. Let me know what you hear from them.
For those new to this thread, here is a link to a petition to Prestige Brands, the makers of Nostrilla, a nasal spray with oxymetazoline currently on the market, asking them to make an eyedrop with the same ingredient:
change.org/p/prestige-brands-please-make-eyedrops-with-oxymetazoline
Thanks Rhonda and all here sharing information.
Thanks for the update, Rhonda.
You're welcome, Tony!
Hoping I hear from another company today. I'm starting a new job soon, one that I hope I can keep until the end, and I am feeling a bit insecure and nervous about not having my oxymetazoline eye drops. I want to look my very best and make a good impression.
"PLEASE" Don't buy the LR from the '(GOUGERS)' Sorry, "Dbags". The expiration dates will be running out soon! They'll have nowhere to sell and not be held accountable for sale beyond that date. Any argument to this statement only provides evidence that these jerks are following this string! It upsets me that people would actually pull this kind of crap.
