Thanks. I see the B&L Max has a lubricant in it. I think I will give it a try. I still have a full bottle of LR, but I am treating that like gold right now. Sigh.

I mixed another dose of Afrin and Visine tears (50/50) vs. the Afrin + purified water. The result is great. No very slight burn at all. Again, I cannot emphasize enough of how good this works. And, if Visine is not going to bring their product back it is their loss. Thanks to all who have posted on here with the working alternative. My eyes appreciate being clear! As a note, I did try Clear eyes maximum redness relief, and it worked some, but not like the Afrin. Wish you all the best.

Just checking in. I've written about all my letters last week. I hope I get some responses. We really need these oxymetazoline eye drops.

I spoke to Visine yesterday and the rep said that they are considering bringing LR back however there are "manufacturing complexities"....Whatever that means. It just makes no sense to me why they would discontinue the only product they manufacturer, that actually works.

Eg. Use a clear bottle of Visine tears. Place a mark on the outside where the bottle is full. Remove the top and pour out < half the bottle. Pour the Afrin into the Visine bottle up to the mark. Done.

Guys, I'm looking into investing in a custom Oxymetazoline eye drop product - either from overseas or locally produced in the USA. I don't want to waste my time and money if there is no interest , however. If you would be interested in such a product - please let me know.

Just wanted to let others know that the combo of Afrin and Artificial tears worked perfect for me.

I signed Christina's petition and was content to wait this out, but now I am on my last bottle of VLR so I knew I would need to try something.

Tried the BL Advanced Eye Relief Redness Maximum Relief and it worked but not nearly as long.

As far as the Afrin+Artificial Tears combo, I have had NO side effects and even though I didn't think my eyes needed the lubricant, this combo actually makes my eyes more comfortable. I did one part Afrin (12 hour, red and white bottle) to two parts Artificial tears. There is no sting and it works the same as VLR. I popped the cap off both products (wore gloves and worked in a clean environment) and poured out some of the artificial tears then added the Afrin. Waaa laaaa.

I am one that has bought nearly every brand at one time or another just looking for something that compares, and this truly is the easiest and most effective substitute.

I have seen several bottles with 9/15 expiration dates turning up. It seems 5/15 exp was the last batch that hit stores. Wonder where these seemingly new found bottles are originating from?

I'm so done. I'll be checking in here from time time to see if anything new has popped up on the market. Until then, I'll just try to get the right amount of sleep, wear minimal mascara on my eyelashes, and continue with B + L Maximum Redness Relief.

My final precious bottle of Visine LR is about 3/4 gone. I use it only when necessary.

I need to win a lottery or really big money. Then I would go into business and create a few items: some inventions (stuck in my creative head) and Oxymetazoline eye drops.

The forum has gone silent. Does this mean all hope is lost?

I use oxylin liquifilm for about a half year now and it's the same as lr. I'm from Holland and I get it from my doctor.

I think everyone on this thread is mixing too much Afrin with their generic artificial tear drops. I only use about 25 to 75% ratio Afrin to tears and still get a great result. Anymore than that however, and it burns my eyes.

Hey all, I've been using the Clear Eyes 12 hour Maximum Redness Relief since they discontinued LR and remain satisfied. Good luck in finding a product that works for you.

Rhonda,

Yes, you have done your part and I personally thank you! I believe I also have done everything I possibly could to try to get any manufacturer to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline. I begged Johnson and Johnson to bring Visine LR back with petitions and repeated phone calls and emails. I have written to companies large and small with pleas to make a substitute eye drop for Visine LR explaining that there isn't anything available in the US market currently to replace it and that they would have a faithful consumer base. NOTHING! I will continue to reach out to companies that I haven't contacted yet but truly am losing all hope. I continue to use B&L but again it doesn't work nearly as well as Visine LR had for me.

My sincere appreciation to all who use this forum for communicating ideas and recommendations.

READ THIS! I used LR for years (15-20) and having been going crazy since it went bye-bye. I finally found Cendo - trust me, this stuff has made my eyes as clear and smooth as they used to be with LR, it is godsend. Expensive because the bottles are small, but WELL WORTH IT!!!! I bought a tester 4 pack of Cendo, Zoamet, Allergex and Oxylin for about $100 - which is not cheap, but is a great start. I didn't really like Zoamet or Allergex (but didn't really give them a proper chance yet, which I will eventually), the Oxylin isn't too bad, but the Cendo is awesome. Bought a 4-pack of Cendo, packages always delivered in 2 days (NJ to MD). Bring back LR!

I agree with you about the B&L Advanced Care. I'm perfectly satisfied with this alternative, and I also get the two-pack at Walmart. I have a two bottle stock of Allergex that I like to use on occasion, especially when I have a long day into the night... but I use it sparingly.

hahahaha! that's ok. I'm sometimes called Lisa. (I must not speak to clearly when I introduce myself as Traci ) and ok- thank you for your help with this!!! I have 1/4 bottle left of Cendo that I am treating like gold. In fact, probably better than gold. lol

There is a new product on the market which was just approved by the FDA. The first manufacturer with the new ingredient is Bausch and Lomb although I expect other manufacturers will follow soon.

The new ingredient is brimonidine tartrate (0.025%).

The product name is LUMIFY and the B&L website says this: "significantly reduces redness to help your eyes look whiter and brighter. Recently approved by the FDA, LUMIFY is the first over the counter eye drop to contain the active ingredient brimonidine tartrate (0.025%).

LUMIFY works differently than other redness relievers by selectively targeting redness, maintaining the flow of blood and oxygen to the eye, and alleviating some of the potential side effects common to redness relievers - rebound redness and loss of effectiveness over time."

If anyone has tried it, please post your results here!

Re: Todd (# 999) Expand Referenced Message

I just actually bought Lumify today and came here to see if anyone else has used it. I will come back with my review in a day or so. I hope this works as I was down to my last allergex bottle with a mere few drops left.

It’s the same ingredient in NASAL SPRAY Oxymetazoline ?? Look it up on Wikipedia/Google or go to Target or Walmart online and search for Oxymetazoline.

Buy the Nasal Spray that you squeeze and sniff. 1 drop is .050% equivalent to 2 drops of Visine LR which has .025%

I suppose if you normally only use 1 drop at a time you could dilute it 1:1 with Saline in a sterile container.

I buy Equate Maximum Strength Nasal Spray, Fast Powerful Congestion Relief For Colds and Allergies, 1 Fluid Ounce Is $1.88 at Walmart. This size is equivalent to 2 bottles of Visine Eye drops which are .5 oz
