Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 29) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Here is a link to Visine Workplace which, as Jessie stated, contains the same active ingredient and dosage. This is an over the counter product so it should be okay to import into the United States.
Yes Roy you are correct. I live in New Jersey and there were no problems with delivery.
Tracy, are you a chemist? You are providing bad advice. Do you even know what Polyethylene Glycol, Povidone, Propylene Glycol is? As I stated earlier, a safe substitute exists so anyone looking for Visine LR should buy Visine Workplace. Do not put nose drops in your eyes regardless how diluted you make it.
For those of you who have ordered the Visine Workplace from Canada,
have you experienced any problems?
Regarding Tracy's substitute recipe, I would be FAR more concerned about the Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydrochloride in the eye wash product than Polyethelyne/Propylene Glycol. The glycols are already found in many eye drop products. But Sodium Hydrochloride is Lye--drain opener. And HCl? Stomach acid. Either one on its own would burn a hole right through the eye ball and halfway through the brain. Why they are ingredients of an eye wash product in the first place is an unfathomable mystery to me.
Christina, I ordred 6 bottles of workplace and recieved it in 5 days. the ingredients are the same as our beloved VLR and I have been using it for 2 days with no problems.
As soon as I get the Visine Workplace from Canada, I will let everyone know. I will be able to tell almost immediately if its the same formula. I'm sure it is. It was shipped yesterday, and they say to allow 2 weeks for delivery.
Mike, they told me 2 weeks and it came in 5 days. I opened it up as soon as it came and compaired it to my vlr and it is the same stuff. I've been using it as I always did and I see no difference.
Jessie, Just curious...what was the expiration date on the bottles you got from Canada? The last few times I bought the LR here, the expiration date was less than a year away...which led me to believe they weren't selling very well and maybe that was the reason we aren't seeing them anymore (even though everyone is saying that Visine says its a distribution problem).
OK, kids. I called VISINE again TODAY. They said there was a problem with the suppliers of the active ingredient. They have since gone to another manufacturer, which had to clear customs. He said they have increased production and hope to have VISINE LR back on the shelves in the middle of next month. He again reiterated that the product is NOT BEING DISCONTINUED. Just throwing this information out there.
I am still looking for other sources.
Someone has put one on Ebay starting at around $6.00 with a 5 day auction.
Wow, I never realized that so many people were dependent an their Visine L.R., just like me. I hae hopped around all over LA in search of THE STUFF, to no avail. I feel you all...WTF
Kim, I agree. It has a cult following. HAHA.
My dad and I are both Visine L.R. enthusiasts. He has made a smooth transition to Visine Multi-Symptom but I hate the stuff. I wear contacts and have overactive blood vessels in my eyes, and only L.R. worked for the problem.
As soon as I realized how sparse the product was in the U.S., I posted at a social board that I have been a member of since I was a teen (I'm 23 now), and one of the gals works at Rite Aid and shipped me over a bottle of clearance-marked Visine L.R.! :] I'm slightly tempted to sell it on eBay and make a hefty profit, but I think I need it more. And thanks for the advice about Visine Workplace. At least I know where to look once this last bottle runs out.
Mike, the date is dec 2011. the last bottle of vlr i was able to find is 8/11.
Jessie, I found one bottle at a Winn Dixie Supermarket yesterday. It's expiration was 8/11 also. I wonder if that means production was stopped in 8/09 of LR (if shelf life is two years).
all the grief i've been through and then i had the idea of just entering visine lr. i feel a little stupid but i'm greatly surprised to find others out there in the same boat and now good news of LR coming back. now does anybody want to join me on the case of the shrinking size of toilet paper?
Mike, that's interesting. i'll have to pay more attention to that.
Walgreens and CVS in Ocala are out of the product. Drugstore.com does NOT have it.
Same here. I am freaking out! I have been using this for 15 years, and it is the only brand that works for me. Any ideas?
