Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 19)

Having problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
All I want to say (for myself) is I don't mind if an eye drops comes from a foreign country, because much of what we have in the United States is made elsewhere. However, I am concerned about the company. Can I trust it? Is it reputable? Does it follow strict guidelines and standards? I know that well-known companies like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Bayer, etc are not going to support or put their good name behind something that's going to harm us.
Rick... can you please share how you mixed the nose spray and artificial tears? I'm concerned about contaminating the mixture. Thanks
Hi Everyone,
I realize I'm late to the conversation but am a very frequent user of Visine L.R. Thus far I have purchased from Amazon at a very high price but realize supplies won't last. Thanks to the conversation on this site, I just placed an order for Oxylin Liquifilm through the People's Pharmacy. This product will ship from South Africa and I'm paying a steep shipping price. Also, I tried the nose spray 50/50 combo with a tears eye drop and the solution did not work for me. One final note...I read that someone does not trust product manufactured in China. It was my understanding that is exactly where Johnson & Johnson was receiving the L.R. product? I may be wrong but it was definitely not manufactured in the United States as the last time there was a temporary shortage, I was told by J & J the product was stuck in Customs and they were having temporary difficulty with the import. Thank you to all for your comments. Very helpful!
Have inquired on Visine website twice with no response. Great customer service Visine, just ignore them!!
Hi Gregmech26,
That's great and all, but I'll bet a lot of us here and out in "unemployment land" cannot afford to purchase eye drops for $80. Yikes!
Unfortunately, I believe many of these companies are taking advantage of folks because they can... and it is absolutely ridiculous. Low integrity and a lot of greed.
Prednisolone acetate ophthalmic suspension USP 1% eye drops are the best. They are available in 5 ml. or 10 ml. bottles by prescription only.
I have been using them for over a decade on an "as-needed" basis. It use to cost $5 per bottle, but for some reason the price jumped to $80 per bottle over the last 3 years. I get mine at the Costco or Target pharmacy.
What about Zoamet drops which are manufactured in India? It appears to contain Oxymetazoline as the active ingredient.
At this point, I'd try any oxymetazoline eye drops as long as it comes from a reliable source and it's "safe."
I've been using B+L's Max. Redness Relief (and using my last bottle of Visine LR only out of necessity). Honestly, B+L is better than nothing, but it still can't take the place of oxymetazoline based drops.
Guys, I'm looking into investing in a custom Oxymetazoline eye drop product - either from overseas or locally produced in the USA. I don't want to waste my time and money if there is no interest , however. If you would be interested in such a product - please let me know.
I have done it. It works. Used one drop of Afrin to two drops of Visine tears. Result is same as using the real Visine LR. At this point, if Visine LR does not come back, I will continue to use this alternative...........as it works. There are many who are afraid to take matters into their own hands........and I understand it. However, I have yet to find a viable alternative. And, I am not going to pay 100/bottle on ebay.....not worth it. Yes, I can still see the same way I did when I was using Visine LR..........no side effects.
People are...and more ! Seen folks paying over $100
Ok I am also seeing Visine LR on eBay but it starts at $75 upwards of $95! Would anybody actually pay this much for a discontinued OTC product?!
This is just unbelievable!!! I'm reading all your comments with different methods and nothing is done about bringing Visine LR back or at least w/similar ingredients. Opcon A works well my eyes are not red but it stings a little. It's not the best lubricant, however takes the red out.
Yes indeed. Clear Eyes Maximum Redness works. Have to apply it more often though. I have bottles of it everywhere. All other products are useless.
As I shared months ago, the only product that is working for me (not as well as Visine LR) is Clear Eyes Maximum Redness Relief.
I feel compelled to load up the cabinet for fear this will too become extinct. ;)
Has anyone diluted Afrin and used it ? Walmart generic Equate at $1.77 has oxymetazoline (active ingredient) and needs concentration to be reduced by half (easy enough with sterile water). Has anyone used it and what is your opinion ? I have about 3 weeks of Visine LR left and am ready to "mix" and try.....just wanted opinions ! Thanks!
No, I have not. I have tried the Visine Maximum Readness product but it did NOT work for me.
The producduct that DOES seem to work well for me is the Clear Eyes Maximum Readness product.
So far so good.
Christina,
Since the other day, I have done a lot more reading about Visine with Hydroblend. Overwhelmingly bad reviews. It's surely a dud.
We need more people to write these companies. One or a few letters won't get us anywhere. It won't bring change.
I know a lot of bloggers here are good writers, so people, please write and let your voices be heard. Phone calls have never proved very effective for getting people to really listen to what you're saying.. People hear your words, but later on, they forget about what you said. A letter is proof and weightier. It's tangible.
Hi Rhonda,
I just received the same information from Walgreen's. They talked about the Visine Hydroblend and sending me samples as well. They also said they appreciate the information about the lack of eyedrops with oxymetazoline being on the market.
Perhaps more importantly, I also heard from the Johnson and Johnson Representative for the Walgreen's store. She informed me that Visine LR has been discontinued (we all know that) and that there AREN'T any plans to bring it back NOR to create any OTHER eyedrops with oxymetazoline.
I believe that I have tried the Visine Hydroblend drops without any luck. For me, I unfortunately happen to be a person that is best helped with oxymetazoline.
Good luck to you.
I guess I was hoping Visine with Hydroblend was something new. It's not. It's on all the shelves.
I checked online and one review for it was poor. A former Visine LR user was very disappointed. She said Visine LR was the only Visine product that worked for her.
