Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 17)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
I went on Amazon and have found trouble finding it. The more I search the more I find my fear to be true...discontinued? This is the best product out there. Have used it for years!!
I just wanted to post that I have been without this product for almost 3 weeks now, after twice a day usage for many years. I am beginning to believe what most eye doctors will tell you, that these products create their own need.. After two miserable weeks of redness and grittiness, my eyes are improving naturally. Clearer and brighter and I am only using a drop of Naphcon A allergy relief, and just some natural tears. I have lasik related dry eye syndrome. And I agree, its pretty shady that they are making no effort to publicly state that they've discontinued it. Starting to think that ingredient that worked so well, but not found in any other product, might be damaging and maybe they realized that. Anyway..I'm kind of glad I was forcibly weaned off it.
I went to rite aid and bought it ( eye care allergy relief drops by rite aid) right away when i read your comments, and i was so amazed on the result, my eyes turned whiter than Visine Lr result. Thanks for sharing it ..this is better treatment for red eyes relief than Visine LR. I will not gonna use visine product anymore....try and give me a feedback...
I just wanna share my new discovery for Visine Lr. replacement. You're not gonna believe how much effort that i exerted looking at every store that carries Visine Lr and how much shame that i have experienced having red eyes while i'm at work. I thank Medschat.com where i got the answer to my concerns.
HI- I have tried the naphcon A - (which is similar to the Rite Aid Allergy) and yes, while it did make my eyes white, it did not last as long as the Visine LR. and it's the 'lasting' part of this that really is the issue for me.
And the fact that it burned like h#@LL when I did try them --- scared me a bit.
Can't believe how many people are in the same situation I now find myself in. I ordered the rite aid and Alcon and am waiting my arrival. Praying it works for me. Meanwhile, I am rationing my last bottle of LR. One drop per day.
Will try Alcon and Rite Aid. Thanks for the tip. Can't believe how many people are having this red eye issue.
After trying many different drops, I asked my brother (med student, going to become a doctor) about a good replacement that actually works. He suggested Clear Eyes Redness Relief or Opcon-A. He said the chemical that does the trick is is Naphazoline Hydrochloride (HCl). I bought the Clear Eyes (0.3% Naph. HCl) and it worked great, if not better than the Visine LR. Hope this helps anyone still looking for a replacement.
I agree with tracing. I appreciate the recommendation of naphcon a and rite allergy drops. I guess they are better than nothing but burns my eyes badly and doesn't work as well. Anyone else with similar experiences?
I also agree, tried the Opcon-A and ordered the Rite Aid Allergy drops as there is not a store near me.. The Opcon does not get rid of the redness so I am not holding out much hope the the Rite Aid brand will work either. I talked to two different pharmacists and they tell me that the Visine L.R. was a decongestant drop while all the others are antihistimines. Have yet to find anything else that works.
Like all of you, I'm in the same boat. The product is still listed on Visine.ca (workplace), but it too is discontinued in Canada.
Does anyone know if this product really goes bad? Having worked in marketing, I know that many times the expiry date is designed just to get consumers to buy fresh product; other times the expiry date ("code date") is an FDA requirement that has little to do with the viability of the products. In the meantime, I keep buying another couple of bottles on eBay each payday.
Hi all, FOUND a replacement for VISINE LR. In India called ZOAMET EYE DROPS (OXYMETAZOLINE HYDROCHLORIDE SOLUTION USP) manufactured by EAST INDIA PHARMACEUTICAL WORKS LIMITED. The retail price in a chemist shop in India is RS 40 / -, less than 1 USD..
I am very relieved & wanted to share this with all others
How can we actually get ahold of this? Is there an online store?
Meenal, how can a person get them? Is there anyway to order them online?
I appreciate you sharing this news and would like to give it a try.
Thank you so much!
There is also Allergex from South Africa, available everywhere there. Oxymetazoline hcl 0.25% drops. No clue how to get them here though either....
Just a thought. Visine LR has been so effective at taking care of red eye problems and I'm sure it is being use by drug and alcohol users to mask the effects of using their drug of choice. I think the government has had some influence on Johnson & Johnson making this decision. Their contribution to political parties has been about 65% to Democrats and the rest to others. It would be interesting if some reporter would pick up on this story and check it out. I don't have the data or resources to back up my suspicion.
Update. Bought the Alcon product and it is working good enough. Morning redness is the worst and this brightens up my eyes nice and white. And Icfeel it's a healthier product for my eyes, so as I write this, I believe my problem is resolved. Thank you all for the tips and suggestions.
I'm not sure I buy into that 'government' ceasing the production of Visine LR idea. It seems extreme - since there are so many other eye drop options out there. Although, I wouldn't put it past the govt. to waste money and time researching such nonsense.
Again - the Opcon does make my eyes white - it just doesn't last long at all.
Regarding the Zoavet eye drops made in India, i was so happy that i visited this company's office. But, seems they are not into online sales. Not sure how to ask them to get onto ebay etc., but there is one site by the name of indiamart which i have placed an order yesterday just to check out if it works. Also i cannot be sure if it's accessible worldwide.
