Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 16)

Having problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Christina in PA,
Let us know how zoamet works for you.
Thanks!
I just called the Visine consumer center. The rep stated all he could find is that there was a manufacturing issue but that was about it. They do take feedback seriously and I was on the phone with him for 30 minutes. He also said there is talk of a new product on the horizon and he could not state that the ingredient was oxymetazoline but we both agreed they did not need to put another eyedrop with tetrahydrozoline like all their other visine's. Will ask you questions about if you tried their other products and if they worked. Also, they put you on a contact list if any new LR info comes out such as putting back on the market. If you are on any other message boards for visine LR, encourage everyone to call. Here is their info: Consumer Care Center 1-888-734-7648. Their specialists are available Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM EDT. Thank you and we hope to hear from you.
I did order from alldaypils and my package came today from 'seventh sky'. I was leery to even open the package due to the 'sender', but obviously I did. :) It's 5 - 5ml bottles. I still have one bottle of LR left... which I'm using ever so sparingly... I'll report back with my 'review' of the drop!
Ok, so I took the plunge -- I ordered (1) Zoamet from ebay. It was 28 dollars with free shipping. At this point, I can try Zoamet to see if ordering from alldaypills with a prepaid credit card will be worth any efforts I put forth. I figure 28 dollars isn't THAT bad... prescription eye drops cost much more.
VLR Lover,
Well that's a bummer with the Pataday :( I think gregmech26 also had the same experience as you. It didn't help.
I am interested in Customs Prescriptions of Lancaster. Let me know if you do end up getting oxymetazoline eyedrops from them, especially if they can ship nationwide.
Thank you!
That's a negative on the Pataday... Left my eyes glassy and somewhat red.
Probably gonna try the Custom Prescriptions of Lancaster if the zoamet doesn't work for me
Zoamet is selling for $ 30+/5mL bottle on Ebay. I offered 10 bucks. Seller denied. The prices are going to go down if you don't panic. I trust that all this rhetoric about Oxymetozoline will catch the attention of a manufacturer and something will come to market.
Just picked up 2 bottles VLR for $53.00 off ebay. exp 12/15. Happy days..... Go through the bid Auction. Last saw a single bottle going for over 80. Don't do the BUY NOW.
The 3:1 ratio sterile water (sterile water from a sealed medical vial) to afrin working like a charm for me. No adverse reactions. Eyes feel fine. I'm sure Visine Tears is fine too....but I haven't tried that.
Pataday and Patanol just made my eyes ten times worse, and even more red.
Nothing compares to Visine LR.
The Bausch & Lomb "redness relief" eye drops are very good, but not as good as Visine LR.
My prescription "Prednisolone 1% Acetate" eye drops are fantastic, but cost around $80 at Costco for 10ml. ($40 for the 5ml bottle) and some doctors are hesitant to prescribe them because it's a steroid and apparently may cause high pressure in the eye if you overuse them.
I've used them for over 10 years (as needed) with excellent results and no problems.
Hi VLR Lover,
Yes, let us know how pataday eyedrops work for you. I will also try the zaditor and see what happens.
As far as alldaypils, I don't think I will order Zoamet eyedrops from them. I agree with you, it is probably better to get them from ebay if you get them at all.
I also am still hesitant about using the mixture of Afrin nasal spray in my eyes. Pharmacists have also warned me about the problem with ph and buffers that are lacking in any mixture we make for ourselves.
I still don't understand why there isn't a company in the U.S. that will manufacture eyedrops with oxymetazoline? There obviously are nasal sprays with this main ingredient! I continue to email any companies I can think of and ask them to please consider it.
Hi Cindy,
Gosh, what a disappointment! I haven't ordered the Zoamet yet, and now I have serious reservations. Perhaps I will find a way to write the company and let them know that they have a desired product and they can "make a killing" in sales if they can get the shipping/customs thing corrected. That might be a great incentive for them.
You stated Zoamet did not work as well as Visine LR. I'm thinking it could be due to the amount of oxymetazoline they're using. It's possible it's not the same strength.
Anyhow, I just hope we can all finally be satisfied and have what we want. :-)
Cindy,
Thank you for sharing your experience with purchasing Zoamet. I think it helps us all in knowing this information. It does seem disappointing if not at least questionable. I am like you. I have a bottle of LR left and am using Bausch and Lomb Redness Eye Relief. Definitely not the same as LR but is slightly better than nothing. Ugh!
Christina,
I don't really have season conjunctivitis... That is just what he is calling it because of how I explained my symptoms to him and I saw another post of someone with the same diagnosis so it must be a common diagnosis for red eyes. I knew oxymetazoline was an antihistamine so I related my symptoms to an eye allergy. I can self diagnose as having a chronic chronic inhalation issue--if your picking up what I'm putting down! lol
I've used VLR every morning for the past 10+ years (I kept one at home, one in the car and one at work just in case I stayed somewhere other than my house) and if I don't have it I look like the walking dead. I tried all the other formulas and they either barely work for a brief period of time or they make me look worse (glassy, dilated p's, blurry vision, etc). I'll let you know about the Pataday (I plan to try it Sunday on my day off) and you should be able to pick up the Zaditor anywhere if you want to try it out. I also heard people liked the Rite Aid brand in the pink box but I really doubt it compares to VLR! I also see that someone else reported a bad experience with ordering from alldaypils. It seems that smashed/emptied product is a common occurrence.
I think that the prices of Zoamet online are comparable to the cost of prescription Pataday formula which hasn't yet been proven to work. If your guaranteed a full bottle of Zoamet (which actually has Oxymetazoline HCI) for $30-$40 then it seems worth it to just go ahead and buy Zoamet online rather than paying for Pataday, or, even worse, waiting a month after paying $45 for 5 bottles of Zoamet from alldaypils and only getting 1.5 bottles and 2.5 empty bottles. Anyway, that's just my opinion... I still don't feel good about making my own solution with nasal spray. I talked to some pharmacists and they were adamant against it because eye drops have to be specially buffered for the eye. I know that a lot of people are posting good reports about their formula but if you trace their posts back a little bit you will find that they also had trouble getting the dropper nipple off the bottle; not to mention that most thought it was permanently attached to the bottle. Always check your references! lol Good Luck!!!
VLR Lover,
Thank you for your information. Yes, let us know how the pataday eyedrops work for you. I don't know however if we all share the same diagnosis of seasonal conjunctivitis. The eyedrops may work great for you (which I hope so for your sake) but not for others.
As far as alldaypills - I still cannot access their website. You said you had their telephone number. I am now not as optimistic of using them, given your experience. Maybe my security system is not allowing me access to them for a good reason?!
Hi Everyone,
I ordered Zoamet from alldaypills. My fingers were so crossed. I paid $45.00 for five bottles (this includes shipping and handling) and was delighted to see they ship USPS. I too, as another post stated, had trouble with the website. I contacted them (Amy) via telephone and she was able to push the order through. I used my credit card and have monitored it for any additional charges just in case. There has been no issue. With that being said, my product arrive with three out of the five bottles completely empty. Wet packaging. There isn't any type of seal around the base of the lid. The caps were still perfectly tight but product had completely leaked out. I tried what product I did have an found myself disappointed. My true test was using upon waking. It does not work the same as LR. Now, it is somewhat helpful when using with B&L Max Redness Relief. I have to use B&L first and then the Zoamet. So, I'm going to try the nasal spray combo again, this time using 1 part nasal spray per 3 parts tears. I am so disappointed regarding Zoamet. I had hoped it would work exactly the same for me. By the way, I contacted "Amy" via email regarding the empty bottles and she said if placing a second order, I would receive three extra bottles at not cost. I'm sure the same thing would happen all over again, however. I have two bottles of LR left but am trying to find my perfect solution before I run completely out. [sigh]
I went to the eye doctor and he said I have seasonal conjunctivitis. He gave me a 5ml bottle of Pataday (he seemed to be addicted to the product) which is actually a expensive once a day antihistamine eye drop. He said that if I like it he will prescribe it for me if I can afford the cost, otherwise he told me to try the OTC twice a day Zaditor drops. Both brands are made by Novartis. I was upset that he didn't prescribe the oxymetazoline and was just going to go to my PC for a prescription but I haven't had any time to do so. I still haven't had the opportunity to try the Pataday yet.
I ended up calling alldaypils to order some Zoamet. The product arrived damaged and empty... They were shipped in a simple, non-padded envelope and were either smashed during shipping or tampered with during customs. The boxes were damaged and soaked with the product. Only 1.5 bottles made it through the process. After the whole experience I'm probably just going to order them online for now on because of the buyer protection and I'll deal with Custom Prescriptions of Lancaster later.
Christina and Rhonda,
Sounds like a good idea about the prepaid credit card. If you both go ahead and order from them, let us all know about your experience.
Thank you!
Hi Niner,
Thanks so much for the information about Zoamet. It's a good day!
Must be legit. I'll soon be ordering 5 bottles with my prepaid bank card. I love shopping online with them instead of a regular credit card. Much safer to load only the amount of money you need to spend onto them.
Christina - maybe we can both try that site. I'm considering getting one of those gift card visas - put enough money on the card to purchase a few bottles plus shipping. That is a thought.
