Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 14)

Having problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Hi all, I will be going to the UK and Ireland for the next couple of weeks, is there something comparable to Visine LR in these areas ? Thanks
O.k. I stopped using B & L along with Zoamet and now Zoamet truly seems to be working for me. I think I was confusing my poor eyes. For those that have experienced receiving empty bottles, that happened to me as well. I had received three empty bottles. Amy at AllDayPills did keep her word and sent me three additional bottles when I placed my second order. All of the bottles arrived intact and full. However, I'm anxious for the Allergex to arrive from a seller on eBay. We'll see!
DJ, I'm so happy for you! I wonder if many of us shouldn't see an opthamologist. I have been dealing with this for many years. I do think some of what I'm experiencing is a simple rebound effect but my eyes were red before I started using eye drops, especially in the morning.
This is great news. Can you please include the dosage of each medication prescribed? Thanks for the info.
Well....I finally did it. I gave up on Visine LR! I scheduled an eye appointment 4 weeks ago because I was down to one bottle of VLR and I needed an answer to why my eyes are always red. This is a long post so please bear with me. I recently got a new pair of glasses from Walmart and casually told the Dr about my red eyes. He told me to see a local Dr that specialized in dry eyes. I made the appointment and the progress has been incredible. The first thing the DR said to me was that he was going to get my eyes in much better shape than they were in. He said I had to stop using LR because it was defeating the purpose of getting white eyes. I stopped using it immediately although I still kept it in my pocket for a few days as a security blanket. Here is what program he put me on:
Week 1: Restasis twice a day...Morning and dinner (My last Dr said that each vile can only be used once and then thrown out. My new Dr. said that is crazy and that I can use the vile until it is empty. Now a one month prescription lasts 3 months!) Alrex...Morning, lunch, Dinner, bedtime. Pazeo..Morning
Week 2: Restasis....Morning and dinner. Alrex...Morning, Lunch Dinner. Pazeo..Morning
Week 3: Restasis....Morning and dinner. Alrex..Morning and dinner. Pazeo...Morning
Week 4: Restasis..Morning and dinner. Alrex...Morning. Pazeo..Morning
Week 5: Restasis...Morning and dinner. Pazeo ....as needed
Note. Dr said I would be on Restasis 4-6 months minimum for optimal effect. The first week was the toughest as I was weaning off LR. Now almost 4 weeks later my eyes in my opinion and that of my family are at least 80-90% whiter and they feel so much better than when I was on LR. I'm also scheduled for EYE allergy testing July 27th. I thought my red eyes were forever and the thought of LR being discontinued was devastating to me. I tried B & L drops which were ok but still had red eyes by 3 pm everyday. Hope this helps someone out there who's looking for positive news about going off of LR.
Good luck
I tried that site. I ordered 5 bottles to counter the $60 shipping charge. Figured that $100 for 5 bottles was a good deal rather than paying $50 for one from ebay. When they arrived 3 were smashed and emptied all over the remaining 2 boxes. I ended up paying $100 for 2 bottles in the end and it took a while to get here. They said that if I buy more they will replace the lost bottles but I figure it will just happen again. I hate customs and often think they destroy items just for the fun of it!
I'm so done. I'll be checking in here from time time to see if anything new has popped up on the market. Until then, I'll just try to get the right amount of sleep, wear minimal mascara on my eyelashes, and continue with B + L Maximum Redness Relief.
My final precious bottle of Visine LR is about 3/4 gone. I use it only when necessary.
I need to win a lottery or really big money. Then I would go into business and create a few items: some inventions (stuck in my creative head) and Oxymetazoline eye drops.
Hi everyone,
Well, thanks to the info posted here, I have now just ordered Allergex eye drops from ebay. Zoamet is just not cutting it for me. I know other people have said it feels like VLR but it doesn't to me! My eyes sting all day and are glossy. I researched Allergex and found a press release from Adcock Ingram Healthcare announcing the launch of Allergex eye drops which will replace Sparkling White eye drops. I HOPE this is the one. Otherwise, I'm running out of options and will have to stick with B&L coupled with artificial tears eye drops but I find myself using the drops all day long. VLR Lover and Wes: You give me hope!
I had the same issue with them as others have reported with alldaypills. You receive empty bottles and their customer service tells you to buy more and they will make up for the losses. Don't think for a minute that the high cost for shipping has anything to do with them properly packaging the items for international shipping. Hopefully others have better luck than I did!
Haven't actually completed an order from there, since I noticed the shipping to the US fee was 63 dollars. Sure, the 10ml bottle is under five dollars, but ebay method is still cheaper.
I haven't tried any other international sites after dealing with alldaypills and receiving empty bottles. International items seem prone to being smashed when shipped over seas which, I guess, is why you're not suppose to ship liquids.
I did check out the site and their shipping costs are outrageous. It's actually cheaper to buy a bottle of Allergex off of ebay now that the price has dropped. Allergex is selling on ebay for about half of what I paid for my bottle.
I've been using Allergex for a while now and haven't had any issues. I can't even tell the difference from the Visine Workplace and L.R. formula!
Has anyone ordered allergex from a website other than eBay? I've seen a website with an address called zimseller? Is this site reputable? Any info would be helpful, thanks.
I noticed the guy selling Cendo Asthenof on ebay just changed his listing around since I posted my issues with his wording and price. That only tells me that he is following this thread. He changed the wording to say it is similar to VLR but he never once identifies his product as genuine Cendo Asthenof eye drops. He also drastically lowered the price so I can only imagine that he knows he is selling counterfeit eye drops and is trying to dump his load!
There are 3 other eye drops that contain oxymetazoline on the market:
1. Zoamet - It sometimes stings during application but works similar to VLR. It is $36.00 but I got mine for $28.00. You only get a 5ml bottle (VLR is a 15ml bottle) so you will need 3 bottles to equal one bottle of VLR. It doesn't seem to last ALL DAY like VLR did but it does the trick!
2. Allergex - It comes in a 15ml bottle and it's about $50.00 (I paid a lot more for my tester bottle). I've only tried it twice so far but I've had positive results. I'd say that Allergex is the most similar to VLR and the best replacement given the price for the quantity!
3. Cendo Asthenof - It comes in a 5ml bottle and is about $42.00 after shipping and thus will cost close to $130.00 for 15ml. I have not tried this yet because I'm hesitant due to how the listing worded the description as "Genuine Eye Drops (5 ml) -Similar to Cendo Asthenof...Non irritating & sterile eye tonic in special Cendo dropper bottle." This wording leads me to believe that the eye drops might not be genuine Cendo Asthenof eye drops but rather are a tonic imitation in a Cendo Asthenof bottle (probably nose spray and eye drops).
No, I did not do any research on this as it is an approved OTC med. I have had no reactions whatsoever that differed from the Visine LR. I did not do this for money. I did it because the tetrahydrozaline and naphazoline used in other products are completely ineffective at removing the redness in my eyes. Were they, I would gladly keep purchasing them.
Chris Rock once said: "you can drive a car with your feet... but should you do it?"
Putting nose spray in your eyes might work but it's definitely not safe. Eye drops have to be specifically buffered for the eye because the eye is so sensitive to infection.
Every time you make your own mixture of eye drops using nose spray you should set aside all the money you saved because there is a chance you will need it for your eye surgery!
Debbie,
Thanks for the information from CPL. Are they seriously charging $200 for one bottle? Or maybe to make a batch? I just don't get it.
Dman,
Thanks for posting the telephone number and info to Johnson and Johnson. They are done with me. Last time I contacted them they stated there were no plans to make any eyedrops with oxymetazoline and were not going to bring Visine LR back.
Any itching or stinging? Did you research if this is safe for eyes? Thanks for the suggestion
Keep up the pressure.
I would advise everyone to call Visine's Consumer Care Center at 1-888-734-7648, (Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm) and put a bug in their ear about this issue.
Here's what I've done to address this issue: Many nasal sprays use oxymetazoline, but at a concentration of .05%, while the Visine LR concentration was .025%. So, I bought some nasal spray at Dollar Tree (the vendor is irrelevant), filled my empty LR bottle halfway, then filled it to the top with purified water. It works great!!! Oh, and it only cost a buck.
