Demonic nightmares along with sleep paralysis. Nothing else. Do not skip a dose at all!!

I have been taking Viibryd for about 9 months and have read dozens of posts about the side effects of Viibryd. I had very mild reactions when first started taking this drug, including complete sexual dysfunction. I have not had the nightmares, night terrors, or trouble sleeping. I did have diarrhea at first. I had been taking Cymbalta for a long time. The worst side effect of Cymbalta was the horrible sweating without any exertion at all and feeling over-heated all of the time. My Dr. changed my anti-depression medication to Viibryd and the heat problem resolved. Viibryd works great for managing my depression and anger issues, but I have been experiencing tremors in my hands. Upon rising from sitting or lying down, I experience severe leg shakes, which is unnerving. This is one of the side effects listed for Viibryd. I also take Bupropion (generic for Wellbutrin) with Viibryd. None of the posts I read mentions having this side effect. Has anyone out there experienced tremors while taking Viibryd?

Have you read the report about buporpion xl? I've been quite upset. I haf been on it for almost a yr. With NO results. I have askef my dr AND my pharmacy to please address this issue. The ingredient that is actually needed in buporpion is absent. Meaning it does not work. It was then I was put on viibryd as well as my buporion. The viibryd IS working. I stopped taking buporionwith absolutely NO change. Does this mean IF the buporpion was made correctly I would not have experienced suicidal thoughts and major depression? Am I suposed to take BOTH just because the one that DID work previously has stopped? I amvery angry and have yet to get any answers from either the pharmacy who has a blind eye toward this or mydr. Thanks to Viibryd even with experiencing side effects, I feel more like myself.

I have not experienced tremors. I have a very physical demanding job where I am always on the move. I have noticed that both my legs are stiffer and that my knees are starting to hurt. Once I am home and sit down for 15 minutes or more and have to get up it is very difficult to get up and I am in my mid 40's with what I would consider myself fairly strong legs.

I always take Viibryd before going to sleep and with sleep aids and I have no problems doing it that way. I decided to listen to some who post here and took it during the day. For me that was a mistake, I was getting brain zaps for nearly an hour and a half. It was a bit of torture and scary as you feel like you are short circuiting and I cannot help to think if one of those brain zaps will be so strong it will create brain damage or even kill me. If I take Viibryd at night I think with the sleep aid I literally sleep through all that if it is happening.

Corney bean ask your primary M.D. for Diphen/Atropine tabs. I take two a day and it controls diarrhea. It is the prescription version of immodium. I usually take it in the morning before heading out to start my day. You have to listen to your body and when at home and this med is wearing out allow your body to eliminate.

I've had a lot of the side effects that viibryd had to offer, and after 6 wks I finally think my body is starting to adjust. It was a very rough ride. The stomach issues are still there but not as severe as they were in the beginning. I finally feel human. As far as feeling myself I forgot what that was. I'm guessing antidepressents do that to you.

I have been on Viibryd for 6 months. I started with 10 and stayed on 10mg for 2 months. Then the depression came back stronger. My doctor increased the Viibryd to 20 with 5mcg of Ritalin am and noon. I instantly felt better. Up until December I had good energy and much of the depression seemed to fall away. I always sleep poorly so taking sleep meds is normal for me. I have not had nightmares like others or brain zaps. I have had trouble reaching orgasm or any interest in sex. I take my Viibryd in the am with a meal. I think if I take it with too small a meal I feel shaky. I am noticing hair loss but not sure if that is part of a low thryoid or that medication. I am going through menopause which is not helpful figuring out what is causing which symptoms. I just want to say that it has helped me a lot and I don't have the joint pain thankfully. It has saved my life but I'm now weaning down to 15 from 20. Hopefully it won't be as difficult as some on this post. Best to all of you.

DON'T let this freak you out -- for maybe 2 days in the beginning my eyesight was a little blurry. The sheet they give you is impossible to read so I went to the website, and on the tab for the Physicians this was listed as common (1 in 100 people) didn't say if it was permanent or what, but mine went away. I haven't seen anyone else mention this. Good luck ;-)

I am having so much trouble in this area. I've started taking fiber drinks, they help...but still unpredictable. Added a colon health pill by aphillips also. I need to look for a job but can't. Love how I feel but what about the rest of my life? Scared NOT to take it!

Corney Bean, your question was answered weeks ago.
ONE MORE TIME:

Yes, I think I should take stock in the generi for Immodium. I have more often than not unable to leave my house and had/have to keep it with me where ever I go. I've been checked from both ends and the only thing they come up with is chronic IBS. With Viibryd, however, my immodium generic does not work. I have taken as many as 3 at a time and again in an hour. So it does NOT work for everyone. Fiber also works even though you'd think the oposite. Colon Health by Phillips works at times. Nothing works well all the time. I am having trouble deciding what to do..stay home and feel like myself, or wean off Viibryd and not care to live again.
I would suggest anyone to try Viibryd as each of us is different. It certainly does help my mental issues.

I'm only 19 years and I have been taking this medication for well over a year now. I noticwd my nightmares amd body shocks after the first week or so. I have been explaining the night sweats and the terrible nightmares, sleep paralysis, and everything that goes with it. She keeps saying not to worry about it because they are just simply nightmares. After reading some of your posts, I am relieved that I am not the only one. Hopefully my doctor will finally listen to be after a year to take me off of this damn thing! My nightmares are affecting my daily life because I'm afraid of going to sleep at night. If anyone of you can help me at all please do

I've been on the 40mg dose of Viibryd about 2 months now. Honestly it has taken about that amount of time to get used to it. I worked years ago in Psychiatry and the instruction we always gave was that these type medicines can take up to 2 weeks to work. BullS***. Now I know. A good 2 months or more. I had a lot of gas and some frequency of bowel movement, in the beginning as well as early morning awakening. I do sweat at night but all SSRIs cause that. That one rarely goes away. All the others have. I find I go to sleep very well but have a harder time getting out of bed. A constant ringing in my ears seemed to start after I started the med., but my NP thinks some of that is age related. Had an Audiology consult and that "expert" had no idea. I was having as a large part of my depressive symptoms some uncontrollable anxiety and aggression. My emotions are still there but my BP doesn't go up and I get over my anger more easily. i do get tired in the afternoon some days, but I'm also treated for Hypothyroid. Hard to deferentiate from that. Some loss of Libido but still have a bit of drive.

I am sorry to say but this is true. I have been on Viibryd for about 5.5 months. I have been ignoring all sorts of pains from the bottom of my feet, lower/upper legs, knees, arms, palms of hands. I have been getting brain zaps nearly everyday and lately more frequently. Two days ago I was walking my dogs and I felt so much pain as if I was hit by a car several times. I could barely walk. I am in my mid 40's and healthy physically normally. I immediately made the decision to stop Viibryd as now I feel that I am poisoned and practically on my death bed. I have been speaking on this forum since I first started on Viibryd on a more positive note except for the side effects but I now believed I had to bail out before the plane I was on crashes into the ground and kills me. I decided not to ween off as that is how ill I have become suddenly. I cut it off completely as of the last two days. I have constant brain zaps still but they are not nearly as strong as before which are extremely strong. I have been in bed for nearly two days as I have been extremely weak. I am normally a high energy, fast moving person. I feel that I am in recovery and am very much considering never to try Viibryd again. I hope their is no permanent brain, neurological and/or body damage such as to essential organs, bones, etc.

Mario...what was your dosage before you quit. I'm on 20 mg now along with Deplin(which I don't know if it does anything) but I know when I went up a dosage I had all kinds of side effects. I'm thinking about getting off it also as I don't see it's doing me any good either. I also have a thyroid problem which may be contributing to it I don't know. Best of luck to the ones that it works for but I can't say it's done anything for me.

I started with the starter pack one week 10mg, two weeks 20mg, last week 40mg and then for the next 5 months on 40mg. It was definely helping my depression as almost non existant with a plus of extra energy. The side effects where diarrhea, brain zaps and pain on and off mainly bone/joint. This week all those side affects seems to have multiplied at least 6 times stronger where I felt near death. I felt that weening off at such a violent reaction would not be fast enough. It was best to stop immediately as now the side affects such as brain zaps are there more frequently sometimes constant but very weak compared to before. I am drinking lots of coffee and water and trying to rid every molecule out of my system. I must say that the saying the goes "If it is too good to be true it probably is not what is seems" still holds true. I was very pro this drug but my story has changed dramatically. No more Viibryd for me. I felt that I needed to make my experience known to all.

I'm nearly into my 4th month on Viibryd, and for me, the good still far outweighs the bad. It was tough going from 20 to 40 mg the first month, but I just backed down to 20 mg for a few weeks until I could adjust.

For the first two months, my energy level was amazing - probably even a bit excessive. I sure got a lot done and my worklife was unlike it had been in 12 years. During the last month, things have become more balanced. I do miss the crazy level of energy, but the depression is still gone. I feel alive!

Side effects? Some of them are still there but manageable. Diarrhea is ongoing but the occasional Immodium dose tends to keep it in check. Sometimes nausea is an issue but strangely enough, Prevacid OTC will fix it up right away. Getting to sleep has always been an issue regardless of the anti-depressants I've tried, and I've used Ambien for many years. Now it works much better and I don't feel nearly as groggy in the mornings. Low libido has also always been a side effect of my depression, and Viibryd has not helped me in that regard.

The bottom line for me, however, is I no longer want a Mac truck to lose its breaks and mow me down in an intersection. I was really wishing I would just not wake up for years. That's gone! I enjoy many of the things I enjoyed 12 years ago.

Here are a few things to mention in regard to the night terrors many have mentioned on here. The same was happening to me at first. I learned the hard way never to take Viibryd after around noon or it hits me hard at night. I was snoring and waking up gasping for air (I've never been a snorer). The scary dreams were clearly linked. It all went away when I stayed on a program of only taking the medication first thing in the morning.

I'm going into my 4th month on viibryd now. Some of the side effects have diminished. I'm still dealing with the intestinal problems, headaches, muscle aches to name a few. I take the poison pill in morning now which I find it helps with some of the side effects. I've resorted to calling it that because I feel as if my body is slowly being poisoned. I know for some it works great and are willing to put up with the side effects. I'm trying to be patient but I feel like its just not for me.
