Thanks for sharing.

I have read many reviews, a lot of people have joint problems, after stopping they are still suffering-- two yrs post Viibryd they still have joint issues.

I am quite annoyed I did not put this together sooner!

I can only go forward. What an awful drug. There should be a legal suit.

Wishing you good health.

I was on 40 mg for about 6 months when I decided that my symptoms (joint pain) could be from the viibryd. My doctor recommend dropping to 20 mg for a week and then stopping completely. So I did that and the withdrawal symptoms started as soon as I stopped. I had buzzing in my head almost constantly, I was ver itchy all over, and could not sleep at night because of the night terrors and insomnia. This went on for about 2 weeks and then went away. I haven't gotten any relief from the joint pain, but my doctor said it would take longer for that to go away. No changes in my mood at all yet, thankfully, but I know that could happen at any time.

Three days ago the last of the devil himself, wellbutrin, left my system and having pushed my cymbalta back up to 60mg for almost 2 weeks, I feel pretty much as good as I did in January before I started the cymbalta to viibryd switch. (Thank the God).
Before the better mood came back ( and it was bad ... Really bad.. ) my doctor thought he'd help things along ( wellbu---s--it was still in me) and made a script out for 2 mg of abilify: which I never took. After reading of movements and pacing and anxiety.... Gimme a break... Only if my world was ending would I have taken it....
Now I hope and pray things stay as they are or get even better. It's good to breathe the early 6 am air!

Jana- did you get psoriatic arthritis before or after starting Viibryd? I've never heard of a medication causing an auto immune disease?

So sorry you're suffering and wishing you much healing.

Good luck weaning off. I have been off for about 2 weeks and the withdrawal symptoms were bad. Night terrors, itching, brain "zaps" like electricity, and insomnia. After a week or so these symptoms faded but I still have the joint pain. My doctor said it may be months before I feel any relief.

I have Psoriatic Arthritis, my swelling started two weeks after starting Viibryd, August 2013!. Just TODAY I made the connection. My life is a mess, I can not walk withhout a cane, my knee is so swelled, my right side aches, I have been on biologics, etc. Today, I am weaning off this crap. I also get occasional night terrors, sweat horribly. Good luck to you

Yikes! I am replying to all who mention all over body pain. My short course of Vii in '12-'13 prob did cause my major body pain. By summer of '13, after Prozac, from taking that to get off of Vii, I saw a pain mgmt dr! I thought the pain was PN related from past chemo. But MY GOD have I went downhill w/ pain faster than I age (almost 42). I've been freaking bedridden & fin stopped the Cymbalta (from '13-'15/gained 30lbs!) & now doing great on 2nd try of Lexapro. It's early yet.

So in Fall of '13, saw a rheum. after oncologist noted my SED rate was 86! Holy moly! No wonder in so much pain. Get yours checked! She fin decided to listen to my complaints (since going on Vii!) about thinking I had MS! & she ordered labs for inflammation! CRP was also high. Labs don't lie. And I get labs done a lot. Granted, they nvr checked prior to Vii, but that's because I wasn't hurting to the bone all over! I nvr complained until after Vii!

So what does Forrest Labs know. Hmm....I am sure I'll be shot done from drug reps. My rheum says its Fibro now....until it "shows itself." He might be thinking Lupus? Or Cancer???

All I know is I had never read about achy posts 2-3 yrs ago. I was the one speaking out about demonic dreams.

Also, yes auditory hallucinations are very real w/ Vii. Mine came like a faint to loud bee over & over in my right ear & made my face flinch as I laid in bed. Thankfully, Prozac saved me. But I hate Prozac because of its reflux causing problems for me & it just makes me mad at my DH. Lol. The ultimate divorce drug for some!

Hang in there if on Vii. I was in the 60mg crowd. That was prescribed. And when I tried going down to 40 mg, it didn't work as well. I've learned I have more GAD & SAD. So SSRI's work better. Cymbalta was no AD & Lexapro is working was SAD! I stopped the Wellbutrin many mos ago because I needed Xanax by 4pm everyday on it. But boy, is that a great PURIFIED caffeine & mood lifter!??

If anyone wants to direct me to a convo page about all meds, I'd love to help. I do feel my experiences outside of Vii, are + & worth sharing.

Basically, I have run out of energy discussing Vii. Posts don't lie & no need for me to share my story anymore. I was sadly, attacked at every turn by a drug rep 1-2 yrs ago. She wanted me to "go away." Hahaha.

At that time...umm...no. I just made my voice louder! Hugs y'all!

Your depression was probably worse, not bc of you personally, rather "discontinuation syndrome." So many people think they're getting their depression & anxiety back when really it may just be the brain chemical readjusting & not the depression returning. That's when many will go back on the med they're trying to quit bc the adjustment period feels very frightening (rightly so bc we may feel our depression/anxiety is coming back). That's not to say it couldn't be coming back but there's a lot of research stating that the depression/anxiety is temporary from discontinuing. If you can get through that "hump", many will be just fine.

I too found Cymbalta to be the best. I'm sad I ever switched. I thought it was pooping out & it may have been but my worst day on Cymbalta wasn't bad in retrospect. I tried going back on it but it didn't work like it did when I first tried it 6 yrs prior.

I wish j knew what I know now- to get blood work checked like Thyroid, Iron, Vitamin D etc. I am D deficient and now on 5000 iu D3/day per my psychiatrist.

I came here originally wondering if Viibryd was causing joint & body aches & found a lot of ppl complain of this (I also googled many other AD's & they have just as many complaints with joint & body aches). I wonder how many of us have D defenciency and aren't treated as 2 common side effects are Depression & Body/Bone/Joint aches!

The Dr told me to give it a minimum of 4 weeks on the D3 to notice a difference. I'm 2.5 weeks in my hips have already stopped hurting!

Wishing everyone health and wellness!

You're symptoms are not unusual(except maybe the leg and joint problems.) I started viibryd in mid January as I went down on cymbalta. Had ups and downs over 6 weeks and decided to taper off it. Was not getting same therapeutic effect as cymbalta having been on for 7 years. The scary part ( still) was tItrating back up as the depression was intense. Feeling better last few days. THE WEIGHT issue......
You will gain some weight on almost every medication..( especially if you have been on a medication more than a few years),..... Unless: you rigorously excersise at least 3 times a week for about an hour. That was the reason I tried stopping cymbalta. On the other hand , wellbutrin.. The "speed" drug will make you lose lots of weight if you can tolerate it more than 2 weeks. It made me literally "sick with more serious depression,
If viibryd is truly working,, stay there but excersise on treadmill and at least you will probably maintain your weight or lose a pound or two. It's UP and DOWN with weight but believe me, better to be up a bit than severely depressed and anxious. You may find cymbalta to be the best; I initially dropped 6 lbs but after 3 or 4 years gained it back; even with healthy eating. Luck to you!

Dena,

Are you on any other medications? I've never had itching from Viibryd but I did get unusually burnt in the sun one day last year when I tried Abilify for a month.

I haven't read about sun sensitivity and Viibryd but I do know many other meds can cause sun sensitivity.

I've been itchy on no meds from the sun but just from tanned/burnt/dry skin. Also, as I age, I find myself sensitive to some sunscreens when they never caused issues before.

I just got back from the beach myself but didn't have any issues.

Look into other meds you may be on, new laundry soaps, sand flea bites (I know that's a stretch but I've had sand flea bites before!), dry skin, new food you may have eaten, etc.

Call your doctor if it becomes bothersome.

Update us if you find anything out & wishing you non-itching skin very soon!

I have been on Vibryd for almost a year. Yes, I have the bad dreams and occassionally wet the bed. Otherwise, been a life saver for me. I've been on them all. My question is that I went to the beach for the first time in 14 yrs. I am not burned but cannot stop itching everywhere the sun touched. I've tried aloe, lotion, benadryl, and prayer. No relief, no sleep going on 24 hours. Any suggestions?

Get off the med...my joints hurt and my feet hurt so bad I couldn't even walk. I have been off over a year now and things might be getting better slowly but some may be permanent not sure. It is a bad med, yes I got insomnia have to take 2mg xanax and benadryl 50mg and melatonin 6 mg to sleep. Plus 2 Tramadol for the pain, it is so not worth it.

I am a 57 year old female. I have been on Viibryd for about 8 months. I felt great in the beginning, no mood swings, or side effects. Except an occasional nightmare, which really didn't bother me. But about 5-6 months ago, I did a slight ringing in my ears, but it was getting louder. I do work in a noisy work environment, so wasn't sure if it was from that. Has anyone else experienced loud ear ringing? It is the worse when I am in bed, it is very loud, and I weren't use to it, I would be going
nuts It has gotten louder in the past 4 months. I just wondered if this is aside effect. Itake40mg. Also, I have noticed very painful joints in my knees and feet. Is this a side effect. Plus I have gained about 8 pounds, just all of a sudden. And I feel just terrible when I wake up in the morning, like an elephant is sitting on top of me. It is so hard to get get out of bed, then the first few steps I take, hurt. Are these all side effects? The weight gain bothers me the most. I don't eat a lot, and have kept a steady weight. But this extra weight just kind of popped up. Now I have the dreaded 'muffin top'. Yuk! I have never had that before. Plus I have the insomnia as well. I'll get up during the weekends at around 1:30 - 2:00. wide awake and watch TV until about 4:00-5:00 AM. And if I don't take an Ambien to help me fall asleep, I would be up for hours until I was tired enough for bed. And then I just lay there, awake.

I've been on 40 mg viibryd for about 3 months and 20 mg for 2 years prior to that. In the last 2 months, I developed very sore elbows and forearms with no explanation. I don't know if this is pain is related to the drug or not but it is very bothersome. I have decided to stop taking the viibryd but I don't know when I should expect to see results in my pain. I am also seeing my family doctor to rule out other causes. Has anyone gone through this?

Can someone tell me if the side effects they had from Viibryd (like liquid bowel movements & body aches), went away after awhile after stopping Viibryd?

I'm on it too for 3 1/2 months. Started at 5mg then 10mg then 20mg. All fine mentally until 20mg then the diarrhea started. Had for 8 weeks. Wasn't painful, just uncomfortable & unpredictable. Seemed to happen on days I ate vegetables like cooked cauliflower, tomatoes, etc. I'm 43 & have never had IBS/gastro issues nor vegetable issues.

Called Psych 2 weeks about the diarrhea. They had me go to 10mg & see if that helps. It's 2 weeks & I'm still have unpredictable blowouts. Luckily, no pooping my pants, but I could see how that could happen! I do know Zoloft gave my friend diarrhea & she said it took awhile for it to go away after stopping the med.

The other thing I've noticed is body aches like flu body aches but no illness or fever. First time I had body aches like this was tapering off of Pristiq while starting V back in Dec 2014. Those went away. Next time I noticed was one month ago (appx 10 days after totally stopping Pristiq- I slowly tapered Pristiq). Fast forward to now, 2 weeks after lowering Viibryd dose, body aches the past 3 days. I also had body aches for 2-3 days last week too.

Am unsure if the aches are from the med or from lowering the dose, kind of like a discontinuation effect (even though I have not discontinued, just lowered dose).

I would love any responses to my story. After my last years meltdown I swore I'd tolerate anything to get out of the anxious/depressed hole I was in. Mentally feeling better but feeling like I was hit by a Mac truck and having unpredictable liquid blowouts is affecting my well being!

Thanks for listening and replying!
