I've had a lot of the side effects that viibryd had to offer, and after 6 wks I finally think my body is starting to adjust. It was a very rough ride. The stomach issues are still there but not as severe as they were in the beginning. I finally feel human. As far as feeling myself I forgot what that was. I'm guessing antidepressents do that to you.

I have been on Viibryd for 6 months. I started with 10 and stayed on 10mg for 2 months. Then the depression came back stronger. My doctor increased the Viibryd to 20 with 5mcg of Ritalin am and noon. I instantly felt better. Up until December I had good energy and much of the depression seemed to fall away. I always sleep poorly so taking sleep meds is normal for me. I have not had nightmares like others or brain zaps. I have had trouble reaching orgasm or any interest in sex. I take my Viibryd in the am with a meal. I think if I take it with too small a meal I feel shaky. I am noticing hair loss but not sure if that is part of a low thryoid or that medication. I am going through menopause which is not helpful figuring out what is causing which symptoms. I just want to say that it has helped me a lot and I don't have the joint pain thankfully. It has saved my life but I'm now weaning down to 15 from 20. Hopefully it won't be as difficult as some on this post. Best to all of you.

DON'T let this freak you out -- for maybe 2 days in the beginning my eyesight was a little blurry. The sheet they give you is impossible to read so I went to the website, and on the tab for the Physicians this was listed as common (1 in 100 people) didn't say if it was permanent or what, but mine went away. I haven't seen anyone else mention this. Good luck ;-)

I am having so much trouble in this area. I've started taking fiber drinks, they help...but still unpredictable. Added a colon health pill by aphillips also. I need to look for a job but can't. Love how I feel but what about the rest of my life? Scared NOT to take it!

Corney Bean, your question was answered weeks ago.
ONE MORE TIME:

Corney bean ask your primary M.D. for Diphen/Atropine tabs. I take two a day and it controls diarrhea. It is the prescription version of immodium. I usually take it in the morning before heading out to start my day. You have to listen to your body and when at home and this med is wearing out allow your body to eliminate.

Yes, I think I should take stock in the generi for Immodium. I have more often than not unable to leave my house and had/have to keep it with me where ever I go. I've been checked from both ends and the only thing they come up with is chronic IBS. With Viibryd, however, my immodium generic does not work. I have taken as many as 3 at a time and again in an hour. So it does NOT work for everyone. Fiber also works even though you'd think the oposite. Colon Health by Phillips works at times. Nothing works well all the time. I am having trouble deciding what to do..stay home and feel like myself, or wean off Viibryd and not care to live again.
I would suggest anyone to try Viibryd as each of us is different. It certainly does help my mental issues.

Mario...what was your dosage before you quit. I'm on 20 mg now along with Deplin(which I don't know if it does anything) but I know when I went up a dosage I had all kinds of side effects. I'm thinking about getting off it also as I don't see it's doing me any good either. I also have a thyroid problem which may be contributing to it I don't know. Best of luck to the ones that it works for but I can't say it's done anything for me.

I want off this stuff! Surely there has to be something else! I have RA and have had more than aches and found bones I didn't know I had. I am getting the joint pains others have talked about and kept moving to calm them down. But what is it doing to me. I use Enbrel inj to keep my RA at bay. My dr said this med creates seratonin in the stomach and when there is an abundance it runs right through. I also have had, and I'm not sure, possible mini stokes. I was told next time call 911 if I'm alone. This is only after being on viibryd a month and now again.
Mario have you had any bad effects since stopping? I would think going down a dose first might make it easier. I am only on 20 mg. N I know I will be upped! NO! I want off. Oh Headaches too! What's a brain zap?
To the nineteen yr old. I think I'd try another dr too! It's nice to read what others think!

Mario thank you big time. Maybe it was "brain zaps" I was having. Not possible mini strokes. I would get incredibly tired. Then my vision would get like when the old flash bulbs went off in your face. But it didn't stop for a bit. I could hardly keep any concentration or conversation. I felt as if I were out at a distance. Does this sound familiar? It has only happened twice. First time I actually fell straight on my face.

If I take the Viibryd way late I do that too - the gasping for air when waking up thing. Or I will swallow air and wake up feeling like a balloon is about to pop! *really wierd*. But There is A LOT of negative on here, but I LOVE THIS DRUG!!! I am a recovering addict, (on suboxone for opiate dependency) , and I have had Depression/bipolar stuff for a loooooong time and have tied many many many different drugs. This is the first one that i feel...NORMAL AGAIN!!!!!! Its amazing! i have experienced a slight bit of joint pain, and im not sure if the agitation I have had occasionally is from the V, or PMS. (or just being -plain out aggravated, lol). But I cant tel when I havent taken it, for sure. My energy level goes down. Anywho, I would say for anyone who has tried different things and hasnt found one that works, and if you have good insurance and access to a good doc, then its def worth a try. :D good luck to yall!

My BP shot up in the beginning but is good now. I'm still having the ear ringing. My PCP had no idea about the side effects except GI. GI has subsided. Had early morning awakening for about a week in the beginning. I yawn a lot in the afternoon. At 40mg for about 3 months now.

My BP has fluctuates slightly higher sometimes, too, since being on the Viibryd. But I can usually link the periods of elevation to when my energy spikes. It's one of those good news / bad news things.

Regarding the "munchies", that was a substantial issue for me during the first 4-6 weeks, but it went away. My appetite and weight are all normal. There's definitely an adjustment period to this medication, and for a lot of people, it never does work out. For me, it's been life-changing... and I'm very, very hopeful it will last. Best of luck to everyone as you all grapple with depression. It's such a curse for us.

I have also put on alot of weight when I was on cymbalta and also from viibryd. Not happy with that, but I believe it comes with territory. I'll be going to the doc at the end of the month I really would like switch, we'll see.

That's what kept happening to me. Every day to every 2 days. My doc said viibryd creates seratonin in the gut. When there is an abuntence it rushes out. More like gushes out if u ask me. 2 ft away from the pot and couldn't make it. Some do well with imodium or the like.I tried a small dose of fiber. It helped. I am now off viibryd. Actually nice not toworry about the D word. Also look up brain zaps I didn't know what they were and thought it could be mini strokes. Only started while on viibryd. I need to try something diff. Read some back posts of Mario good infoYZ

I had a similar experience moving from 10 to 20 mg (but not to 40 mg; go figure). After a few days on 20 mg of Viibryd, I dropped back down to 10 mg by cutting the larger does in half for a week and then tried again. It worked for me. Maybe it was just the extra time my body needed to adjust.
The most severe diarrhea I experienced was reasonably controlled by a combination of Immodium and Pepto-Bismol. The P-B was mainly for the upset stomach feeling. Ultimately, Prilosec OTC ended up being best for that issue - which kind of surprised me. I still have to use the Immodium sometimes, but it always seems to do the job. It's a bit of a tradeoff in my eyes: My stomach gets upset... but I'm actually happy to be alive.
