What if any side effects are people experiencing on viibryd

So I started viibryd in june after being on Cymbalta for almost 9 years and then getting off Cymbalta last November only to have each new med fail (prozac, lexapro, cymbalta again). I really didn't have any issues with sick feelings or diarrhea. About 2 weeks ago i started experiencing horrible Parkinson-like symptoms such as my arms, legs twitching then everything tensing and shaking as i tried to fall asleep. Then a few days ago my jaw has been tensing and stiffening in the middle of the day. About a week ago right as my brain went to shut off for sleep, a huge zap and jolt went through me with a bright flash and instant massive panic attack which i had to take a .5mG of xanax. It is happening Everytime i try to sleep now so I'm actually affraid to sleep unless i take a xanax first (which i don't want to have to do). It just feels horrible and that feeling where you just KNOW something is wrong and your body is saying “HEY! THIS ISNT NORMAL!”. I cant get into my doctor until the 29th. I was seeing the nurse practitioner and shes the one who tried me on all this but told me after a certain amount of tries she HAS to refer me to a psychiatrist which i cant get in until the 10th of September because I'm a new patient. I need to get off this junk it's not for me. Seems it's helped alot of people i guess i must just be in that 2-3% that its no good for side effects-wise. I will be getting off this though. Also added i dont take this for depression i take it for severe panic and anxiety. Seems like nothing is even touching them.... :(

I just started taking the 40 mg portion of the sample pack. I spoke with my doctor and explained my side effects: extreme irritability, anxiousness, inability to sleep (even with ambien), extreme restless leg syndrome, poor memory and general mental fogginess. After explaining the side effects he kind of blew me off and said to keep taking it which was discouraging. I am not going to continue taking this any longer. My mood has not improved and the physical side effects are too much to tolerate.

Yes, I also have been this Viibryd and have never experienced sleep poralisis until now and it is awfull. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I almost killed myself on this drug! I felt like my whole life was unravelling, mainly because it was!!! NOBODY understood my odd behavior...especially me. My aches in my body were horrible and my stomach cramps were almost unbearable. Also I believe I have permanent memory damage. I get so much more confused now than I ever did. I hate that these people use us as guinea pigs. No more!

It only took 5 days for me as well...and the pain was so bad, I begged the ER personnel to just "put me to sleep".

I stopped the drug 6 months ago. I still have ringing in my ears.

I've been forced to miss only 3 days of work, but I dont have the PTO to cover it, so I had to file FMLA. I've never had such a reaction to a drug before. I still have spots in front of my eyes and occasional flashes of pains in my head. my speech is slurred somewhat, and I fumble for words. This is a dangerous drug that needs to be taken off the market

I started taking this med on Friday...by Monday I noticed some ringing in my ears and a quick flash of pain in my left temple. Tuesday I had to call off sick to work, feeling dizzy, fluish. Wednesday I made myself go to work, by noon I was throwing up and then diarrhea and stomach cramps...still feeling I had the flu. Went home a little early from work, 4 hours later, I'm taken to the ER in SEVERE pain. Felt like every nerve in my body was on fire. Nausea, dizziness, vomitting, diarrhea, ears ringing horribly, pain in every single inch of my body... After running tests, they concluded I had a severe reaction to this med. I was practically hallucinating. The Dr. told me I am fortunate I was only in the 1s week of the 10mg, because on the 20 mg or 40 mg, I would've needed to be titrated off and would've been sick the entire time. He took me off work for Thurs/Friday, giving me the entire weekend to recup... I really thought I was dying.

I started taking this viibryd medicine for anxiety and have never been on any other medicine before other than for my gallbladder disease. I felt great after 2 weeks, but I have mild osteoarthritis and it seemed to increase after those first weeks to almost debilitating pain. I was always tired and then one night I was laying in bed and was scrolling through Facebook and felt this awful electrical like jolt through my head that shot through my arms and my vision went white and My eyes began to "twitch." All of this lasting only 2 seconds or so. Followed by a few smaller rushes. I thought I was dying!!! It's like the feeling when your a kid and you wake up from a dream and your still only half awake and you get that rush that leaves you paralyzed like "something's gonna get you" but goes away quickly. I didn't get the paralyzed feeling however. (Best way I can describe it) I took another pill the next day and did some research online and could only find info about nocturnal panic attacks... Etc and if you have ms and or Lyme disease it causes similar problems but I started having these during the day too. I would take a drink of a cold drink and get a small one or hear an annoying sound and have a few rushes of these, and it seems like your hypersensitive to sounds, smells, tastes, and temperature which can all cause these to worsen. My skin would also"crawl" and I would itch all over constantly like a drug user withdrawal symptom (and no I do not use drugs of any kind) I have stopped viibryd cold turkey for the past 36 hours and all of these side effects have lessened drastically and almost diminished. These brain zaps are extremely scary and even more so if you do not know about them before taking the medicine. It was the worst day of my life It felt like! i was taking this for anxiety not depression and at this same time I began getting severe panic and anxiety attacks. I would not recommend this for anxiety AT ALL!!

I came on here to find out if anyone has had a similar experience... was on the 20 mg per day for about 8 days...i felt an amazing lift of my depression thats plagued me for years. i was having a pretty normal day... running errands and bringing my son to the park, well we got to the park and as soon as i got out of the car i could tell i was off... felt dizzy and like i was going to fall asleep. asked my son to get back in and i called my mom, apparently i told her i was going to fall asleep then started to not make sense. she called 911 and i went by ambulance to the hospital. i had an mri, ekg, ct scan and a ton of lab work- in which i mostly slept throufh--for the brief times i did wake up i was slurring my speech, and not making any sense (i somewhat remember trying to talk and being panicked that no one could understand me). well, all my tests were normal- i wasnt coherent til 930 am (was kept in the hospital overnight) the Dr gave me a rule-out diagnosis of narcolepsy, but cant confirm it w/out a sleep study. this was such a scary situation and even tho the Dr doesnt think it is a side effect- i stopped viibrid. day 3 of not being on it. the ambulance and er people thought i was either wasted or overdosed. please let me know if anyone has experienced anything similar.

I had a friend go to a CEU meeting and was told that Viibryd is causing people to have Parkinson Disease symptoms. Can be short term or long term. The lady said that some people are being treated with Parkinson's meds and seeing some improvement. Just an FYI.

I'm off now. Just started on Zoloft 2 days ago. My chest is tight, my body is sore and I just don't feel good. I hope the symptoms go away. I felt great before I started this drug. I have started having a bad backache, possibly acid reflux when I go to sleep. This could be because, as I understand it, Viibryd deposits seratonin into your stomach? Forget call their corporate offices for information. They are very rude.

Viibryd is poison get off it cold turkey before you have permanent damage. I quit cold turkey and the zaps diminish day by day.

I'm having the awful head zaps too. They are mostly @ night when I'm laying down. I'm afraid to sleep. These are terrible. I wondered if I was actually moving & spinning but my husband said "no." I feel like I've been electrocuted from inside my brain, swishes (sounds like a swoosh) around in my head, the weird sound gets loud & I feel as though I'm getting ready to go unconscious. When that feeling is gone my neck is weak & I feel wore out. I'm afraid to stop it because I don't want the zaps to get worse. I've noticed if I'm tired but awake ill get a lil light headed without the swooshing feeling, I keep my eyes wide open to try & avoid them.

I have been off of med since about 6 months and I am still in awful pain. The pain in my head the diagnosed me with Occipital Neuralgia . My legs and my my heels hurt constantly and my hands and my wrist. Well, they now want to send me to Mayo! This all started when I was was on the Viibryd. Please don't take that medicine. Ibuprofen 800mg I take for the head pain and and Lortab for all the other pains. The doctor just looks at me like I am crazy when I tell him I think the Viibryd is to blame. I hope this all goes away someday.

I'm so upset that I started this drug!! My doc added this to my wellbutrin 150 back in Oct 2012. I thought it was great----at first! Then came the brain zaps and some of you call them. Especially bad at night when it gets quiet. Then the awful nightscares! I have never had such scary dreams. In December, once I was at full dosage, I started having spasms in my hands and feet, like I had Muscualar dystrophy. On christmas eve, I was in bed having awful pain down my legs. I went off the meds gradually. It wasn't worth it. The PROBLEM is, here we are July 31, 2013, 7 months later and I still have the pain in my legs and feet. I sometimes can't sleep. I have to take lyrica now but it doesn't help completely. I'm only 49, sometimes are can hardly walk and forget wearing heels for long periods. My suggestion is to do your homework on this stuff and decide if the side effects are worth it, especially if they won't go away, like mine.

Im an RN as well (which sometimes i think makes things worse). I had a near syncopal episode at a grad party for my little sister (was not drinking) and ended up in the er. I then was on the couch for a week with severe weakness, dizziness and fatigue after stopping the drug. Prior to me er visit i had jist increased to 40mg 4 or 5 days before. The doctors dont believe its from the viibryd but cant pin it on anything else. Im going to go to a neurologist and my pcp this week to rule out any other causes. Ive missed two full weeks of work from this. Its been 5 weeks of off and on symptoms. Their studies were not sufficient before releasing the drug it seems.

I had the same zaps and nightmares. At first it was when I missed a pill, then it happened even when I took the pill. I had to go off of the viibryd. I think it shouldn't be on the market. I'm soooo happy to be off of it.

Well, it appears that you have just experienced what most call a 'brain zap'. I've never had one, and I'm sorry you did. I do have a problem waking up in the morning or after sleeping for a decent amount of time. I take 20 in the morning. I have experienced one nightmare/hallucination in the past, which I've described in a past post. I'll make it the Cliff Notes version here (although I'm sure you're too young to know what they are-LOL). I was sleeping and heard a fire engine going by my house, but in my drug stupor, thought it was a wildfire in my hills and proceeded to phone my Mom and tell her not to worry and then gathered up my cat carriers to secure my pets for evacuation, when a fire engine was simply passing by my house. Very scary.

I'm down to 10 now and will be stopping taking this med. It's just too weird.
