Viibryd And Anxiety
UpdatedI'm 19. Had a bit of a panic attack/nervous breakdown last year while dealing with school and some other issues in my life. I went to a psych. She gave me some Viibryd (starter pack, of course) and I took it. 5/10/15/20 MGs. I stopped at 20MGs. This was over a year and a half ago, and I'm starting to have mixed feelings about Viibryd. It turned my life around at that point, for sure. I was able to handle my anxiety and get my life under control. But, 1.5Yrs later I'm still on 20mgs/day because of 1 bad day I had with my anxiety? Idk. I feel as if it's unnecessary. I actually feel worse on the days I take it. Stomach issues, etc. are things I don't want to deal with. So, doing the wrong thing, I kinda just pulled myself off of them and haven't taken them in 2-3 weeks and honestly feel kinda better than I have in a long time. Just giving my story, not telling anyone to not take them, because they definitely work. I think I'm feeling some withdrawal symptoms lately, just general nervousness, weird sleeping patterns, stomach issues, random bad moods, and it's kinda scaring me, which is why I'm here, which is my anxiety kicking in..so maybe I'm not handling without them too well. Anyone who has dealt with the withdrawal comment! I'm considering just going back and taking 10/15mgs and slowly taking myself off instead of this ill advised method.

Be sure not to over-analyze yourself either. Nothing wrong with researching the stuff you are putting in your body. I think it's completely rational for you to be on the Internet about a drug you were on for quite some time. I like your thought on slowly weaning off, I think that's always a good idea.
I've been on the stuff for about 3 weeks. 40mg was a bit intense, so I went to 30mg, but still feel anxious- so I am starting to think I should go back to 20mg and stay there for a while before re-exploring 30mg. It seems like a lot of people get efficacy at 20mg, so we will see.
Was prescribed the stuff for moderate GAD. It's helped me be a lot more positive, but hasn't helped TOO much with the anxiety (maybe just a 30-50% improvement so far.) I'd like to see 85% improvement.
Also not sure if the "gameplan" is to have me permanently on AD's - hopefully not, but I feel like I am innately a negative person. Hopefully I can condition myself out of it.
My anxiety started around your age! My thing is you have to be careful with these meds! Some like Effexor are a horrible experiance to come off of on your own! They can cause severe suicidal thoughts and sever mood swings, I know because I tried to come off meds I deamed unnecessary.I'm taking viibryd now and I feel the same as the response above, a little to extreme with the side effects! Anytime you feel your meds are not doing you good, ALWAYS contact your doctor and do it under their supervision! it took me a while to find the right med! At 19 to 26 I tried a lot of different meds for my severe anxiety, one would work for a year then stop! The best for me and it's always different for each person, but the best for me was the Effexor xr. It didn't give me the jitters like viibryd. I guess my point for you is talk to a doctor, tell them about the research you have done and how viibryd made you feel.it sounds like you might feel like your not normal if your taking an antidepressant. I went thru that phase I didn't want anything to be wrong with me! But sometimes to be normal you need a little help! So never feel bad about having to take medication! You don't have to be on it forever, but at your age your body's hormones are really kicking around! My 20 s were real bad but once I turned 27 I came off my medication and did fine for 4 years.....until I got pregnant (hence more hormones) and I had to start taking something for ppd! So I don't feel bad about myself for having to have a little help! Stay positive and proud of yourself! Cause dragging yourself thru life with this monkey on your back makes you one bad ass chick! We all are!and keep reminding yourself that, and that our not weak because your still here girl! Good luck..... And always call your doc if you hate your meds! Have them tell you how to taper!
