Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?
Thanks!
Yup! feeling pretty good. But it has not as of yet been a full week, so fingers crossed. If I get fat all bets are off.
I was told by neuro. that Vii was nearly identical to Effexor. Not trying to create confusion, just mentioning. I had taken Buspar for quite awhile. I think it was calming. Made me have a dizzy spell feeling (is common) for a few sec. about 20 min. after taking it. Then I just never knew if it was really working for anxiety or just making me feel odd. For example, while out shopping, I'd have OCD thoughts that I was too caught up in my own focus to socialize normally. Which then made me anxious. Be on the lookout for Buspar giving you a floaty feeling. Interesting Dr. prescribed it w/ Vii. Did you ask him if he knew Buspar was already in Vii?
Also, interesting topic before on not taking Wellbutrin w/ Vii.
I am on Cymbalta & tried to cut back & could've crawled out of my skin tonite. Darn. I knew it has a tough weaning track record like Vii. So I caved & took the 60mg. dose. I am tired of the daytime sleepiness from the Cymbalta.
:D
Not sure if that's true that Vii is Paxil & Buspar. My Dr just added 20mg/day of Buspar to my 40mg/day of Viibryd regimen for my anxiety, now that my depression seems under control. It really has helped. I don't fidget and get upset as much as before. And I seem to be able to handle my jerk of a boss much better too ;-)
Just read that Viibryd is Paxil & Buspar combined. But not sure if this is a medical fact or Dr's personal opinion.
I can't find the info grid that mentioned the 'other' name w/ the LLC noted. The sites that I saw the info on said they were updated 2 days ago.
Forest reps. are definitely keeping tabs on what people have to say about Viibryd! So keep posting your reviews!
:)
So true Barbie!! Glad you found what worked... All meds are different to all people... I never had the stomach problems with Viibryd... But now you have found what works and that is great!!
Was on Viibryd for 15 months for uncontrollable anxeity . Had loose stools every day i was on it. it worked for 8 months then i had an 8 week bout with anxeity . Got back under control for 3 months then had another long bout of anxeity. Had Dr. Change my med to Paxil because the vi was not working at all. Now I feel completely normal. No loose stools anymore either. No side effects at all. Thank god I finally found the right med for my condition.
Hi all!! I am still doing great on it....and the side effects to pass.... If you haven't read all the post, Viibryd gave me my life back!! The one side effect that it gave me was to be able to drive again. I hadn't been able to drive except on side roads and in years, and now I can drive all over!!! Took my first big trip a couple of weeks ago.... Haven't had a vehicle that I could trust til now and it was great!!! I actually enjoyed it! I have been on it since July 15, 2011......:)
There is no case suit for Viibryd and Forest didn't change their name...by the way...I looked it up...
to Gayle: That's great!!! ---- bully for you!! Isn't it amazing that every once and again, the doctors actually KNOW something!! ;) [a wise guy? Me? Couldn't be!]
@tracy--since vyvanse is dextroamphetamine (with amino acid l-lysine added), i don't see how you could be viewed as "that patient" for requesting adderal... does this make any sense??
actually, to my great surprise my Dr. said that it was the combination of Wellbutrin (which i have been on forever) and the new Vibryd which was causing my symptoms. I found that hard to believe. He upped my dosage of vibryd to 30mgs and took be off the wellbutrin cold turkey. I thought it was a crazy move. But it seems to be working. My memory is sharper, my depression is better (for now) but I am just as tired and lazy as before. Perhaps a little more motivated to DO more during the day and with less isolation. I'm supposed to give it a week and call him back. But I think it is working. (and yes, i did forget!) wise guy.
It really kicked the depression. I felt more myself than I have in a long time. It really intensified my anxiety and anger though. I mean 0 to furious in 10 seconds! No tolerance or filter what so ever. Long story short, after 30 days I'm off of it
Hey, Gayle --- you didn't forget did you? (Just kidding!) Was wondering if you got any help from your doctor visit. If you'd care to share . . . .
Hi, Dominic. (How could you possibly be a bother?) I'm glad you asked. I've been meaning to post again here, but it slips my mind when I'm at the computer. With the first full week of 20mg doses behind me, I'm happy to report that I didn't get sick at all from the increased dosage. And if it were based on expectation, I would have surely been sick; I was so sure it would happen. So there were 9 days of "morning sickness" altogether (told my Dr I thot I was pregnant. Gotta keep laughing.) 4 of the past 7 days, I've felt a calm positivity about the future, a sort of "I can handle this life thing." That's rare for me, in the past, those times came maybe 2x/year. Not euphoric; in fact, yesterday one of my big triggers got tripped, and I'm still working my way up from the suicidal bottoms. I mention this because I wouldn't want anyone to think that Viibryd will make us into happy idiots. From my long years of experience, however, I'm thinking this one shows more promise than all the others I've taken. My Dr said he that this would be my best bet so far, and it seems he's right.
So, Dominic, brace yourself for a rough start, and maybe it won't happen. If it does, and you can tough it out, it may prove to be well worth the struggle. No one knows how it will go for you; it may be harder, it may be easier. There's only one way to find out . . . . Best of luck, and please do let me know how it's going. (No, you WON'T be a bother!!)
Hi theoldman :),
Sorry to bother you but I am looking to potentially get on Viibryd and I wanted to hear about some experiences from people who have made it through the introductory phase (I know side effects can be rough in the beginning).
I was on Effexor for almost 10 years, but came off of it about six months ago. I've been doing okay, but can't seem to shake the sadness sometimes... anywho, anything you could tell me about your experience would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks in advance,
Dom
I am on Vyvanse 40mg for ADD and Effexor XR 75mg because of the migranes I get once the Vyvanse wears off.. The NP at my Dr office advised that the migraines are from my serotonin levels going way down once the vyvanse wore off. Vyvanse and Effexor did great for a while. I didn't feel a difference of who I was. I didn't quite have depression issues, but the Effexor helped me be more positive. Before these meds, I had mood swings and could be very hateful, the Effexor helped with that. Ever since I was on the Effexor, my blood pressure got high. Talked to the NP about it and she prescribed me Viibryd. I'm a little nervous reading some of these more recent cons of the drug. I will start it and see how it goes. I really wish my NP or Psychiatrist would switch my ADD med. Do you think if I requested to try Adderall, that they may think that I want it for other reasons than ADD? I just don't want to be "that" patient.. FYI I felt the BEST when I was on 30mg of Vyvanse. The only problem was the migraines at 12pm every day.
Viibryd warning: Legal action is in the works due to it causing SLEEP PARALYSIS & other serious side effects. Especially a severe form of discontinuation syndrome!!! Forest Labs (now under a new name?) refuses to acknowledge the sleep paralysis, but it is a problem for many. More to come!
I'm on my way as we speak. If I can remember how to get there. lol.
Hey, Gayle. That stuff sounds awful. Especially the memory things, or at least that's what would bother me the most. That's not a life! My thought is that you want to talk to your doctor ASAP, like on an emergency basis. This is a psychiatrist? If that dr says something like, "oh, just wait, it will get better" I would at the very least CONSULT another. You only mentioned one other med; but there are multitudes available, and every one hits each of us a little bit differently.
You didn't specify your dose in this message. Maybe back down a bit?
Today I finally got my first 20 mg dose of Viibryd. Dr told me to wait until there was NO sickness, took an extra week, but had 4 days in a row no sickness. (Well, headaches, but uncertain of cause, and manageable) The depression, of course, goes on abated, but that's why we take the stuff, right? Good luck, and hang on. Talk to your doctor, be firm, factual, as unemotional as you can manage (Do you write things down before you go? Have a close friend to go with you, maybe?) I hope to see a message from you soon with some good news in it. You need that, even if just a little bit, because it's hope that keeps us going. Excelsior!!
I have been on it for at least two months and I am experiencing several rather disturbing symptoms. One is vivid dreaming which stays with you. While the dreams are not nightmares, one does not necessarily want to dream about your deceased relatives on a daily basis and then remember them vividly. The other is that I wake up with a head full of sweat. The third is extreme memory disturbances. Every day i go to the wrong appointment or gym class at the wrong time, I forget something I have just learned instantly, I get my days mixed up, etc. I don't know if I can continue on like this and I am going to see the doctor. He changed me from lexapro because I was lethargic and experiencing weight gain, but now I can't stop eating sweets and have gained ten pounds. I am just at a loss. I do feel more energetic, I have been going to gym, and feel more ambitious. But if I can't get in the car on the right day for a yoga class, what is the point. I am so frustrated.
Just finishing 1st week of Viibryd, want to encourage folks who are leery. Been diagnosed with MDD since ca. 1980, self-medicated before that. Have taken all the antidepressants I've ever heard of. Prozac way back when I attempted suicide, all the new ones since. Just got off EMSAM due to interaction difficulties during/post-op for serial surgeries, knowing more upcoming, intermittently until death. Dr. gave me Viibryd starter pack; I went home and read scary blogs about it. During 2-week cessation of MAOI, tried to forget about scares, then night before starting Vii, found this blog. More scares, but some positives. First day on Vii, nausea started within 1st hour, diarrhea in 2nd hour. Felt sick all day. 2nd day, nearly same. 3rd day a.m., called Dr, wanted to quit. "No. Just stay on 10mg for an extra week." "OK." That p.m., felt better. 4th day much better, no diarrhea, just upset bowel feeling. 5th day, called Dr to ask if I should go up to 20 mg next week because side effects were so much better, and depression not as severe. (2 1/2 weeks of hell were enuf!) Dr advised to wait anyway, hoping to avoid repeat of side effects from upward titration. Today, a.m., just some discomfort down there. Am so glad I listened to Dr. Am hoping that this med will provide more relief than those before. Hope is a very good thing!!
