I have been on this med for 5 weeks and have experienced a large amount of hair loss

I'm sad to say I have to stop taking Viibryd. I have been on it for 15 days and thought was starting to feel better, however I have been very angry and agitated. I thought it was just all the stress from everything but when a normal call at work made me want to put my fist through the monitor I knew there was an issue. My friend also mentioned that I have been super angry and for her to say something it must be bad. I wish you all the best of luck and hope that whatever I try next works.

Hi Ed, I wouldn't stop this med I don't think for any reason unless I just started ballooning up...lol. I can't do the gaining weight thing. But I know that it isn't only the med. Not many just make you gain weight for no reason....I don't think anyways. I think I have been just feeling so good that I have been eating things I shouldn't....and hopefully it isn't my thyroid, but if it were that, I could get my med upped to fix that. I have been watching it the last couple of days and feel a little better, don't feel as much like a fat cow as the other day...lol...Just have to watch it and NOT eat stuff when I know it is just a craving and not really hunger. I found a really good breakfast with 26 grams of protein, gluten free (not that I am on a gluten free diet, but it doesn't hurt...lol) and only 6 grams of sugar. It is a Cedarlane brand Garden Vege and Mozzerella cheese egg white omelette....it is yum... I am also on Wellbutrin and take Xanax. This medicine has changed my life!! Hopefully this will continue!!! Hope you get the right med combo soon!!!

Hi Todd,
I am so sorry you are going through the same thing that I am. I dont know your dosage, but try to cut it in half. Im in the same boat, went from 40mg to 20 mg due to hair loss. Its still coming out :(
I reported my experience to Forrest Labs as an adverse event and also to the FDA. I would encourage
you to do the same. The rep I spoke to said there were no other complaints that came in about hair loss and there is no hair loss listed in the side effect profile. Legally, they do not have to investifate this side effect if there are no other documented complaints.

After starting Vibryd I have been having a big problem with hair loss! My hair is coming out as if I have an illness. Never had this problem before I started Vibryd. It should be listed as a side effect. I will speak to my doctor and see what she says.

Please report this to the company. Their phone #1-800-
678-1605. Make sure you get a confirmation number for your complaint. Also, please report it to the FDA, phone #1-800-FDA-1088. The company has a responsibility to investigate these complaints!
I cut my dose in half to 20mg....still rapid hair loss continues. Im stopping this drug today.

I noticed my hair falling out at the root also. It is worrying me. I didn't connect it to the Viibryd until I read the posts concerning this as a side effect. I am taking about 30 mg, since the 40 mg dose made me feel very tired during the day with insomnia at night. My mood has improved greatly though and I would hate to give it up.

to Jen: i 2 am worried about the weight gain as we're supposed to eat a light meal or a high-fat meal with this medicine. I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but in order for the medicine to get into your system @ 72% this must be done. Ex. of a light meal (from the manufacturer) bowl of cereal, 2 pcs. of toast with butter & jam/jelly & a glass of juice-oh just a light meal b 4 bed!! lol

No documented cases, so they can't document your complaint. Sounds like a proverbial catch 22!

Have been taking 40 mg every morning for about two weeks. Had a crying spell this morning. The feeling of happiness and patience has left. I'll see what happens tomorrow with another dose tomorrow. Still have a problem sleeping an xanax works the best for that.

I finished the sample pack of the Viibryd and have been on the 40mg for a week now. I don't know if it's because I had read this thread first, or if it's an actual side effect for me, but I feel like my hair is thinner and that there's more falling out. I can't tell if it's just my imagination or what. Has anyone experienced this? And also, did it improve after a couple more weeks on the 40mg? Thanks!

i noticed alot of you are writing about hair loss, i looked this up & it says on the average each person looses between 50 to 100 strands of hair a day!! i thought that was a little high but that's what the internet said, i thought it was around 50?? i'm on my 1st dose of 40 mg. tonite when do the loose stools stop & how long before we start feeling better?? any answers i would appreciate it very much, thank you

Great news to report!!! For those of you that have been reading my post....I drove on the interstate!!! I am soooo thrilled with this medicine!! My daughter was estatic. We went hiking with the dogs and then I drove home. By the time I got home I was ready for another road trip!!! I haven't driven on a hw in years!!

I started V on 10/10/11 only problem is I am having terrible gas , bloating and diarrhea. My doc said this should pass soon. I was on Cymbalta that made me feel terrible. So I hope this works.
