Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Take with more food and/or a lot of water. It would make sense to take any other over the counter meds to settle down the stomach too. It ought to go away in a very short number of days. I am on 30 mg and no side effects of import. Drug is working best of the SSRIs I have had to be on in the last 14 years.

Thanks Joe I'm hoping once I'm at 30mg I feel much better, after being on so many different meds throughout the years, I just want this one to work. Fighting agaist my migraines always makes for more side effects with new meds. Still hoping for the best, and thrilled that it's working great for some people!!

I started taking this 3 months ago... It took bout 11 days b4 I stated to feel normal again... And my pain level has dropped from a 10 plus to some days almost no pain at all. Drink lot of water. I took lexapro too but the viibryd had less side affects. I had side effects when I got to the full 40mg so I went down to 20mg and I feel better.

Donna, I eat a high protein breakfast and then take the pill in the morning in the middle of the meal. This really helps metabolize the pill so it works properly. I also take a thyroid med that needs to be taken on an empty stomach, so I take that when I wake up, then eat breakfast an hour later with my other meds including the viibryd. Hope that helps.

Hello, I was on 100mg of pristiq and tried to wean to 50mg, not good results at all!!!!!!!!! I ended up in the er with a severe panic attack! I do not recommend this drug to anyone, and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy, (including my ex husband!). My doc wants me to try Viibryd, but Ive been reading all the comments about nausea and Im scared to try it, but Im not sleeping at night and I need to try something, I wish I never ever took any of these meds at all! This has been a nightmare!

I would give the Klonopin a little more time. I have taken it for 23 years (!!!). Over the years, I have been put on every anti-depressant on the market hoping to switch over from the Klonopin, didn't work. In November of last year I was diagnosed with MDD. I was dreading trying another anti-depressant, but I have been on the Viibryd (along with the klonopin) for about a month now and I think it is amazing. I had the usual side-effects in the beginning, but nothing like those of other medications. I think we have a winner here folks!!

I've been weaning myself off very slowly over the past.3 weeks. I started out at 40 & now I'm down to 25 mg of viibryd, of course I have to cut the pills. I'm feeling better than I have in a VERY long time.my mind is no longer in a fog, my memory is already improving. im amazed at how good I feel compared to 3 weeks ago .

Hi all, I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've now taken Viibryd for a month. I haven't gotten any more migraines, but the stomach issue continues to be a problem. I was on vacation the last 5 days and had issues 2 hours after I took the Viibryd every day, which really put a damper on my trip. I get cramps and then need to find a bathroom right away. I take the 20mg with my main meal of the day but it doesn't seem to matter.
I still don't know how I feel on this drug. I have very vivid dreams and some of them are bad dreams - really bizarre, negative images. It's very strange. My anxiety is good, though, and I haven't needed to take any Xanax or Klonopin for anxiety in crowds like I had to do with Celexa. The brain zaps finally stopped (I weaned off of Celexa 40mg). Also, I am not sleepy with this medication, and in fact find myself alot more alert and awake, and wanting to do alot more instead of stay in bed all day during the weekends, so that is good. Anyway, I wanted to post to let everyone know how things were going now that I've been on it for a month. I hope the stomach issues go away - that part sucks. Good luck to you all.

Tis is for Birdie. I too have the bathroom issues. Been on it now for 4 months. I settled on 30mg. Usually almost everyday my bowels are a mixed bag of signals. Sometimes bowels are normal and the next thing I know it's like diarreha. Cramps are not usually too bad with it. I can deal with it but just hope that my body will adjust sooner than later. As far as the social part of my anxiety, I still don't mesh well in social situations. But it seems to be working pretty well on all my other anxeity and panic issues.

This is very strange to have GI tract troubles as you describe. I don't know your age, but, you may have another GI disorder that has cropped up, maybe IBS, or other kinds of colon inflammatory disorders. If you are 50 or older, a colonscopy is very appropriate to see what maybe going on.
I would not suffer in this way, and I would suggest a gastroenterologist should be seen for a consult.
One way or the other, I hope you can find relief and peace with a positive improvement in the mental conditions.
I am personally now very satisfied with 30 mg of Viibryd.
Good luck!

Just an update, I am now on 30mgs, Ive been on vii now for 4 or 5 weeks, migraines are the same, still have them constantly, when I take the vii in the am with food I'm sick to my stomach for about 2 to 3 hours. My depression and anxiety are somewhat better, I still have zero energy...I thought I was starting to feel better but it only lasted a few days:(. I'm giving it a few more weeks, but after 2 months if I'm not feeling a lot better, unfortunately I will go off it and start over again.

Birdie, I had terrible stomach problems beginning within the first hour of taking my first dose of viibryd. It lasted for a month and slowly got better. Its a side effect of the medication . My mom also tried viibryd , but had to stop because of the constant diarrhea and stomach pain . Good luck with it

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the imput, but it is definately from the Viibryd. Never had issues until I started taking this Med. They do say tha ssris are absorbed thru your intestines.I’m reading more and more comments detailing lower GI issues (cramps, diarrhea, bloating, etc.), feeling spacey, sluggishness, fatigue, and headache. Remember, Viibryd directly influences serotonin and is a 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist. Some 80% of our serotonin supply is located in the gut, where it’s used to regulate intestinal movements. 5-HT1A receptor agonists decrease blood pressure and heart rate. I don’t believe these symptoms will be permanent for most, but given the action of the med it’s gonna’ take some getting used to.

I take Viibryd with Imodium AD. No more diarreah. Has anyone else tried to take an OTC anti-diarreah medication?

So I guess people are experiencing different types of gastrointestinal problems. If Immodium does not work, maybe there are other issues going on. I have been on Viibryd for one month and no longer have any side effects at all. But everyone is different.

Thank you for all of your comments on the gastro issue. I have also found that Bella Donna (prescribed for IBS) can be helpful with this, as it stops the spasms in the bowel. I am still having issues but I have hope that it will eventually go away!

Perhaps asking your doctor for a prescription of Dicyclomine, aka Bentyl, which can calm down GI tract pains or cramps.

Dicyclomine is used to treat the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Dicyclomine is in a class of medications called anticholinergics. It relieves muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract by blocking the activity of a certain natural substance in the body.

Again, I am no doctor, but, just been exposed to a lot of stuff over the years about medicine.

Thanks everyone. I will go the immodium route tomorrow. It should help. If not then ask the dr for some of what Joe was referring to.
