Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

I took the sample pack for 25 days - ended on the 40 mg dose. It seemed to help me, but I had the crazy dreams, and I had a really hard time waking up in the morning and felt really tired all the time. I also take clonazapem. Between the sleepiness and the cost of the medication, I asked to be switched to something else.

Hi. I am getting ready to start VIIBRYD & will be weaning off of Pristiq at the same time.. Dr. promised me that there is no issue w/weight gain or insomnia but reading through the board- it seems to be a common issue... I need to loose 50# & I suffer horrible insomnia- I can not afford to have either of those side effects...So needless to say,I am scared to try this med... :S

My 2 questions are 1) When do you find is the best time to take the pill? I was taking my Pristiq before bed nightly. But I see that some people need to eat with theirs..
2) What are "Brain Zaps"?

I am having issues with being aggitated, depressed, angry etc... I really hope this med helps me..My dr. said a ton of his patients are having a good response to it & it works good as a all purpose med... <> that it helps me... I have 5 kids who need mommy to be less angry & more happy :(

Thank You!

Hello Mom of 5- My rx doc is excellent @ using combinations of drugs to help me. Been on Viibryd 9 months no problems, was suicidal, severely depressed and anxious. Also on Lamotrigine cuz there were low spots the Vii didn't level, this worked. On Ativan for anxiety and Doxepin gives me 7 hrs sleep where as I had tried so many sleeping meds non worked in any dose. I've had no side effects from anything and now can continue with my Therapist without being a basket case that was hard to treat being so depressed. Good Luck.

Hi 5Kids4Me ,

Slooooowwww down...lol..you are on a forum where as most people that have had good things happen wouldn't be...just remember that. Most forums are more full of good than bad because the people with no problems have no reason to be upset...lol!! There are some on here and other forums with great results.

OK..I am one of the ones that love this med!!!!! It has changed my life!!!!!! Now...I am not going to tell you that there are no side effects, cause there usually is with most drugs. I had a few and if you have read through here, you know my story well!! A guy I work with takes it and can't tell one way or the other and never had any side effects at all!! It is different for every person that takes it.

Don't get scared... just do what the doc says! Keep an open mind and think positive.

Hope it works out well for you!!! Keep us posted!!!

Hi greyterv , Thank You for the response. I am going to take my 1st pill tonight after dinner.Hopefully all goes well. Just reading through a ton of the issues people are having sends me into a panic.Funny how something to treat that causes it w/out even taking it!! HAHA! Bit it seem there are more bad stories than good ones.
I think I am going to seek out a therapist, as I am just seeing my primary dr. who is an internist. So maybe seeing somene who specializes in these types of issues will be of more help to me vs him. I just do not even know where to start when it comes to finding a good therapist/phsyc dr.

5Kids- Yes, meds can't fix underlying issues but they can put you in a better place to work on them with a good therapist. I was referred by a friend I trusted. But if it doesn't feel like a good fit, keep looking. You will have to learn to trust this person ( the hardest thing for me ) to not abandon you and stick with you. I take my meds after dinner as well, I go to bed so early if I didn't I'd forget them. I too was horrified by all the bad stuff reported but by then I had been on it long enough to know I was one of the ones this drug works for. I have 3 girls that need me as well and I'm glad they finally don't have to see me the way I was without the meds.

I have been taking viibryd 40mg for a month and I feel great. I do still take xanax and klonipin but not as much as I used to. Hoping this stays good for awhile I've tried everything else. I've only had two side effects and its the restlessness and diarrea.

I HAVE TAKING VYBRIID FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW AND I TOO HAD VERY LOW BP AND HR ISSUES AND TAPERED TO JUST 20MG BACK FROM 40 AND IT HELPED SOME BUT STILL LATER IN THE DAY MY HR AND BP WOULD DROP SO NOW COMING OFF ALL OF IT. ALSO HAVE THE SORE JOINITS AND MUSCLES AND SINCE I LIVE WITH CHRONIC PAIN CONDITION CALLED CRPS I DIDN'T ASSOCIATE THE TWO UNTIL I READ THIS FORUM. I ALSO HAVE BEEN GETTING HEADACHES IN THE EVENING, HOT FLUSHING WORSE IN THE AM ALONG WITH SHAKING IN THE AM FOR A COUPLE HOURS AFTER WAKING UP. THE DIGESTIVE ISSUES ARE HORRIBLE AS WELL STOMACH CRAMPS AND ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE MY ENTIRE GI TRACT IS RAW INSIDE IF THAT MAKES SENSE. SO MANY ISSUES SOME VISION ISSUES AT TIMES AND EXTREME DRY EYES ALSO. THIS IS THE WORST SIDE EFFECTS FROM ANY OF THE ANTIDEPRESSANTS I HAVE TRIED IN ALMOST 12 YRS OF TRYING.SO FAR THE WITHDRAWALS AFTER 2 DAYS FROM 20MG TO NONE ARE FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS AND WORSE INABILITY TO SLEEP. FOR ME THIS MED IS POISON I THINK AND HOPE THAT ONCE OUT OF SYSTEM ALL THESE SYMPTOMS REVERSE THEMSELVES. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ON MANY ANTIDEPRESSANTS WITH LITTLE SUCCESS OTHER THAN SIDE EFFECTS.

I was on Viibryd for 5 weeks, and I QUIT. I started very slow. 5 mg., to 10 mg., with tummy aches/soft stool, and weight gain/food cravings, some sadness. I reached 20 mg. for only 2 days due to excessive sleeping (like all weekend) and feeling heavily drugged.

As I taper off (too quickly, apparently) I'm having vivid nightmares and feel like "yuk" emotionally & physically. This afternoon, I had the worst brain zaps ever. It reminded me of poison - This one scares me.

I have been on Viibryd since January and I love it. It has really helped with my depression and anxiety. It took a little longer to reach maximum effectiveness but once it did I felt like a real person for the first time in ages. I haven't gained any weight from it and as far as sleeping I find that if I take it at night with a light snack I sleep great. I do tend to have very vivid dreams where I am aware that I am dreaming but I have trouble waking up. None of the dreams have been horrible, just a little disconcerting. I hope that this helps and wish you all the best of luck.

I was on viibryd for three months and let me tell you it was the worst three months ever. I built up to it with the titrate and it made me feel so sick, but my anxiety/depression/residual schizophrenia is so bad that I was desperate to find something that worked. My schizophrenia is not full blown and only affects me in my sleep...i have horrible night terrors where I can't differentiate nightmares from reality, if I get hurt in my dreams I wake up sore. Its scary as hell and it causes alot of my anxiety bc in my dreams its always the same guy and its always bad dreams. Well after about a month of taking the viibryd it got worse, I was terrified to go to sleep bc the dreams were so vivid, like lucid dreaming. Then I started getting these weird shock things that were in my head and paralyzed me for a second. I told my all this and he just said give it another month. The dreams got worse, I would wake up screaming. I felt like I was going crazy bc I was so paranoid during the d say as well as at night. Into the third month I started seeing s*** in the corner of my eye and thats when I said enough. I told the doc I wanted off of it and he told me to just stop taking them. For three days I laid in bed hallucinating, talking to things that weren't there or so my husband said bc I don't remember most of it. I am now on seroquel and am doing great.

Yep! That's what I thought! Only naysayers report to boards. And, people way crazier than I. So, ignoring all the boards, even after I started having side effects, I bravely plunged ahead on ViiBryd. It took me three months to tolerate the 40 mgs. I kept thinking, once I get to the 40, I will be fine. Nope. Now I am a week and a half into trying to wean off. Awful. Withdraws are just as bad as everyone says. Thankfully I have not had brain zaps, but otherwise can barely function. My new motto is, if I can get out of bed and I am not having panic attacks life is good enough for me. No more drugs. They aren't worth what they put you for. Mind you, the first panic attack I get I will be running for my xanax!
