Very Quick Tolerance To Anxiety Meds.

I've been on Xanax, Lorazepam, Clonazepam, and others but I build up a tolerance if I only take it about twice a month. I don't abuse my meds. I have bad generalized and social anxiety disorder and need something for panic attacks when my Cymbalta isn't enough.

What RX for bad panic attacks resists a fast tolerance better than most?

If you only take this medicine twice in any given month its hard to have a quick tolerance to it? What happens, can you not tolerate them or they don't work for you. Perhaps you need to be treated with a different class of medicine?

They stop working for me. It may sedate me somewhat still, but it no longer helps the anxiety.

Could the Cymbalta be interfering with the anti anxiety medicines? Most medicine does take time to start working properly. Xanax & Klonopin seem to work right away,and Ativan just makes you sleepy. There might be an underlying cause of your anxiety that will not respond to a benzodiazepine, especially with an SNRI? Perhaps you need a stronger dosage although the less the better with a benzo.

Have you ever tried BuSpar? It's an anxiolytic that you take all the time, rather than just as needed. You may need to switch off of your Cymbalta to take it, but it is something you could ask your doctor about trying. It's known to help with anxiety more than the Cymbalta usually does.

Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hi I take diazepam 20mg every day plus 40ml of methadone, no buzz just feel normal but once or twice a fortnight I binge out on klonopin more diazepam amitrytiline and serequel which is really the only one that works. I can take like 7 klonopin 2mg 8 diazepam 10mg and I barely feel anything there a waste of money , only good thing as I got insomnia is I combine 5 10mg amitriptiline and just half a serequel so its 75 ml and I sleep for 10 hours so any insomniaks out there try it quitipine is medical name for serequel its a anti phych drug so hard to get .a 300mg would knock a horse out.
