My soon to be 13 year old son has been recommended to start Lovan which I understand is same as Prozac. He has suffered with anxiety issues for several years and it has worsened now that he recently started high school (in Sydney Aust.). He is often stressed and unhappy. We are worried about possible side effects and would like to know the experience of others with youngsters on it. He is having counseling as well at the moment. Has the drug helped and what side effects were experienced?

This is one of the few that is approved by the FDA for use in teenagers.
Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, weight loss and dry mouth.
Though I'm an adult, I've been on it for several years for anxiety and other symptoms associated with perimenopause and have found it to work great.
Can anyone with a teenager on it chime in?
