Unfair Insane Methadone Clinic Detox (Page 2)

I have been a patient at compdrugs methadone clinic for 5 years. Never had dirty urines. I got 1 dirty 20 days ago and they took my dose from 185mg to 100 to nothing. 3 days. Is this legal and do I have a chance of fighting it. The doc. Dr. Alvin Pelt. is god at the clinic. Any ideas on what I can do would be welcome. Hopefully i can figure somethisg out b4 I blow my head off. Anyone out there whos gone thru a methadone withdrawal understands. Thanks all.

ADVOCATE-ADVOCATE-ADVOCATE- But carefully and effectively. If you feel your rights are being trampled by your clinicians, advocate first to your counselor then up the ladder. If you do so without verbally or physically threatening any of them, they cannot do anything punitive. If they DO anything punitive you have grounds for suit, but, since that is unlikely to happen, keep reporting up the ladder and KEEP RECORDS CAREFULLY- DATE, INCIDENT, REPORT, RESPONSE, NEXT REPORT AD NAUSEUM. If you cannot keep your temper (which will get you screwed every time) then get help from another patient or from the county Monitor but state your case clearly. The mechanics of all this are often impossible. This is the reason I am trying to get funding as the citywide advocate for Drug Assisted Recovery Patients, who have special needs and a special set of hurdles they must jump.

If anyone has any ideas as to where I might get a seed money grant for such a position please let me know below.

I am sure you signed papers when you started your maintanence program and you will have no recourse. You will not die from withdrawls even tho you will want to. They have no obligation to help you since you tested dirty. I think its funny when people screw up and want to blame someone else, or try to get them in trouble for your mistake.

You should always read all the papers you sign when starting a program like this. They always state they can call you in at anytime for drug testing and to see if you get take home, if you have what you should. They reason is people take advantage and take all the meds at once or sell it. Look for another clinic and READ what you sign and understand it.yex

It is not dangerous to your health. You will feel like s*** and wish you were dead but you will not die. Your drug addiction is dangerous to your health. You cannot die from withdrawling from methadone,. only alcohol.

Hey all, i have been on Methadone since 1963 ..Dole and Nyswinger NYC/ Beth Israel Hosp. and still on it in Tucson AZ.
Same happened to me in 1987 in county jail. I went the News Paper they came to the Jail did a story in a Parade Issue of the Sunday paper and the clinic folded and reinstated me.....The squeeky Wheel gets the grease.Call everyone...scream it from the roof tops... The Feds and State both oversee the clinic, go to the directors of the entities directly over your clinic the umbrella agencied, Not that it will do much good bit file a complaint with the ACLU.. least they will know you are serious .Call Lawyers/ find one that will take pro bono, there are plenty of left wing liberals around, you know the gray haired balding on top, poney tailed, yellow fingernailed type. get out, scream it from the roof tops

HEY BUD, i got on methadone before you were born, and have been on it , most likely , for more years then you have been alive!! i got on in Beth Israel Hospital and then sent to the Skillman Institute in Trenton NJ. I was built up to 550 milligrams of methadone and 400 milligrams of vikidan for a period of 13 months then released to a Newark clinic. Who the p[-[-[-[- are you to say what the DOCTORS did then, or should have done then?. whatever they did in the sequence they did it, it worked. Back then a very diligent and eunterpuneuring criminal perusing my little glassine envelopes, now a methadone client with a business and driving a German Luxury Car, and by the way, sonny! I have been clean no dirty UI for 40 years!!.

You & others that post here! know nothing!. On methadone for 5 years, 10 years and you think you know something about something!. The context of what i read ,it sounds as if you consider your self a expert because someone let you on a methadone program. The way i see it Not even the so called Doctors or Addiction Experts know Sh&&,All they have done is ask people like you for your opinions, they collected them formed a opinion and now they are deemed experts somewhere in some book, that some schmuck Imagine most of you here are drug addicts and criminals, such as i, however you are all talking like you are Brad Street Lawyers. You are on Methadone for 5 years and your a expert!.

Some of you think oxytocin is a drug worth taking well it is made from the same ingredients of perkaset and Percodan, two drugs i used to throw away if i found or got in a doctors bag. Here is one for ya, Cigarettes are more addictive then heroin today, that is what the experts say. After smoking lucky strike for 45 years, i put the half full pack on the mantle, where it remains today, no patch no hypnotism, no con from Doctors, no spending hundreds of dollars to stop. It is all a money scheme to bilk you to bilk Johnnies mommy out of her insurance money to put little Johnny in Rehab. To make you think you are addicted to something you can not help.
You may ask why am I still on Meth? After 50 years hundreds of stiches, plastic surgery , broken legs, ankle, pheamer, hip, arm, elbow and hand I could not exist without Methadone. If it were not for the pain relief I could/ with help get off, but would have no problem staying off considering there is no pain.

Funny thin on a positive urine screen.
I've been on methadone for 6 1/2 years.
Couple years ago when I put in a request for extra take homes for a vacation. You see, me and my roommate were FLYING to Las Vegas for 13 days. At the time I only received 6 take homes at a time so I needed 7 additional. I was quickly approved for the extra take homes as I comply with all the rules at the clinic.
Here is the punch line--- when I returned from Las Vegas and went to the clinic the following day upon returning from Vegas. I went to the medication window and gave my i.d. number. The nurse promply said I would only receive that days dose in person, she said I had a dirty urine screen. She would not listen to anything i said. Until another nurse, I remember his name Doug, stepped from the next window and asked me wasnt I out of town on vacation and I said yes.
There had been a urine screen on urine that was NOT mine and could NOT have been mine, as the test results stated the urine was obtained from me in the middle of my vacation. FUNNY , I was over 2000. miles away in another city. No urine collected from me !
To this day I rub it in their faces every chance I get as they could never explain how the above happened.
If not for the other nurse taking the time to listen to me, I would have been blamed for something I did not do.

On another note, I've been over dosed 2 times at the clinic I goto. Once by twice my daily dose. I tried to tell the dosing nurse that the dosage was not right as I watched her put double in my immediate dose and double dosage in all my take home bottles. She then put the Kool Aid in each bottle, I asked again just as she got half way thru the bottles. She told me to shut up that she was right.
I took that days dose at the window which was a double dose. I left the window with 27 take homes which were doubled in dosage, ( I was on 27 take homes at that point in time)
I left the dose window and had a moment of weakness and thought to heck with it and started out the door. I turned around and went back inside. The head nurse which is at a local hospital now, she since left.
Anyway she saw me walking back in the building and asked Bob are you ok. I paused then told her no.
I told her my concern that the nurse double medicated me. She had me come back to the window I dosed at and she and the nurse that dosed me did a inventory of the windows methadone supply. A funny look came on her face ( the head nurse) she asked me for all my take homes back, They made up a new batch of 27.
By the time I got home there were over 7 or so calls from the clinic on my answering machine wanting to make sure I made it home as I was driving alone.
SO WHEN YOU DECIDE TO SLAM SOMEONE FOR A SUPPOSED DIRTY URINE SCREEN MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IT WAS A CORRECT SCREEN. NOT A FALSE POSITIVE.
There are many more times that such has happened at the clinic I attend. I have no doubt the same crap happens at other clinics.
I have had a false positive for marijuana before, then the same urine was tested again with negative results.
I have never , I repeat never use marijuana in my life.
I requested, insisted a retest on the urine in question as I know I did nothing wrong. Like I stated, it was nagative the second time around, same urine !

Joejokester, whomever he is, is a pretender who should be banned from ANY discussion in re methadone.

In CA where I have been on for 30 yrs during which I picked up an AA in molecular biology and almost a BS in Chem (I was in my late 40s). As to the rest of the replies: methadone is NOT a terrible drug. It is a lifesaving and humane treatment for a usually intractable condition. HOWEVER: Some methadone PROVIDERS are straight from Hell.

Unless there was some violence this is above and totally beyond anything humane and is dangerous to your life and health. Refer to lilgirllost post. Her recommendation I will reprint here:

Granted, Oh Great Joejoker I have only been on for 30 yrs THIS time. I too was on at Beth Israel. AT the beginning. Met with Vincent P. Dole SEVERAL times and greeted him in San Francisco on his 90th birthday since he and his life-partner Marie Nyswander have always been heroes to me: risked their licenses many times AS HUMANITARIANS to help me and even abusive jerks.

You're right. I know NOTHING. Just an AA in molecular Biology/Biochemistry in my 40s plus master-level courses in Medicinal Chemistry, etc. I followed the discoveries of mu, kappa, etc receptors as well as all the Cyt p-450 breakdown proteins. Your knowledge is as limited as your empathy, both of which seem to be driven by an overarching need for your sick ego to be stroked. So congratulations on the German car. I hope it makes up for all the terrible personality problems. good LORD you are abrasive. I'd hate to be your dog, hod, or mate, as you are probably as abusive, little man. Is there room for terrible attitudes like yours? Not in MY world nor in theirs. You are no expert- your knowledge is more limited than mine which could stand some beefing up too. Where do you get off? You pound your chest like the Great Apes.

I fail to see the difference between Methadone and this "miracle" drug, Suboxone. I am on Methadone...I have tried taking Vikes to no effect - just like Sub. It saved my life - like Sub. It took away every single craving I had - like Sub. I am being weaned off of it, at my own pace - like Sub. So tell me again, cuz I am not getting it...how is Suboxone superior to Methadone? IF you are on a maintenance dose of Sub, and you suddenly STOP...you will go into severe withdrawal, just like Methadone. Hmmm...they sound exactly alike, except that Methadone is tons cheaper! It is up to the individual to stay on, or wean themselves down to zero, for either drug. So again, not sure what your point is.

Kim: Wow...are you ever wrong. People most certainly do die from sudden withdrawal, especially if they have other health issues. And, addiction is not a disease, it is a symptom of depression or other issues. Or, people get addicted due to massive pain. In that case, addiction is an acceptable course of treatment, as it allows people who would be unable to do anyting at all, and have no quality of life, get on with what they can! Opiods/methadone can be beneficial; it's all in how they are used. One person's poison is another person's godsend. Please don't make uninfomed, blanket pronouncements like that. You do no one any good, you are wrong, and you are hurtful.

Addiction to opioids IS a primary disease- it's a disordering of the relation between ligand and receptors in one of the main pain and reaction systems in our body and mind: the entire nervous system: autonomic AND voluntary. If that isn't primary disease I don't know what is.

It might START, as mine did, as a symptom of depression but after years it becomes a problem of its own

Not high but happy...i dont know what treatment plan you are in but addiction is most certainly a disease...google it...and you will not die from withdrawl except from alcohol or benzos..and I did not know this was an forum for people to argue and fight, i thought it was to offer advice for other people ..you seem to be very defensive to everything said on here

JOJOEKSTER: oxytocin is a hormone that has to do with glycolysis or sugar Metabolism. You say other know nothing? You know nothing. If you think oxytocin is oxycontin (which is oxycodone hcl but 80 mgs is the same dose as 16 percs) you are so busy demonstrating how "right" you are that you make an ass out of yourself. You are, in short, sadly mistaken.

You're the only one that can do that. All my years of addiction followed by methadone treatment all tell me much more than your time in program as you have had your eyes closed along with your mind. For godsake take some basic science courses. And stop being Mr. Know-it-all long enough to learn something. All the bvlusterting about how much you know is the surest sign that a LITTLE knowledge is a dangerous thing; that's what you have: a LITTLE. I've been studying all the science courses relating to addiction, in the science departments of accredited colleges on TOP of my lifelong addiction and treatment with methadone. I am in my 60s and rarely lose patience except when dealing with an a***h*l*.

PLEASE GET IN YOUR LUXURY GERMAN CAR AND GO AWAY.

You think you know something? You'd do well to listen. Many people here, with their mistaken facts, are still more knowledgeable than you as your mind id CLOSED. Get a grip. Dr pelt is a stupid sexist racist prick who gets off on administatively detoxing people off methadone he really enjoys seeing people suffer I coulf go on all day about him and his overpriced methaone clinic but im not gonna give him the satisfaction im so glad I found the Maryhaven methadone clinic.and that his candy A** no matter how baf he wants to cant keep me off of it lmao pelt f*** you tellin me to go do 6 months in rehab it aint gonna happen bastard and there aint a thang u can do about it I lovr the treatment I get at Maryhaven its not overcrowded and ya cant buy your way in there unlike Compdrug!!
