Tris Hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10/325
UpdatedI’m SUPER conserned because my pharmacy has switched from the yellow Qualitest Norco to 2 different brands I must choose from: Tris Pharma & Lupin Pharma. They are 10/325 Norco. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, fibromyalgia, back surgeries in past and I’m told in future. I can’t stand the idea of being in pain all month. Any advise on which brand to get? I have been given the white Watson brand and the other white ones that say M367 (I think it’s a 7 at the end) they were 10/325 non the less. The Watson brand was ok but the M367 was like taking nothing sometimes. Please help me decide. Those are the only brands I can find. I am so afraid I’ll be in pain all month like I was with the M367 and Watson brands.
The only way to really find out is by trying one and seeing how it works for you, since we are all different. Has anyone tried either one of these, and if so can you share your experiences?
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. (Hydrocodone 49349-994)
I agree the Qualifest is the best and the Watson is ok. The Lupin is the WORST!!! I had my last two prescriptions filled at "CVS" and I mean my last. The Lupin is not coated, (makes it hard to swallow) starts dissolving in the mouth before going down the throat and does NOT last as long, breaks down in the bottle into pieces. Lupin is clearly a low quality medication.
Re: Monty (# 2)
I agree!!! The qualitest worked much better for me and now CVS has given me the white Lupin Pharma 10-325's and they at NOT effective at all!!! Will be asking for "name brand" next round if there is a next round with CVS.
Re: Monty (# 2)
Thank you! I tried the Tris brand and it’s like taking nothing. This is terrible. I get all my prescriptions at CVS and I’m so disappointed in them for carrying such horrible quality medication. It’s so strange what’s going on with this medicine. I’ve been suffering all month. It’s absolutely terrible. There is no way it’s a placebo thing. Too many people are complaining online and at the doctors' offices. I would love to have this tested to see just how much of the active ingredient is in them. I know about the FDA allowing up to a certain amount of difference but, I’d bet there’s hardly any active ingredient in these Triss or the Lupin. And actually there is a way to find out if one works...that is why I came on here asking. People know what helps and they don’t want to be in pain. So if it were just in people’s heads that a certain brand works more than another then it must be people that don’t have pain and want to feel high. I know if my pain is really there or not and I was looking at the new brand positive with hopes it would be just as effective. It’s all I can do to even function in this kind of pain. I said the Watson brand didn’t work as good, but these are WAY worse. It’s exhausting! I feel so bad for all the people suffering right now due to their medication not being what they were prescribed & are paying a lot of $ for it to be. There is absolutely no excuse for it. Thank you Monty for caring enough to write back & actually caring. But an answer like Verwon gave is really a waste of his and everyone else’s time. Well obviously I have to try one. I wanted advice from people who actually have tried one or both of the brands. People in pain don’t need BS “advice” like that.
Re: Stump (# 3)
I would ask for name brand but I can’t imagine how expensive that must be. It’s absolutely pathetic. I’m so sorry you are having to suffer! And at this time of year it even makes it worse. Thank you Monty. Many Blessings to you. I pray it will get better. :)
Yes lupin norco 10/325 is a low quality product. I also have my scripts filled at cvs and they used to give the qualitest brand before this last refill. There is clearly a difference in quality of pain relief with the lupin brand compared to qualitest. Lupin gives minimal if any relief of pain along with with mild nausea for me anyway. I have herniated disk at l4-l5. I spoke with the pharmacist and also my doctor as to if I could return the pills for a different manufacturer. They both stated there was nothing they could do. Anyway lupin is Subpar manufacturer atleast for this product. Maybe their other products are of higher quality. The government makes it very difficult to receive pain relief now a days even for a shorter term (hopefully) issue.
My wife went through a month of misery after CVS changed from QUALITEST to LUPIN for her hydrocodone 7.5/325. She has pretty bad arthritis. Once I researched lupin's FDA sanctions I pretty much went off on CVS. The next week they swapped out her blood pressure meds for LUPIN. I refused that batch without hesitation.
Lupin is shipping chalk pills if you ask us. Don't touch it.
For me, Lupin's a yes. I guess I am the only one here thus far that Lupin works well for. I have been a pain patient for many years, and have had many of the brands aforementioned. Lupin works as well for me as any have. The only ones that didn't help me were the white Watsons. I guess everyone's chemical makeup is a little different, as for how we respond to medicine brands, but I am fine with mine.
I am having the same problem. Everyone is different, but when one works for you & another doesn't, our bodies know!! Here is Watson's #: 862-261-7000! Good luck!
So I called Watson pharmaceutical this am, 1/8/18. Watson is not making generic hydros 10/325-APAP, Teva pharmacutical is taking over their generics, for this medication! Call Teva & get the NDC # for medication you are on or call the manufacturer of your current med, then call pharmacies with NDC #. You can get a NDC # for any medication you may be on! Hope this helps! I can't take yellow (allergic to dye) Norco, can't take Percocet, been on Watson's med for years, low dosage! I have all 3 arthritis', fibromyalgia, ddd, carpal tunnel, 2004 c-spine fusion, keep a headache everyday, bone to bone in lumbar, (1 disc completely gone), had inj's. in my spine & blacked out in the doctor's office, so he refused to give anymore epiderals, which is a band-aid anyway, only lasted 2 weeks! I will not take anything morphine based!! So I am limited as to what I can take!!! Good luck! I am contacting my state rep, governor & senator about all of this!! It's not right that our quality of life is in jeopardy because others abuse & od on street drugs!! Our meds are a necessity for our lives to be productive & to pursue our dreams!!! Thx!
Re: Monty (# 2)
Lupin is no good had the yellow ones now Lupin a month in pain
Re: Plumbo (# 8)
Same with me... these work fine. Not sure why that last guy said it was chalk. lol its still norco, just different brand. I've been on pain meds for years and these seem to work fine.
Re: Monty (# 2)
YES LUPIN IS THE WORSE!! DOES NOTHING FOR PAIN AND DOC WONT CHANGE IT FOR DIFF ONE NOW IN MAJOR PAIN.
Re: Rick (# 6)
The FDA, allows up to 20% difference in fillers, for all meds! This is a high percentage! My former roommate was in pharmacuticals, she left the industry, because if all the politics!! Seriously! I learned alot from her!! I also took BOT medical in college, however, I am not a professional! Always consult your doctor, before taking, changing any meds or otc products! This post is for information purposes only! Do your own research. Everyone is different!!!
Re: Lynn (# 10)
I know! There is something going on. And listen to this...my CVS is refusing to fill my pain medication now! All because people have asked which generic or requested their old brand they had been getting for years. They say that’s a “red flag” of some sort?? I have no clue what that even means! It’s so strange. It’s no different than getting the pizza you want from the restaurant that has better pizza or buying Tylenol generic at one place because you notice it doesn’t work...so you go somewhere else to buy their generic because that place’s generic works! So now I have to call my insurance because they will only let me get medication filled at 1 place - THAT CVS. And guess why this is? All because I went to 1 and I repeat ONE other pharmacy ONE time to get my Tegrotl for my Trigeminal Neuralgia. They need to be able to “monitor my meds” so I’m in a “Lock-in program” with my insurance. Can only go 1 place for 2 Years! So now I have to call and see if there is anything they can do to get me “locked down” to a different pharmacy. I swear it’s so cruel. If you have pain and actually take your medication the way it’s prescribed- YOU GET PUNISHED. You are trash. I wish all those judgemental people could feel for just 2 min the pain I live in. That pain would probably just about kill them! I wish so bad I could do things other people do like go running or even bend over! Some days I can’t even bend over. The only thing that helps just so happens to be a “narcotic”. So if I have to take 1 pain medication that makes it so I can get out of the bed and get my daughter ready for school and function...what is the harm. Every other med is addictive too! Withdrawal and everything if you come off. I mean with a lot of those alternative pain meds you have to go get your liver checked. As long as you don’t abuse Norco and don’t take a bunch of extra Tylenol...You don’t need your liver checked every month! So what is the darn harm? Ok, some people will misuse - then let them be responsible for that! They are provided info and warned, they are grown adults. If they are gonna go out and be dumb and OD or whatever. That’s their own ADULT fault. They are adults...they misuse- then oh well!
I’m not one to believe in conspiracies, but this is the weirdest thing going on. Something is up. And yes I’m sure a lot of it is because docs are being basically interrogated over this stuff. But why? Why are docs catching hell? So many people are dying from turning to street drugs. Well wonder why? DUH!...they can’t get help for pain. I mean sure, a lot are just being dumber than mud; but people have been doing that for that for many years! Now, all of a sudden I see a man I knew -dead, leaving behind a beautiful wife and kids? This guy used to have it so together. Yes, he took pain meds for his back & the surgeries - because it’s all that helped. This man is dead all because his doctors left and new nurse practitioners took over and suddenly wouldn’t give him his pain meds. He could no longer work, function, play with his kids. His Pain was so bad he turned to something-anything to get relief. Now his kids are crying for their daddy. Left behind a devastated family. People that are in that much pain - enough that they seek medical attention and get on pain medication...then most of the time- they need it! And if left in that much pain with no way to get help but the street...people will go to the street! It’s terrifying. It’s so horrible. If someone shows no signs of abusing their medicine, they are lucid and never ask for it early & it’s obviously keeping them as productive as they possibly can be, with their pain disorders - my God (and I mean God like seriously we need his help!) Why take that away? People need to get together and speak out about this. Kinda hard to get together & do that in pain - but somehow we all need to. Thank you all for your advice. :)
I agree! Been contacting alot of ppl! State rep, govenor, senator next President Trump!! Seriously!
Re: Lynn (# 10)
Watson was sold out to Actavis. I was getting my Hydro from Walgreens and the pill said Watson but the manufacturer was Actavis. Walgreens I noticed the last prescription I got filled they changed manufacturers again. Now they have Amneal and they are lousy. All your pharmacies are going with the cheaper manufacturers and we have to suffer because they are using less ingredients. It's not fair but this is what it has come to.
Call around to drug stores and ask questions that have a yes or no answer to find the manufacturer you want and let your current pharmacy know that you are firing them as they work for you... If more people would get out of the mindset that they need a specific pharmacy, then the pharmacy might get what the customer wants... Always check your scripts before paying and if they are junk meds tell them so and then if need be pull up medschat and show them.
Re: Roro (# 18)
You cant get what one u want, I asked CVS. They get what they delivered to them. They have no control over what brand they get...I asked for a certain one and they cant. We can just request a certain brand...
I’ve been on generic norco 5/325 since 2011. My pharmacy switched me to this Lupin brand last month. They make me feel off & make my stomach hurt. I’ve asked my pharmacy to please use Qualitest instead and they’ve assured me they will when I refill them. I don’t use CVS or Walgreens or any retail chain for that matter. I go to a mom and pop pharmacy and I find them to be more customer friendly and nonjudgmental. I have called around in the past to Walgreens, CVS, etc., trying to ask what brands they carry and they treated me like an addict who setting up to rob them. It’s really upsetting that we as patients get judged for trying to manage our pain.

Please everyone file complaints w the FDA in these new norco they changed then and they no longer work tris. It is sickening I saved a few pills from prior month and its night and day difference. PLEASE file complaint w FDA y need to call your pharamcy and ask them for the ndc and expiration date on bottle first and if they say they dint have your bottle tell them to give u the current bottle. Something weird is going in because I made a complaint w tris directly too and they lied saying they did not change anything. Now unless they r up to no good why would they lie about it?this has ruined my life I cant work anymore w no pain relief . Evil evil evil. Please tell everyone to make complaints w tris and w the FDA. It's the only way they may be investigated.
I have gone to Walgreens for years to get my pain meds. After discontinuing Watson for a few months they finally brought it back only to discontinue again and now they carry Triss brand. You want to see how awful that is, look up the letter the FDA just wrote to them a couple months ago. They're about to go out of business because there's no medication in their medication. Anyway, I can't take anything other than Watson or name brand Norco (which is super expensive). So I decided to call around to see if anyone still carries Watson or could order it. I don't know when they started this but you can now no longer even call and ask pharmacies what brand of generic they carry. You have to come into the store, show them your prescription and THEN they tell you no. I drove to at least 10 pharmacies today and not one carrying it anymore. An indie pharmacy (who are able to order anything) told me it's not even on a list as available to buy. I'm so tired of this! I cannot function without pain meds. I have a hard time functioning when I do have them between my herniated discs, neuropathy in both legs and feet, lupus, carpal tunnel, arthritis and messed up sciatic nerves. Now I can't even find them. When I went to Google to read Triss reviews the only thing that came up was articles on how pain meds will kill you and how to quit taking pain meds. Ugh. I've never abused my pain meds. I generally take less than my prescribed amount. But without them I wouldn't be able to work. So frustrating! I guess I'm back to spending a fortune on Norco.
I'm in pain. Management have been 8 years I have stenosis I've took every pain meds available but my pain has always been intermitten days I only needed one or two others you might need 4 the ones didn't take I put up for a bad day cause honestly I hate having too take pills well pain management found old prescription in my urine now they are punishing me only giving me half of what I need with age Mr stenosis is worse I give up man darned if you do darned if you don't awful how real pain people are suffering what the docs done prescribing to people who don't need it damn I give up.
Re: Bettynaily (# 28)
I actually telephoned Abbvie, in February 2018, the division of Abbott that produces pharmaceuticals in Chicago. The FDA site and my pharmacist both indicated that the Vicodin Name brand (said VICODIN ES or Vicodin HP on each tablet) had been discontinued. I asked if there were a substitute now being manufactured since that formulation had been prescribed for me for many years with no increase or side effects and the quality control seemed superior with no dyes or variations on reported checks. I have allergies to certain dyes and additives and am very careful.. I was told that there was no replacement being made and that many generics had been too competitive. I merely talked to customer service, I had called about 2 years prior regarding if it interacted with any thyroid med etc. That pharmaceutical corporation is exceptional in consumer relations. There was a reformulation in 2014 publicly made known. It merely lowered the amount of Tylenol (acetaminophen in it) by at least 50% since overdose of Tylenol can damage liver tissue. The active ingredient (hydrocodone) remained the same. It now says "discontinued" on the fda.gov website. My privately owned pharmacy didn't tell me until December 2017 that it had been discontinued but had been available for a few more months after it was discontinued in the fall from its supplier. I assume it was sold until the current supply was gone with none being made any longer. If you need to pay $300 even with insurance, perhaps they are surcharging for the last batch. The telephone number for ABBVIE/ABBOTT is online. I am only aware of other companies providing the same chemical compound in generic form. Some posts refer to them as" Brand" with a company name but it is a generic made by that company. If you know that the Abbvie company is making an exact substitute, please post that. Their quality control is superior for all medications in reports. One can view any recalled medications over the years on the FDA site, Thank you.
Re: Karen (# 17)
You are absolutely correct in your post. I was a domestic violence victim with 5 surgeries and a titanium joint in my lower arm. It is inserted in either end into damaged nerves and "excised bone". I actually go to a "Pain Center" every 3 months and the physician electronically sends the prescriptions for three (3) months to my pharmacy. Nothing is changed or prescribed unless a patient goes to the actual physician. No one prescribes but the doctor. There are NO nurse practitioners, or physician assistants who are involved in the visit except for the U/A. They are professional and CAREFUL. I am certain that specialist would recognize any recreational abusers. Other patients I have seen there, have problems as described in this chat column and most are 50 years old plus. I have always used a private pharmacy for medications since they deliver. The pain center does a U/A each time there is an appointment. Every patient must submit. It is a shame that we who have pain and "damaged parts" or any other injury, congenital or otherwise are confused (how? I ask) erroneously with recreational abusers. I CONSIDER THAT AN INSULT. I have a limit of lifting 5 pounds with my lower left arm and "no repetitive movement" or the joint may loosen where exposed and inserted. Thank God it was my left arm (totally unexpected assault at age 53). I do resent not being able to play the piano for long periods of time........which is one of my great loves. My physician is a doctor of anesthesia at a specific pain center. Abbvie discontinued their "generic Vicodin" which was specifically prescribed for many years.
My injury occurred in 2001 and I was an in-patient several times for that injury. YOU ARE CORRECT! There is a definite difference how our bodies absorb anything made by different manufacturers. It is the inactive ingredients and not the active. I am allergic to penicillin and to vancomycin (reaction of raised rashes in a hospital setting). After being prescribed the Abbvie manufactured medication (Abbott) for many years, I was dispensed an equivalent of one by Boca that made me violently ill, headache, nausea, and urethritis. (First time in my life). In 17 surgeries, I have never become ill from anesthesia or any pain medication as an in-patient or out-patient. My pharmacist dispensed Tris next. That pharmaceutical, for my body, comes closest in pain relief with no lethargy or side effects, just like the Abbvie. It does not last as long but dissolves properly. Tris is thin like an extra strength Tylenol tablet, but must not have any ingredients that make me ill. However during this sub zero winter, there were days I merely had partial pain relief and literally did next to nothing. NIGHTMARE: Actavis made me deathly ill, having little if any, pain relief. If there were any pain relief it was surpassed by headaches and feeling nasty flu-like symptoms with incredible nausea. I finally realized it was the medication. I had ovarian cancer prior to my injury and was told by my gynecologic oncologic surgeon that I have a high pain threshold when after having an epidural in my spine prescribed for 24 hours, neither the nighttime pharmacy technician, nor oncologic surgery nurse knew how to program the computer in the middle of the night when the next 8 hours of med was to be attached to the system.
I rejected a hand pump that was to be pressed all night? Ridiculous?......... This was about 1 am after 8 hours of surgery and the recovery room took 13 hours to get to my room. I was given oral medication, a step lower for post surgery of that severity (a laparotomy with removal of all female organs and removal of innumerable lymph nodes). How imperfect pain management is, even at a university teaching hospital. (hospitalized twice the second for 6 nights and 7 days). I am typing this because medicine and pharmaceuticals are NOT perfect. That was a controlled surgery. This damaged arm pain is everlasting. As I age it has become more arthritic. The pain center physician even ordered an x-ray after having the records from my 5 surgeries, therapies and electromyographies and photographs from the ER (taken by an ambulance). I do not want to take anything stronger, but it is my experience that different manufacturers are not absorbed the same into each person's body. Our genetic codes are different. We do not all have the same genetic codes. Therefore we do not all have the same body chemistry. That would be assuming we were all clones, same height, eye color etc, (simplistically). I read the fda.gov site for the names of all companies which manufactured the medication (generic chemical compound as described). Yes the active ingredients are the same.......... NO! the inactive ingredients differ, and even up to 20%, government approved. I learned that the "inactive" ingredients may differ by as much as 20% by reading and checking with the FDA site.
People have sensitivities to dyes, and to other inactive ingredients. The FDA site indicates Actavis "VOLUNTARILY" (without being required), recalled some medications. Obviously, the Abbott/Abbvie pharmaceutical medication was perfectly quality controlled. Each batch when analyzed was uniform. I have read and learned by reading that generic batches, when analyzed vary and have a mean allowance for variation before being rejected. Also, all generics with the same active ingredients (generic compound name) do NOT have the same inactive ingredients or same amount of inactive ingredients. That appears to be significant in how each person's body absorbs the active ingredients. I do not know if the active ingredient can be lower but I did read a recall on the FDA site by a company recalling medication that was too strong. I hope that helps. This entire medical climate that endeavors to relate a patient suffering from chronic disabling pain in any way, shape or form......... to a recreational abuser should be DECLARED ILLEGAL! Shame on anyone in the medical community who would do that ........Like a person above posted.....those persons should experience disabling pain for 24 -48 hours before making decisions that affect the quality of another human being's life. This may sound ridiculous but.....years ago my veterinarian told me that my dog after knee surgery had a lower pain threshold than a human. How would he know, I politely asked. He was neither a neurologist for animals nor people. I returned with her crying. Whatever happened to the word "human" in humane?

Re: Stump (# 3)
what is the name brand for norco10?... People who have cronic pain are being swept with the opioid epidemic. They need to come up with a solution for people who need to take this pill for better quality of life. The people like us in pain take it responsably need it to live better not die
Re: Bettynaily (# 21)
Totally agree! I am very sensitive to meds and the change to Lupin as started them up again and does not cover pain well either. CVS says they have no choice. You would think after all of the complaints they could for something.
Re: Monty (# 2)
Totally agree! Having the same problem with Lupin and CVS.
Re: Maddie (# 4)
