Triamterene Hctz 37 5 25 Mg
UpdatedI went to refill my prescription and for the first time in 12 years it is "not available". I have been switched but is this shortage mean its been discontinued? I do not seem to be doing as well with the replacement (retaining fluid more) and want my old medicine back!

It has not been discontinued, at this time, according to the reports that are listed by the FDA, but that could change. The manufacturers have had a shortage of the Triamterene, but they haven't given any explanation as to why and most reported that it would be back on the market in April and May, which has clearly not happened, yet.

What medication were you switched to?
I was switched to hydrochlorot 25 mg...pharmacy told me yesterday they are getting no info except still unavailable. Thanks
Then the problem may be that you were just switch to a straight Hydrochlorothiazide tablet, because your body was used to having the other medication, which also contained Triamterene.
If you stop taking these types of medications, abruptly, there can be some rebound effects, so you may experience more fluid retention and elevated blood pressure and heart rate, for awhile, as your body readjusts.
A medication that would be more like what you were taking, would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Are there any other questions?
Be wary of aldactazide--I was switched to it and got an alarming allergic reaction--enormous hives. It went away, but it wasn't fun while it lasted--about an hour.
I just tried to have my prescription filled on 6-18-11. After 3 days Walmart Pharmacy said they could no longer get capsules and switched me to tablets. These do not work the same and have unpleasant side effects the capsules do not.
What kind of side effects did you get from the tablets? and why do you say they do not work as well as the capsules? I am asking about Triamterene that is no longer available.
I took triamterene for the last 15 years with no obvious problems. Now I can't get it and was switched to Advor. I have a constant cough, whiziness, congestion, eyes are sensitive to light and can't wear the same contacts, and extreme muscle weakness in my legs and hip.

I took 1 tablet Thursday morning and it's put me in a bad way. Black stools not breathing right . Hot and chills. Headache that I still can't get rid of, and still feels like the flue 4 days later.
Wondering if side effects of Triamterene 37.5/HCTZ 25mg could be heartburn, and tinnitus? My pharmacy changed to a manufacturer called APOTEX. Prior to this oval green pill marked APO, I was taking a peanut-shaped tablet marked SZ 431 with no problems.
