Triamt Hctz 37 5 25mg

I have been taking lisonpril/hctz 20-25 mg, is it safe to switch to triamt/hctz 37.5-25 mg?

There is currently a shortage of Triamterene with Hydrochlorothiazide, so you may have trouble getting a prescription for it filled.

Has your doctor recommended making this change?

The difference between the two is the Lisinopril, which is a ACE inhibitor and the Triamterene, which is a potassium sparing diuretic.

They are both used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, but the Triamterene is often give to someone that requires diuretic therapy, but is too low in potassium.

The side effect profile is also similar for both and may include: nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and dehydration.
