Triam/htz. & Lisinopril

I have been taking this medication for over 12 years my doc has been wanting me off this medication say it cause kidney problems etc. wants me in lisinopril 10mg. I'm afraid of weight
Gain & other side effects. The last 6 months I have had some vertigo & migraine. They feel that triam/htz is causing this. Lisinopril seems to have same side effects. Very confused

Yes, Triam/HTZ is a combined diuretic, which works by removing fluid from the body, so it can be very taxing on the kidneys and they likely do need a break from it, after this many years.

However, the other side effects risks aren't really any different between it and the Lisinopril. Typical ones, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension.

The weight gain is usually also minimal, 10 pounds at most for some people, but much less, if any for most others that take it. I've been taking various blood pressure/cardiac medications for several years and none have caused me to have any weight gain, I'm still as tiny as I was, when I started taking them.

What other side effects did you feel were concerning? Perhaps those can be addressed to help you.
