I can appreciate the homework assignment here. I wasn't able to answer both your questions to the fullest extent, but hopefully this helps point you in the right direction.

Based on my research, the top three prescribed diuretics are as follows:

1). Furosemide (Lasix):
Class- Loop diuretic
Pharmacology- Inhibits reabsorption of sodium and chloride in proximal and distal tubules and loop of Henle.
Used for the treatment of two conditions- hypertension and edema.
Furosemide is contraindicated in patients with anuria or who are hypersensitive to the drug.
