Hi IETTY,

Depending on the dose, both of these medications could effectively handle the pain associated with a toothache.

Some people however prefer Naproxen over Ibuprofen because of certain side effects and that it may be easier on their stomach. Others find a few hundred mgs of Ibuprofen to be more than sufficient for a toothache. There are just many different reasons for choosing one over the other...

One patient review I found stated that 400mgs of Ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours was sufficient enough to take care of their toothache; although I haven't come across any specific details on Naproxen's equivalent dose for this same treatment.

I think it will simply come down to which medication you react best to. Have you tried either one in the past?

yes. i've placed a call for an appointment, it's the wait. but i've actually resorted to doing one of each alternation between 6-8 hours. but it's still there of course.
