Took A Drug Test At My Doctors For Suboxone And It Showed Negative - Please Help (Page 3) (Top voted first)

I had a drug test with my suboxone doctor the other day and he called and kicked me off the program because the suboxone did not show up on my drug test, but i have been taking suboxone for 3 years and cannot go without it and i took suboxone the morning of the drug test. How is it possible it would not show up?

Any info or advice PLEASE!!! I have been on Suboxone for 4 years. I can't get off it because I do need something to help with pain. Here's my problem: About a year ago my doctor started giving me mouth swab tests because the laws have changed here in the state of Tennessee where Suboxone could no longer be written for pain, only for opioid dependency, which I was cool with. My problem is the mouth swab test I take every month shows up negative now. My doctor believes me that I am taking it but my insurance is gonna start to give me a hassle thinking I am selling it (says my Dr). I am on three 8mg strips a day. Last month I took one 10 minutes before the test and it was still negative. The few medical problems that I do have that I don't know if they could affect this are gastric bypass and my lower jaw was rebuilt so I wear a bottom denture which is where the test goes. I'm not really sure how the body processes Suboxone but this is going to be a problem for me in the next few months. I took videos of me taking my Suboxone with the timestamp of a newspaper behind my f****** head with the day's date. Well, you know how insurance companies are. Anybody ever heard of anything like this?

I did some research on dip stick type testing of subs and found it to be highly unreliable. By drinking fluids and clearing the bladder a few times is enough to dilute the sample. I believe the long half life has something to do with it. It's slowly secreting metabolizes into urine rather than quickly. Slowly means smaller amounts. Add the ingested fluids clearing ones bladder a few times and metabolites are underectable.

Your first sub appt u want to be positive and can be for several things including benzos. This shows u have a problem and need the program. U only want to be positive for your script after that first appt. Be careful. They will keep your money and kick you out which is bulls***. Any place offering help but charging up to $250 a month cash only I believe is wrong these ppl care about money money money. Not whether u get better or not. Damn I wonder why ppl are still out there addicted and dying.. Cuz of you f***ing so called drs you should be ashamed of yourselves. I bet you would think different if it were your own child addicted or dead. You make me sick!!!!

I'm taking 8mg suboxone tablets under tongue twice a day an there trying say that is not showing on my drug screens I have no way to prove that I'm taking it but if I don't get to keep going not only will I b back on kinds of stuff but I'm going to lose my children over something I'm not doing I take it every day even offered to take in front of them so scared there gonna kick me out I wished they would figure what's going on w us its got to b our metabolism or something I don't no I'm no doctor someone please help

I have been on subutex & colazepam for years, along w some muscle relazers & other medications. My doc gives me random tests & I was unable to pee the last time I was in the office, so my next visit I made sure to drink lots of liquids & an additional 5 cups of water at the office, to make sure I would be able to pee. I also take a variety of herbal remedies. I wanted to make sure I could pee, so she didnt think I was trying to duck out of the test, I have nothing to hide & take my medicine religiously. Anyway, I took the test & was then called & told they didnt a more expansive test & she would no longer be able to prescribe for me bc the clonazepam came up negative. Idk if the subutex came out negative too, no one told me,bt Im guessing it didnt show either.This is insane & I have no idea why my meds arent showing. Im freaking out bc Im very ill & must hv my medicine to function at all. Even w my medication, I am at a 6-7 pain level, bt I can manage that. Ive done NOTHING wrong & am so stressed. Where I live, it is very difficult to find a doc & was so thankful to find her. I thought we had a good relationship & was the 1 area in my life I had some consistancy. She is very strict & so I doubt she'll even listen to me, bt I have a meeting w her tomorrow, to try to discuss this with her. Can you give me any advice on how to handle this or what may be going on?

Hi Scott,

Did you have any other medications, substances, or specific food with the suboxone that could interact with its absorption?

Also, do you notice how long it usually takes to kick in after you've taken it?

From an outside perspective, I can only imagine that if you took it with a full meal (high in fat or calories) that the pill may not have been digested and assimilated until hours after you took the pill. Fat can significantly slow down your metabolism in the presence of carbohydrates, so this is the first thing that comes to my mind in this situation, depending on what you ate or took with it.

Is it possible for you to get retested?
