Time Of Lexapro To Work

Hi all! I've been on Lexapro for 5 1/2 weeks (2.5 on 10 mg and 2.5 on 15mg) for generalized anxiety disorder. The first time I started taking Lexapro I took 10 mg and it worked fantastically, I then stopped taking it because I felt so great (rookie mistake). This time around I feel like it's doing a lot less to manage my anxiety. I'm certainly better than I was 5 1/2 weeks ago but not where I'd like to be. Should I give it more time or try taking something else? I'm not thrilled of the process that comes along with switching medications. Thanks in advance for the help!

If it's been over 5 weeks and it's not helping as much as it should, then that likely means you need to try something else.

The general rule is that it should reach its level of therapeutic efficacy in your body between 4 to 6 weeks.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.

Have things improved, at all?
