Synthroid 5 mg, when is the best time to take this pill? ## Synthroid contains the active ingredient Levothyroxine and for best effectiveness, it is usually supposed to be taken in the morning, one to 2 hours, before eating or drinking anything other than water. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and weight changes. Learn more: What instructions did your doctor or pharmacist provide? ## since it comes in micrograms, I suggest never...your hair will fall out and your mouth and lips will go numb! If you take it, take it with nothing, no calcium!!! Ask the Doctor to clarify the drug order!!! I as a nurse would and usually do when I see a goof up! ## My PCP has me back on synthroid (.05MG) from previously taking (.025MG). I have been off of it for about 4-5 months because...

I had been on Levoxyl 100mcg for at least 2 years and was doing great until the recall in April 2013. The only issue I had was I found it hard to sleep at night. Since the recall,I had to switch to Levothyroxine 112mcg and feel tired all the time, gained weight, and other unhappy symptoms. My levels are normal but I think I felt better on Levoxyl. My question is now that Levoxyl is back on the market would it be a mistake to be put back on it? Is it the same? I can't find any info or anyone who has gone back to Levoxyl. ## Hello, Candace! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Those are all normal side effects of Levothryoxine, but though it is the same thing, if you feel that the Levoxyl worked better for you, there's no harm in switching bac...

i am 22 yr old, before three years i was detected with pcod . since september 2008 i was put on krimson-35, since july 2010 i was put on thyronorm-25 one tablet in the morning and glycomet-250 two times a day once in afternoon and once at night , i am facing lots of side effects with these tablets ,so i wanted to know whether i can leave these tablets and switch over to ayurvedic safely or should carry with these tablets only and whether these tablets should be taken life long? ## Have you consulted your doctor about your concerns? What side effects are you experiencing? In reality, side effects should taper off, once your body gets used to a medication, so you shouldn't still be experiencing a lot of them, after such a long period of use. However, your medical condition itself could...

why would the endocrinologist change the dosage from 137 mg to 125 mg Synthroid ## Hi Ruth, Not to off-put your question, but you asked what a higher dose was, and 137 is obviously a higher number than 125, so i don't quite see what you're getting at with that? As to your other question regarding why the endocrinologist changed your dose, he/she certainly has a good reason for doing so and it's honestly anyone's guess until you ask the endocrinologist personally why they made that decision, for there are several possible reasons; including but not limited to: a judgement call based on your thyroid levels; lowering your risk of certain possible side effects; trying to slow-taper you off; etc.... but how would you really know until you asked them personally? You ask a simp...

Been on Levothyroxine 3 months at 50mg. My levels showed 35...is this high? I don't feel any better and often feel worse. Are the mood swings of sudden extreme anger and crying all a symptom of Hypothyroidism? The moods are so bad. I did try antidepressants but they made no difference and often made me feel worse. Now I have good days and bad days. Do I need an increase in Levothyroxine? ## More than likely you do need an increase in dose but only a Dr via TSH test can tell you for sure as taking more without a Dr prescription can lead to very serious health issues ## Thank you for your response. I returned to the doctors who said my levels had returned to normal after being on 50 mg of thyroid treatment for 3 months, Originally when I was diagnosed they were at 35. However I feel a...

I have bee taking Levothyroxin for years. Just recently, I had my prescription refilled. The pills look the same, but they dissolve immediately when I put one in my mouth. This is different. Never before had the pills started dissolving so quickly. I'm interested in finding out if some change has been made in these pills. Please let me know what's going on. Thank you. ## Hello, Donna! How are you? What are the markings on them? That is what would enable me to find such information on them. Are the markings the same as the other ones you were getting? Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid disorders and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, weight changes and hair loss.

these numbers seem to be very misleading. I am in bio-identcal thyroid supplement but even on synthroid the tsh was very high. doctors seem to be mystified and can't get appt. with endocrinologist for 3 months. ## Hi Kathy, Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm not completely familiar with thyroid readings, but if it's of any help, the normal values listed for 'T3' levels are said to be anywhere between 100 - 200 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL). And a typical range for 'T4' is said to be from 4.5 - 11.2 micrograms per deciliter (mcg/dL). Reference: 1). nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003687.htm 2). nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003517.htm Perhaps certain symptoms you may or may not have could also be looked at as an indication for determining ho...

I am a 20 year old female and I am severely underweight (37.5KG) and I have been this weight for the past four years. I have been underweight my whole life but I do not have any form of eating disorder. I have tried desperately to gain weight in many ways and failed. My doctor said I am healthy and 'naturally thin' and i have done blood tests and ruled out thyroid problems. Since I was a child i have been bullied for being too skinny and this has affected me to a great deal. Over the past 1 year I have developed an anxiety problem (symptoms: dizziness, vomiting, racing heart) where one of the main reasons i get anxious is because I fear getting called out on being too skinny. The anxiety is also caused by other fears and is under control with medication but my weight is still a pro

I am taking Levothyroxine 88 mcg for about 7 yrs., pravastatin 20 MG for about 5gabapenton 300 mg )now off that) since 2011, and more recently Clonzazeoam .5 mg (about 10 moths) and fluoxetine 10 mg for about 7 months. Could any of these be causing my brain not to function rights, depression runs in my family and it seems like I'm afraid of everything, especially driving new places and technology, which I used to be pretty good at. ## Hello, Ladymarine! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've been having. It could be due to the Pravastatin, Clonazepam, Fluoxetine, or a combination of all of them. There is also a chance that it mi...

I was put on a T3 compound of 15 micrograms twice a day and Synthroid. I ended up having about four to five incidents where I had severe stomache cramping and then violent vomiting and a month or two after starting the meds. I did ask my Dr. about it and he said he did not know what that would be from and ordered a food allergy test, which came back fine. I did not feel like the Dr. cared and I did not want to continue having those incidents so I stopped taking the meds. I have not had any of those incidents since but of course I am having all the super sucky symptoms that required the meds in the first place so now I am trying to figure out on my own how I can fix this. Has anyone else experienced this? If so how was it fixed? Why would this happen? Is this a side effect of the T3 or S...

i have been on synthroid and armour and now back on sythroid and cytomel. I have put on twenty pounds and have all the other symtpoms that come with hypo. despite doing medifast and working out. i spoke to my cardiologist the other day and he suggested if nothing is working maybe i never should have been put on it. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid due to my pregancy and losing a lot of weight quickly. my new endo said i probably had post-partum hypo and my other endo should have waited to see if it would have resolved on its own. i'm slowly weaning myself off and going to keep having doc take my levels every four weeks. I'm hoping i can feel like myself again after 10 years. ## Hi Heather, sorry to hear about your challenges with hypothyroidism. May I ask what your typical day t...

I have been taking Euthyrox, which is Levothyroxine sodium, a synthetic L-Thyroxine (T4), to treat my hypothyroid. Then I read about Thyroxine, which, according to one source, contains both triiodothyronine (T3 and T4), and the effects are not the same as taking T4 alone. But else where on the internet, L-Thyroxine is regarded as the same as Thyroxine, except that the former is more potent than the latter. Is that all the difference between the two?

Concerning your question about side effects, this is a risk factor with just about any type of prescription medication, including Glycomet (metformin). However, if you'd like to see an overview of all the possible symptoms, I'd suggest visiting the page below, (which seems to have one of the most complete list of side effects I've seen): ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045148/#DDIC601533.side_effects_section How has this medication been working for you thus far?
