Hi. The pharmacist gave my mom her refill on her zolpidem and she didn't really pay attention and thought it was a new prescription for sleeping since it was a peachy orange color. It has been giving her really bad nightmares ever since she has been taken it. The bottle says zolpidem but this has never done this to her before and she has always gotten a white pill (so have I). Do you think they messed up and gave her the wrong med? It just came to my attention tonight.

Hey there. So yeah Zolpidem is a generic drug and made by a ton of different companies, so the pills indeed are difrerent colors and/ or shapes depending on whos making it. From the way you describe this particular pill your mom is on, Im guessing its Torrent. And Torrent is crapola on a stick. It gives me intense nightmares as well. I always make the joke that most generic zolpidems just dont work (low potency) but Torrent, Torrent works, it just makes you cray-cray LOL Find a different brand. Im recommending Sandoz for now

Unfortunately pharmacy errors do occur. However in I believe it's a matter of a different generic formulation that contains a % differential or more commonly a sensitivity to its inactive ingredients.Binder and filling materials often cause a marked change in how a particular individual metabolizes said drug. Some of these "companies" are notorious for this.One in particular is torrent pharma. In going forward I'd highly recommend contacting your medical provider or pharmacy for further direction. I hope this helps clear up the issue of generic insufficiency for this drug.
