The Cvs Pain Police (Page 6) (Top voted first)
UpdatedCVS, a company involved in scandalous behavior in the past is now going to dictate policy on pain meds and prescribing. I urge all pain patients to contact your public officials to not allow this company to now play god with what is prescribed to you superseding your doctors orders and for many patients to file litigation against this company and the CDC or any other governmental agencies that allow these criminals to become your doctors and set the rules. This organization cannot be allowed to set the rules when it comes to your healthcare. They have again overstepped their authority and this latest fiasco shows how they have no regard to patients who need these medications for quality of life. Trying to take medication from people who need it is criminal. Just google this company and see how many times they have been involved in behavior, it's insane. This company should not enact any type of policy. I'm ashamed of the media who carry their messages and any politician in cohorts with this company should be booted out of office immediately. Again, I urge you to contact your officials about the pharmacies who attempt to tell you what, how many and when you can take your meds. Total insanity. " In a new effort to tackle the deadly opioid addiction crisis in the United States, pharmacy giant CVS announced Friday that it will limit opioid prescriptions to seven days for certain conditions. This restriction will apply to patients who are new to pain therapy. The new pharmacy program will also limit the daily dosage of pain pills based on their strength and will require use of immediate-release formulations before extended-release opioids -- intended for severe, long-term pain treatment -- are dispensed. The changes will roll out February 1 and cover all commercial, health plan, employer and Medicaid clients. Who the hell are you? You know nothing of me & sarcastically call me mom of the year. You misspoke what I wrote so what does that make you? I said that I tried it a couple of times & it did not work. I never said that I did it legally or illegally & why do you care anyway. You don't know my situation so please keep your mind in YOUR business. Thank you.
Re: Sam (# 101)
I write people all the time. Melania? No problem. Oh, you are 20 States away but are one of their opioid committees, surely you have a contact name in front of your name somewhere!
Re: Anne (# 108)
I can confirm. It can even be helpful on those weekends you've run out, in my experience--but I was a customer for years before all this.
I am in so much pain right now. I'm going to look at the barometer. That's definitely a thing!
I was hating on CVS somewhere here just last week because they couldn’t get their act together when it came to ordering Adderall, but in regards to this here, I use CVS for my pain meds and I get 28-30 days at a time and they have never hassled me. As a matter of fact, a few months ago the doctor messed up and accidentally gave me 10 a day instead of 10 extra a month for BTP and I didn’t catch it. The pharmacist called and corrected it without making me go back for a new paper script, which I expected since it had to be on paper already. I read articles about what you’re referring to though, and if I remember correctly this was more about their insurance (like Silverscript part D for Medicare) than the actual pharmacy. I could be wrong though. They have been in the news a lot, for years.
I just wanted to say that I filled stuff as recently as the day before Thanksgiving. No hassles.
Also wanted to say I use the CVS in Target because the stand alone store pharmacists are rude and always have been. About all prescriptions.
Re: Suzie (# 112)
I have heard all of the CVS pharmacy s are going out of business. There prices aren't good. I go to Shopko. Great service and price
You have someone else's name on my message

Re: Deborah (# 43)
Almost nobody can afford to take time off work, so live on opiates for years? I stated IF told to have surgery and refuse to have it, their meds should be taken away.
Most jobs you don't need to give a reason if you fail a drug panel, as long as a dr prescribed it. Bus drivers, teachers, truck drivers, your kid's coaches, the people working on your house, gas, electric and cable companies are all on opiates. Sure doesn't make me feel secure. They should be drug-free.
Re: SheriAmore (# 60)
I am allergic to NSAIDS (anti-inflammatories). The medical marijuana program allows me to use a CBD vape pen to help with my chronic inflammation. It is NOT a painkiller. It helps relax severe muscle spasms IF you purchase the correct strain. The pharmacists will gladly meet with you for free in a private room, to help you decide which route, dose and strain works best for YOUR condition.
Try a small privately owned pharmacy. You may have better luck with one of those. That's what I used and never had a problem.
Okay Everyone,
Not everyone knows but my friend works at the Corporate Office at CVS. (Located in Woonsocket, RI) I will copy a post and send it to her, and see what she has to say about your questions. Write out whatever you wish to know. The post with the most votes is the one I will send to her. The deadline is Monday morning.
Re: Kelly (# 27)
That is the biggest joke I have EVER heard. Most start addicted to opiate pain pills. They then get too expensive, so they turn to H.
They must have skipped that part.
Re: Deborah (# 43)
I believe BY LAW everyone must have Health Insurance due to Odumma.
Re: Gigi (# 77)
I go to a chain, and they know me by name. Maybe it's just the different parts of the country, city or town we all live in. It could also be if your a jerk they treat you like a jerk back. Let's face it, the way I have read people on here just talking to others on this thread, many of you are so rude. If I had to deal with your rudeness, in public, at my job, I would give it back to you by making you wait an extra day. And I would watch you flip out in all that pain you are in, and smile as the door hit your ass on the way out. It's like some of you throw a tantrum like a tot. That gets you no rewards or my time.

Besides it being inconvenient, what is the big deal to get your meds filled every week?
You really think the % of your opiates they sell or don't sell is going to bankrupt CVS? Haha! First you all were in a panic when your doctors dropped your doses or refused to continue to write for you. You scrambled and found a pain management doctor and thought you were good to go. Then the pharmacist decides to fill your pills when they are due? Following the law? It doesn't matter if your insurance says you can have it at 28 days, you get a 30 day supply!
Yes, many people need these opiates. But if you have a construction job, or any job, you shouldn't have these meds. They are for bedridden people, those who legally qualify for a handicapped plaque, who are unable to take care of themselves due to pain.
If a surgeon and a second opinion say you should have surgery, you should have to have to have the surgery, and be proactive in every way to reduce your pain. Being afraid or hearing horror stories are an excuse and you should have your meds taken away.
Not having surgery but being on opiates for 10 years is NOT why opiates were supposed to be used for. If you could possibly be in less pain or no pain vs. Opiates for 10 years, duh.
That is why all this is happening. How do they get on the streets? From so called legal people. They find out they can keep getting it from their doctors, so they sell all or half of their meds for the money.
And what really screwed everyone is Cash Only Pain Clinics on every corner in Florida. People would go from other states by the car loads and bring the opiates to their States. People would pay others $500 to go to 5 clinics a day. That's 6 oxy 80's on the street, great profits.
So I think there are a lot more people to blame than CVS.
Re: Deborah (# 4)
This was on the ballot when we voted, so this subject shouldn't be a surprise. You can contact whom ever you choose, but if this is happening in your state, the majority rules.
It will be a pain in the butt and very inconvenient, but I think it's a good idea. Nobody can take extra meds, be short at the end of the month or have people new to strong meds to OD.
The only thing I see wrong, is having someone picking up your meds if you are unable to.
