The Cvs Pain Police (Page 3)

Updated

CVS, a company involved in scandalous behavior in the past is now going to dictate policy on pain meds and prescribing. I urge all pain patients to contact your public officials to not allow this company to now play god with what is prescribed to you superseding your doctors orders and for many patients to file litigation against this company and the CDC or any other governmental agencies that allow these criminals to become your doctors and set the rules. This organization cannot be allowed to set the rules when it comes to your healthcare. They have again overstepped their authority and this latest fiasco shows how they have no regard to patients who need these medications for quality of life. Trying to take medication from people who need it is criminal. Just google this company and see how many times they have been involved in behavior, it's insane. This company should not enact any type of policy. I'm ashamed of the media who carry their messages and any politician in cohorts with this company should be booted out of office immediately. Again, I urge you to contact your officials about the pharmacies who attempt to tell you what, how many and when you can take your meds. Total insanity.

" In a new effort to tackle the deadly opioid addiction crisis in the United States, pharmacy giant CVS announced Friday that it will limit opioid prescriptions to seven days for certain conditions. This restriction will apply to patients who are new to pain therapy.

The new pharmacy program will also limit the daily dosage of pain pills based on their strength and will require use of immediate-release formulations before extended-release opioids -- intended for severe, long-term pain treatment -- are dispensed.

The changes will roll out February 1 and cover all commercial, health plan, employer and Medicaid clients. " [1]

I feel like what started as managed care is now health care socialism.

You are obviously IGNORANT of the Multi-Border Highway opened to the Sinaloa and Zeta Mexican Cartels- by corrupt DEA/FBI operatives, who get a mansion on a private Caribbean Island when they retire, as well as cash incentives. I know, I was in Law Enforcement, wore a bulletproof vest in public, and slept with a Sig Sauer .40, under my pillow for 20 years. That....Rikki....is the REAL problem in this Nation, so please, STOP sifting gnats and swallowing Camels.

Your words are very harsh. Not everyone has insurance, or the ability to take time off to have surgery. Some can't pay the co-insurance and deductibles. Maybe some can't have surgery because they aren't medically cleared for surgery.

Re: Deborah (# 43) Expand Referenced Message

I'm with you Deborah. Rikki doesn't get it, we are speaking of legitimate patients with documented medical issues, not the people who abuse the meds they are given. They the pharmacies, are putting patients into one group. Those who take pain meds have to be abusing them just as Rikki implied, every patient knows what I'm speaking of once they enter the pharmacy, you can see the looks when you're simply there to pick up the prescription. As for these insurance companies changing their policies now is the time to dump them and change to a more compassionate insurance company. Oh yes the illicit drug dealers are jumping with joy. If the insurance companies keep this up they will see an explosion of addicts and overdoses.

Tell me they are not some of the issues. They are some, not all.

Re: Deborah (# 43) Expand Referenced Message

Almost nobody can afford to take time off work, so live on opiates for years? I stated IF told to have surgery and refuse to have it, their meds should be taken away.

Most jobs you don't need to give a reason if you fail a drug panel, as long as a dr prescribed it. Bus drivers, teachers, truck drivers, your kid's coaches, the people working on your house, gas, electric and cable companies are all on opiates. Sure doesn't make me feel secure. They should be drug-free.

I live in CT, where senators are 100% ANTI-Narcotic. I cannot call them to even say there are a ton of us going through numerous surgeries and those in chronic pain who NEED to take opiates. I try to take the lowest dose possible, but I am also weaning off Gabapentin, as it crept up after 6 months, in a bad way (emotionally).

I just had 2 lumbar fusions with hardware, and now the levels above L-1-2 are "going" and causing my psoas muscle to be in constant spasms. The groin pain is killing me still. Bone spect shows # 2 not healing either.

I am being shipped off to pain management. I have already told them, "no more pills that are addictive since I am already on (3) - NO MORE SHOTS because making me feel worse for 3 weeks of relief is not worth it".

If I have to have another lumbar anything, I am changing neurosurgeons. I am sick of these pansy surgeons who cower down to CVS. Grown some balls already and stick up for the gutting you do to us, to get those artificial discs and cages in right. THANKS for repairing my "cerebrospinal fluid dural tear", after you sliced it "by mistake". NOT digging the FOOT DROP or the 5% rating you gave my floppy foot. Boycott CVS because they clearly do not get it.

CVS has notoriously denied filling my Rx on Day 28. Is THAT even legal?? Make up their OWN rules? And it seems to vary from pharmacist to pharmacist...some say Day 28 & some say Day 29! I'm like what is ONE day!!??

Re: SheriAmore (# 50) Expand Referenced Message

Yup happens all the time and at just about everywhere you go!! They make it soooooo hard to fill. I just filled in a Saturday last month it was a new pharmist of course. He said he'd fill the other two gabby's and valium but not the oxymorphone ER'S I said why he said he couldn't call and confirm the RX. I've been going there a year and a half mind you and they have the data base in place plus I'm in their computer like REALLY!!! I told him I'd be sick if I did not get my meds that day so he came from behind the counter walked me over to the sitting area and asked if I had the same Insurence and Doctor he said he'd have to fill out a lot of paperwork but he'll do it this time NO MORE FILLING ON WEEKENDS was told to me and writting on my script bag!!!
How's that???!!!

It's time to change your pharmacy. I know it's not an easy thing to do nowadays but try an independent drugstore, leave CVS like everyone is.

Re: RAWDOG (# 51) Expand Referenced Message

SO ridiculous. Looks like after "once again" arguing with CVS about fill dates, they're gonna fill it for me tomorrow...day 29. Like I should thank them!?? I've told several off them that pain is different from day to day & it's IN my records that my doctor wrote that I'm able to take an extra one here & there & a couple off months ago, the Doctors office assistant had to tell them that & pharmacist filled it then but said next time it has to say it ON the Rx. If there are ANY pharmacies that are not so strict we'll switch...but I have a feeling they're all once again AGAINST the pain patient.

This is a letter I just prepared to send to CVS Corporate office in Woonsocket, RI.

"This information came to light on rxchat.com and if it proves to be true, I will be one of your previous customers who will drive a little further if need be to avoid shopping at a CVS.

The article is about CVS becoming “pain police” and making it even harder than it already is for legitimate pain patients to get the medications they need: rxchat.com/328343

I believe it is beyond wrong to blame the medication for what people decide to do to themselves. It is just the same as blaming the gun for criminal activity of peoples or blaming the alcohol for the DUI arrest.

Those who are unwilling to accept life as it is and try to block it out with alcohol or other drugs, still manage to find what they want and until those with the power to set up programs realize this is a mental health and motivation issue, not a medication issue, no headway will be made against illegal use.

Please let the doctors do their job and keep your untrained noses out of where they don’t belong."

No I don't work, I am disabled. I have had 8 spinal surgeries, my first as a teenager. I have DDD, Spinal Stenosis, Facet Disease, cracked tailbone, cracked lower disk, failed back syndrome. I have done steroid epidurals, Facet blocks, pt, ultrasound, tens units, massage, OT, acupuncture. I have 5 holes in my stomach from acid, bleeding ulcers that blew out of my mouth and bottom, I have had 2 blockages from meds..now incisional hernias where my intestines pop out of the mesh, at one time the pain was so bad I would smell food and vomit. At 5'9" I went from 147lbs to 114lbs. My hair fell out, I couldn't even walk to the bathroom or hold a fork. Luckily that has passed. Shall I continue?

My affiliation to CVS is I use them as my pharmacy.

Re: Rikki (# 55) Expand Referenced Message

I got involved with this thread because I agree with most, that CVS is out of line. I do have medical insurance, I don't take opiates. Rikki, I know you mean well, but CVS is making policies that reflect socialism. The USA is a Republic with a free market. That means we can complain to CVS and take our business elsewhere.

RIGHT?? Yet ALL the alcohol & marijuana & street drugs are out there for all of these other people to TAKE AS MUCH AS THEY WANT. But the government wants to mandate how I deal with my pain!!?? I'm telling you after 35 years, if marijuana worked that's EXACTLY what I'd be using. I'm tired of this B.S.
