Teva Clonazepam Wafer As Substitute For The Tablet.
UpdatedSince Teva replaced their clonazepam pill with the Actavis version (which I'm not doing well with), would the wafer (that it looks like Teva still carries) make a good substitute? Does the wafer or the pill vary at all in distribution and effectiveness? And is it reasonable to think that the active ingredient in the Teva wafer is any different from the one in the Actavis tablet? Has anyone at least moved from tablet to wafer and experienced any difference?

RE: "Does the wafer or the pill vary at all in distribution and effectiveness?"
My gut tells me that it would vary (at least mildly) in distribution and effectiveness due to being a different composition altogether. I think a tablet would take longer to metabolize when compared to a wafer that's broken down quite easily by bodily fluids. Not to mention the variations of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) that influence bioavailability as well.
As to your other question, I believe it is reasonable to think that the active ingredient in the Teva wafers differs from the Actavis tablet, but probably only minutely, due to being made in different facilities and because the process of manufacturing generic drugs isn't as heavily regulated as their brand name counterparts...whereas part of the manufacturing processing standards are reportedly based more on an "honor system" than FDA regulation. NOTE: This is just my own understanding and others may have a different perspective.
I hope this helps! Looking forward to hearing other's feedback as well.
Re: David (# 1)
So sorry to read of anyone having trouble with any generic substitute. But I know it happened to me, and was due to both my generic seizure Rxs changed at the same time. Fine once I had both back as Teva. Now the switch to Actavis and it thankfully works fine for me. Does the original Klonopin manufacturer still put it out? Did you ever try it, and does your insurance cover it? If no to the last, write to the company if it digs too deep into your net income. Your doctor needs to give suggestions, or keep searching online.
I tried the teva wafers and they come on very fast. Sadly I had an allergic reaction to them. I am an outlier, so don't expect to have an allergic reaction yourself, I tend to be very odd with changes in medication. I didn't get sleep that night cause I was scared of the reaction getting more severe, but I do believe they would have put me to sleep. I'm not sure if I would've slept through the night though, they wore off a bit fast.
I will say my brain felt better on them though, like how I felt on the TEVA pills. And my anxiety seemed mostly at bay all day long. I have called and complained to TEVA at least 4 times telling them if they look on the internet they can see how many people are having problems and how many people need their old brand. I almost committed suicide on the Actavis brand. I seem to still be experiencing anxiety throughout the day and not sleeping well on the name brand, but I'm hoping its because I've only tried it for one night.
I also have other medicine changes going on at the moment though, so there may be many different things happening with me right now. I would at least give the wafers a try!
