Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 10) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.
While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.
My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.
If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.
Re: Edward (# 495)
I'm reading Dr.Heather Ashton's from you. keep updating your post if you have tried long acting benzo. any info there is very helpful to me. thanks
Re: Lex (# 505)
I've adjusted pretty well...it depends on what life-stressors I am under....what many new docs and "experts" fail to address.....long term benzo users went on them because a problem existed.....and THAT didn't go away.....so all docs could do was to treat the symptoms.......I don't know how people can taper-face the rebound from the drug and then go back to the problem (symptoms) that warranted the benzos to begin with.
What I've been told many of us have chemical, environmental and learned behaviors that cause our problems. Not all of us have each of these. After seeing the best of the best doctors in the past 40+ years mine falls under the chemical end of things. Aggravated by outside environmental stressors. I believe that most people with generalized anxiety disorder have some type of PTSD as well depression.
As for the Netflix documentary, yes they focused mainly on Xanax but if you watch the YouTube video you will hear them talk about other benzodiazepines plus show a quick chart with different pill shapes. If you seen that you'll see the dog house shape brand name Ativan. I'm not going to split hairs here about this. The fact I just got a pamphlet from the VA talking about what I'm saying here is proof enough to me they want to discontinue usage of these meds. Along with other things I've read as well.
Richard I've told you a few times out here you are truly blessed to have a understanding physician. But when he/she retires I hope that you'll be able to continue your dosage for the rest of your life. There's a good chance you'll run into the next wanting you off. I've been there done that. Call your local Veterans hospital or military base. Ask them what their policy is giving these meds. Call some of your local privately ran mental health treatment centers see if they won't tell you they don't prescribe benzos. Look on Psychology Today read the psychiatrist/PA's bio's. Most will say we will not prescribe them either. Not all of this is due to law suits. This comes down to many abusing the drug. That's where antidepressants will be said is your best bet from many providers. That or Buspar, TMS treatment or now Ketamine.
Wow about the Ketamine will that be another drug that folks will soon get addicted to. I know for a fact Ketamine works. I've had a few minor surgeries that the doctor uses it in he's choice of meds to put you under short term. Wake up with no anxiety or depression. EGD procedure. Anywho wish y'all good health! Keep the faith y'all! This too shall pass!
Re: Jibbs (# 508)
Jibbs, I have no doubt I'm going to doc shop when my current retires.....fortunately I live in an area where docs are ...well...less "disciplined" than much of the country. My cbt therapist who worked in a nursing home for 20 years says at my age its just too dangerous to taper me off....my lawyer says to let him know if they try because they want the case.....so..while I certainly don't wish to pursue lawsuits I'll have to go with my therapists discussions he's had with a few psychiatrists on my behalf that they wouldn't discontinue.....of course that might change when talking to me....and its not just me who will suffer...my disabled wife needs me as a caregiver 24/7 not just wheelchair bound but would face impossibilities with daily living were I not here. I did cold turkey off valium decades ago .....I couldn't take care of myself.
Re: Lex (# 510)
Yes for both and others illnesses.
So on a side topic: I was digging around the web today regarding Ativan and came across Bausch Health's revenue sheet for a subsection of drugs they make. All I can say is I can see why they don't feel the need to lower the insane cost of the brand name Ativan, it pulled in $50 Million in revenue in 2020. And well that's basically profit too as this stuff costs pennies a pill to make. Clearly a decent amount of health insurers are approving this bc no one is paying cash for this. Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind.

Y'all been quiet out here anything new. Any news of maybe a different brand of lorazepam possibly hitting the market. I'm still back and forth between Teva and Leading depending on what the flavor of the day is through the military base. Thought I'd check in on y'all to see how things are coming along with everyone.
Re: Richard H (# 521)
Sounds about right. I've found Teva works longer for me but makes me aggravated at times. But the silver lining is lasting longer. I don't have that urge to use more when super anxious or stressed out from personal stressors. I've only had the .5 mgs. It's nuts how one company can take over a whole city, state or the whole US. Leading and Major had that covered for sometime. Y'all take care.
Re: Russ (# 528)
Russ, the worst that can happen is the pill doesn’t work. I would take the new generic while you still have some of the old that work to take if the new fails. Then call your doctor and your choices are a) see if he can get your insurance approved for brand Ativan (preferred) or brand Loreev XR (once a day delayed release lorazepam), b) have you doctor prescribe a different benzodiazepine.
Re: Russ (# 533)
I've had Leading work as well as the present Teva......other prescriptions by other manufacturers not-as-great as the name brand Ativan....but that could be the result of the amount of stress I was under, the fillers they use, OR my imagination which plays a huge part in psychotropic meds.. often when you believe a generic won't work- it simply will not be as effective but the reverse is true. But there is the fact that some people are affected by the fillers used by different companies..not that the fillers are harmful but they 'might' prevent the patient from feeling the full effect of the active ingredient. There have been times over the years when my prescription has been filled with Leading and I thought OMG what am I going to do......other times its been filled with Leading and I thought "THANK GOD". So it really depends on state of mind. I am sure there are many on this forum who will rebut this...but I've never heard of one turning down their prescription and staying off lorazepam until they got it from the manufacturer they desired. As things stand now in the marketplace around me-despite the fact that Leading Co. is literally around the corner from mr- Teva is the only available brand in every pharmacy around me.
Re: Russ (# 533)
if you still have watson leave it first. you can try leading or teva. If you're not comfortable with either, you can still take your Watsons. you can still see your doctor. leading pills have a sweet taste but they are not as effective as watson's. but each person may be different. it could also work for you
Re: amy55 (# 523)
Teva doesn't work as well for me. Causes a little more anxiety at times which can cause aggravation for me. That doesn't necessarily mean it will for anybody else. As I said the silver lining is it lasts longer in my system. Hope that helps.
Re: Russ (# 533)
Hi Russ,
Leading works best for me. I can even just suck on one and let it dissolve in my mouth which makes the pill take effect in a few mintes rather than 45 minutes. The Teva actually makes my stomach hurt and I awaken in the middle of the night throwing up! I passionately hate that my little boutique pharmacy keeps having trouble getting the Leading pills and sticks me with Teva! I can drive a long ways and drag through the world’s largest grocery store and get the Leading there, but, the ones they get are different than the ones my Mom and Pop pharmacy gets! I would guess they have different manufacturing plants. The nausea has finally subsided, hopefully from the Teva, for now, hough the tummy pain remains. Probably hunger pains! The Teva seem to take longer to take effect, in part because I have to swallow those caustic little buggers, and then it hits me pretty hard. I strongly prefer the Leading from my Mom and Pop because I can suck on it, tasty little sugary thing, and then it comes on in a very gentle controlled manner letting me relax and so things and then go to sleep in a very natural way. The Teva makes me feel knocked out when it hits. I hope this feedback helps. I did just start a book on meditation and am hoping to get back to that and exercise, more sunshine, and swimming. And talk therapy! Best of luck!
What I've found is the .5 Teva doesn't work very well for me. But the 1mg works about the same as 1mg of Leading. Probably the fillers. Anything new going on for the rest of y'all.
Re: Kay (# 19)
I’ve been on lorazepam for 32 years & am now 71. I plan to remain on it til the end.
Re: Richard H (# 547)
Or what we've set our minds on what works for ourselves. I just take it now. Try not letting it psych me out. But we all know that Mylan was the best generic for many years. But the .5 mg is more powerful then the 2 mg in Teva. I think we all can agree they both stink.
Re: NeeJo (# 545)
Like I've told Richard doctors are cracking down on benzodiazepines. The pharmacist are putting serious pressure on the medical community. We all know different folks in our lives that know doctors, pharmacist or friends and family that have had either good experiences with them or not. I won't put out here the same story as some do. But the last I dealt with this personally was told this medication will come to a halt eventually. That conversation happens each Pdoc visit. Richard has be very fortunate that his doc hasn't taken him either down or off. I'm still never sure which Benzo he's on. He switches his story a lot. Not trying to scare anyone here at all. But I'm in the military community where it's being cut back. One of my kids deals with this in the civilian world. Hopefully the medical community will relax a bit and realize what Richard has said at some of our ages it's not to take us off. Peace y'all!
I need to proofread my comments better. What I was agreeing with Richard about is trying to take someone in their 60's and up off this medication would be detrimental to that individual.
Re: Jibbs55 (# 554)
What MY lack of proofreading doesn't screw up- then auto correct does!, lol
Re: Lou (# 2)
So I was on Teva for years. I noticed they switched me to Teva. You say it's a placebo? Why am I not having seizures then?
