I was diagnosed with Low T a few years ago, level was in the 180s. Androgel for two years never took it above 310, it was an improvement albeit minor. When I inquired about Testopel I was put on Axiron to see if it could bring me up two a good level as a baseline for the implants. After two months on A iron I was at 617 and feeling great. Doc did the testopel insertion and I've never felt better. However...my absorbtion for the first round was very, very quick...just under 8 weeks. I see questions about when will erections start, when will muscle start to grow, etc. Remember these aren't magic, they're just a hormone your body requires for other functions! In terms of sexual function--if you smoke, stop! Blood flow and clogged arteries are an erection killer. Eat right and s...

Just had injection last wensday slight pain but constant itching, will this stop? ## Hello, JC! How are you doing? Has the itching gone away, yet? You might be having an allergic reaction to something in it and may need antihistamines. Is there a rash and hives, or just topical itching? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including skin irritation, site soreness, irritability and weight changes.

cost of testopel ?? ## for 750 mg in a single dose of Testopel 950.00 plus 240 .00 for insert of 10 for a primary treatment. ## Testopel Pellets contain Testosterone, they are mainly used to treat men that are deficient in this hormone. As to the price you quoted, it is going to vary from doctor to doctor and will not be universal from one to the other. It depends on their mark-up on the Testopel and what they charge for the implantation procedure. Are there any other questions? ## What is the AWP for Testopel per pellet. ## Does Blue Shield of California cover most or at least some of the costs of Testopel pellet injections? ## Any women had this done? If so, what were your resuls - any side effects? ## I see this is question is 9 months old but I will reply anyway. I am a woman who ha...

Good Afternoon, I am currently 2 months into my testopel implant and the first 6 weeks I definitely felt the difference, but now my T levels are starting to drop back down. I recently did my blood test and my Doc confirmed that the levels are dropping but because they are still a little over 300 he cannot do another procedure because my insurance wont approve it until my levels drop to 205 again. Can I use T400 while I have Testopel stll in me ? Thanks in advance for the responses ## Hi Lucas, I think depending on how long you intend to continue testopel treatment would be a good indicator as to whether or not you should supplement with additional testosterone, since adding more (i.e. increasing your levels) may also increase your wait time for another procedure - If I understand that c...

Is it normal to have black and blue looking scares. I stopped get my testopel injections cause the area was hurting me all the time plus my last injection the pellets after a month starting coming out. Is any of the normal. ## Hello, Msk! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. No, that's not typical. There may be some bruising and irritation upon initial insertion, but that should go away in a few days and they shouldn't be coming out. I think you may do better seeing a different doctor. The FDA lists this as being a hormonal supplement and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Just had my second testopel implant done. The first time the mino...

What are the levels that are checked other than testasterone levels. I'm using testopel. ## @RDM, According to the manufacturer's website for Testopel, "your doctor may periodically do tests to check for liver damage, as well as any signs of an increased red blood cell count if you are receiving higher doses." Ref: testopel.com/faqs I'm not aware of them checking for anything else outside of what is mentioned above, but you may still want to talk with your doctor as well just to be sure. Hope this helps! ## My doc says he will check blood work including the t count, PSA, and an exam for enlarged prostate after 2 months. ## They routinely (or should routinely) check PSA + physical exam, red blood cell counts, two separate T level checks, estrogen protein, and Pituitar...

How often should I get lab work done after an inj.? My first therapy went from 114 to 640 in a month. Follow up labs after month three showed me dropping back to 165. Any suggestions on a lab work schedule to avoid another crash? Thanks! ## Hello, Charlie! How are you doing? That is pretty much the regular schedule, but you may want to speak to your doctor and see if they'd be willing to check every 2 months for awhile. Does anyone have a doctor that checks more often? This is listed as hormonal supplementation medication and the side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

In Dec, my total testosterone was 220, free around 4. In January, I tested again as a double check and it was 167. I also learned my vitamin D was very low (22). I started the injections, and then moved to Androgel 1.65. I visited an Endocrinologist in May who confirmed I had Hypogonadism, but no true source could be identified. I also visited a urologist in late July who does Testopel, and he confirmed he could do it for me. Said he would start with 14 pellets. My insurance will cover the procedure, and will cover 80% of the cost of each pellet. The urologist charges $100 / per pellet, so my total cost would be $20 X 14 pellets = $280 + $35 copay = $315. What I didn't like about the urologist was his matter of fact approach: you have Low T, you need to treat it. No interest in look...

A quick update to let you guys know that all 14 of the biopsy sections taken from me 1 1/2 weeks ago were benign. Then I wasted no time to renew my TESTOPEL pellets implantation. I had it done yesterday morning. I look forward in another day or two to begin feeling the benefits of this procedure. Good luck to all if you dealing -- in various ways -- with your T-level deficiency. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I am so very glad that you got such great news! Congrats!!! Does the Testopel work well for you? It seems some other men have said that they didn't do well with. ## Hi Verwon : good to hear from you. I hope things are going well for you. To answer your query, TESTOPEL works extremely well for me. I was doing the injections every two (2) weeks after the removal of my left testicle ...

Four (4) days ago I had my 2nd protate biopsy. The 1st one was four (4) years ago. This one has been more problematic. While still on the table after the 14 samples were taken, I became nauseated, dizzy and broke out in s cold sweat. Low sugar was blamed. Was given a tootsie pop to eat and within ten (10) minutes, I was feeling much better. Yesterday (3 days post-biopsy) I mowed my grass, on the lawn tractor for two hours. I came in to shower. When I urinated, there was much higher concentration of bright red blood in it. I'm think the bouncing on the lawn tractor aggravated the recently-invaded prostate tissue. Anyone have any thoughts? Am waiting, now, for biopsy results. If positive, this will end my every 3-months TESTOPEL implantation.

I am 61 and also am successfully treated for low thyroid. Together with Vitamin D supplements, which almost everyone needs, I feel great and people spontaneously say I look better than ever. My points quickly: It feels like a minor punched-in-the-buttock black and blue mark for 2 days. Mental sharpness and creativity even outweighs physical. Physical for me included drop from 224 to 192 lbs and stable, no more heaviness feeling in arms, and overall get-up-and-go. Libido much higher and herbal supplements are great and inexpensive. Very happy twice-a-weeker with happier wife. (glad this is anonymous) I discovered this on my own, then got my doctors approvals - that's why I am psyched with it - my discovery. It takes 10 days for it to be noticed. 6 months ago I though I lost insurance...

I have been on testopel for over 2 years. At first I loved it but now it doesn't seem to do what it did before. I'm 35 lbs heavier not active so much. I can't eat much. I wonder if the testopel is causing the shortness of breath and other issues? Does anyone else have info on issues like this? I would appreciate others input thanks ## Hello, Zach! How are you? It is always hard to say, because there are so many things that could cause these types of symptoms. Have you consulted your doctor? The weight gain and shortness of breath could be the signs of a dangerous health problem, so you need to seek medical attention.

Has anyone experienced this while on Testopel. There is no lump on the breast just the pain that happens several times per day. I have been on the therapy for two years but this just started a few weeks ago. ## Hello, Fred! How are you? Is this still happening? I'd suggest having your doctor check it out. Even men can get breast cysts from hormonal changes in their body and they can act like.

I just had Testopel implants put in about 48 hours ago. I noticed about 36 hours after the procedure some muscle cramping in my stomach and thighs. Now 48 hours later my arms and calves are getting cramps as well. I have been on testosterone shots for a few years now and I have never experienced this with IM injections. Has anyone else had side effects like these? ## Hello! How are you doing? Have they gotten any better? Yes, this has been reported by other people that have received the Testopel implants. I just got testopel implanted and have an enormous bruise where it was implanted and uncomfortable pain for over a week. Is this normal? ## @Greg, Based on my research, "Inflammation and pain at the site of subcutaneous implantation of (testopel) testosterone containing pellets", is listed as a normal side effect. Referenced from: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=57330 If it doesn't appear to subside or go away after a while I would just encourage you to ask your doctor about proper care for a quicker healing. Bruises usually tend to go away within a matter of a week or two. I hope this helps! ## I had the same type of bruising when I get Testopel (getting ready for 4th time next week). I was a bit shocked at first. I did have pain, but was able to manage it wit...

In the next few years, I feel low T will become as well known as diabetes. Used to do opiates, have lymes disease though retired after working for 33 years, owning three businesses. If I can help anyone here- will try. Straight male hoping now, that the shots changed my life, testopel will hopefully last longer with same benefits. Was a long haired hippie graduating high school in 1975. Feel free to ask. Have a great 2012 holiday season. M ## Day 2 after having 12 pellets. Not as sore as it was. Overall just have to rest day of insertion. Did walk a mile each day since done. Was told not to ride my bike for a week. No shower in 48 hours sad to say. Still have bandage over area. Will take off later today. The steri strips should fall off within a week. Have a great day.

Got Testopel insertion about 3 weeks ago but still have an erection problem. Do I need something like Viagra or Cialis to take in addition to Testopel to get an erection? ## Testopel is a testosterone supplement, so it will only help if your problem has been caused by a low testosterone level and, if that is the case, it will still take some time for it to return your testosterone levels to normal to remedy the erectile dysfunction. Learn more Testosterone details here. Thus, in the meantime, yes you may need something else to help with the erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra or Cialis. Learn more Viagra details here. Learn more Cialis details here. You should consult with your doctor and see if they think it is safe for you to use one of these medications. How low were your testostero...

I've tried every search I can think of.....Who make Testopel and what is their contact information.......I've tried one round of treatment and it worked better than any other treatment I've tried in the past 6 years, but now my Insurance company has denied the claim after originally approving it........I need to get back on this treatment...... ## Testopel is manufactured by Slate Pharmaceuticals and they can be contacted at: 318 Blackwell Street Suite 240 Durham, NC 27701 t: 919.682.8800 f: 919.682.8809 However, I don't know if they provide any assistance programs, since they don't list that information on their website. Is there anything else I can help with?

This was my First time using the Testopel Pellet I thought it would last for up to 4 months. My body has used it all up. now back on shot once a week. is it worth having another one but in. Thanksbq ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? The absorption rate can vary, but they really shouldn't dissolve that fast. How long did they last? As to it being worth it, that is really up to you. Is it an inconvenience to go in for the weekly shots? If it is, then you may want to try the pellets, again.
