Terrible Arthritis Hip Pain (read Details)

Terrible hip pain from Arthritis. Taking 90 ml methadone liquid for over 13 yrs. Nothing can help pain due to methadone tolerance is so high. Friend gave me a Butran patch 15mcg/per hour, but after reading online advice I'm afraid of going into severe withdrawal of the methadone. I understand these two together will not work, but rather cause me great problems. I've tried Norco, Oxy-cordone, Percaset, n Ibprofin 800mg. If anything, the ibprofin 800 helped slightly, but nothing else even fazed my pain at all. I'm now seeing a pain management Dr. who has prescribed me lidocaine patches, and some type of non-narcotic inflammatory patches. I am waiting already over two weeks for him to pre-authorize these patches, so don't know if they will help my pain. Does anyone know of something I can take that will work w the methadone to give me some relief from this horrible pain in my hip?

Sorry your suffering so. Your in a top spot. Very few Rx's will have much of an analgesic effect after being on such a high dose of methadone for so many years. There are some very potent transdermal patches like fentanyl but certainly not in conjunction with your current methadone dose. Speak to your pain management doc honestly about your fears and lack of current pain control with your methadone. In the interim OTC anti inflammatory like Ibuprophen or related NSAIDs may help reduce some inflammation. See your doc ASAP. No one should have to suffer when modern protocols are available.
