Tanzeum And Rising Blood Sugar Levels (Page 2)
UpdatedBeen on it for a week and now my blood sugar levels are higher, and I tried to call them and they will not return my calls, so tell me why am I taking something that is making my blood sugars higher? Now I eat less and now my blood sugar is higher. It used to be 140 to 180, now it is 186 to 235 which I have never been this high, so what is the deal? How long do you have to be on it for it to start working? OR maybe it does not work on me.
I have type 1 diabetes and I started tanzeum 3 days ago and already I have experienced very low blood sugars and now I always am dropping. I also had dkc as well and my protein is still very high. All over all I don't think I'm going to remain on this med as i dont like the way I feel on it. I miss my Humalog. Honestly I have very good control over my blood sugars and most of the time I don't need my insulin.
I started taking Tanzeum 6 days ago with my metformin and glipizide. I was told to just add it and it was ok to continue the others.
However, the Tanzeum makes me very nauseated. I had one full day of vomiting...day 4.
Does anyone take Tanzeum 30 mg and a long acting insulin and metformin?
I was taking 30 mg tanzeum. First time I took it. It lowered my blood sugar almost immediately but then insurance would not cover it. I took 2000 metformin and 20 mg glimepride and my numbers still remained high. Went to endro and she got my insurance to cover Tanzeum. Three weeks 30 mg and felt fine except right leg constantly in ache. Went to 50 mg and blood sugars higher. She wanted me on metformin too but it cause such blurred vision that I couldn't work. Now at 50 mg also headache and neck pain too. Help.
Two weeks on 30 mg Tanzeum, I also take my long acting insulin and metformin, the doctor took me off my meal time insulin. Before I took the tanzeum my A1C was 5.9, now my blood sugar app is telling me Im possibly 8.1, because of all the high numbers without my mealtime insulin. Not having the stomach problems but not liking the high sugar readings in the 250s when I had them down.
THOMAS IS THE 50 working for you, Im taking the 30 and still having high readings and also concerned that this med can cause pancreatis and thyroid carcenoma
I read that back pain is one of the side effects, I have been experiencing that.
On 30 mg my right leg ached all the time. I used 30 mg for a month then she upped it to 50 mg two weeks ago. Yesterday I had my 2nd inj. and I seemed to be fine in the morning... But in the evening I got up to walk and almost fell on the floor due to the sudden shooting pain in my right leg! It would ease up sitting up each time I put pressure on it... The pain was back for about 2 hours. It could not have been caused by anything else but the tanzeum.
You can take both together, but you may need to go on insulin with those high numbers.
My Endo told me that it takes about 4 weeks to get the desired effect
It took until the 5th week on Tanzeum before it actually seemed to work. First four weeks numbers were in 200s glucose, now its leveled out at 165. Even after eating and I've lost six lbs, did find that I have to drink more water, or get dehydrated on Tanzeum.
Update....pain in leg remained off and on another week. Started itching like crazy and then my throat started hurting and my neck swelled. My voice is deepening. Went to dr 2 days ago...reported it for blood tests but nothing back yet. Off Tanzeum now 2nd day numbers are starting to come down...leg pain gone...itching stopped. Throat starting to get better but not gone...
I am a type one diabetic and have been on this medication for a few months now. I am not the best at checking my blood (been a life long struggle) but when I do keep on top of it I notice it's easier to control when I'm using this medication. However, I will admit that I don't feel that great due to all the I digested food sitting in my gut making me feel like I have lead in my stomach and making me extremely and embarrassingly gassy. I also feel more tired but I feel like that's a small means to an end. I am wondering though, for those of you who report elevated blood sugars upon starting this medication, could it be your body trying to get use to the side effects of this drug? It is quite an adjustment and we know that stressors on the body can increase blood sugar... Just a thought. My biggest question is for those of you that are sticking it out, have you found anything to ease the discomfort of the side effects???
I was on 30 Tanzium and 1 glop oxide 5 mg extended r. Blood sugar fasting climb from 140 am to above 200 am , then I was put on the 50 mg Tanzium and Glipizide . No change in Blood sugar still above 200 and I have severe intergestion. Taking Zantec for that , it helping the intergestion . I want my Metformin back , this is horrible
It took 4 weeks before Tanzium 30 mg started working for me, by that I mean when I went bavk for checkup at six weeks I had lost 15 lbs, sugars are down out of the 200s now highest is 165. I still take my metformin I wont let that go. Now on Tanzium 50mg, but weight lost slowed a little, but I think its because I havent been watching my diet close enough. I HAVE LEARNED THAT WITH THIS MEDICATION YOU HAVE TO INCREASE YOUR WATER INTAKE AND ALSO FIBER.
Update on my progress I have been on Tanzeum , 2 1/2 months and have a weight loss of 20 lbs. Have decreased my insulin, off off meal time insulin and lowered my dose of long acting. I Take metformin also. My sugars are in the 140s.
I have stopped taking Tanzeum and after 2 months returned to normal. I will never do it again.
I am having a bad experience with tanzeum after 4 weeks. I won't take anymore but how long does it take to get out of a person's system?
What bad things happened while taking tanzeum, if you dont mind my asking? Ive taken it for five months lost 26 lbs.I had some reservations at first.
I had a very BSD low after four weeks on tanzeum stopped taking it about two weeks ago. Feel much better but Still feel a little strange at times but waiting for it to get out of my system. BG levels have not changed since stopping it. 130s to 160s post meal.
