Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 27) (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?
ALEC: I'm guessing you HAVEN'T experienced full-blown precipitated withdrawal. You would surely not be saying "uncomfortable for about an hour" if so! "Uncomfortable", I can do. This is a whole other LEVEL of hell. I LITERALLY saw demons.
BETTY: Glad it worked out for you. No, precipitated withdrawal is something you DON'T want to go through. EVER. Glad you are back to "normal"!
JM526: Sure you have bud, sure you have. The one person ON PLANET EARTH that can IV Naloxone after taking opioids and NOT get sick. It's a medical miracle!! I just showed your comment to our staff addiction specialist. We had a good laugh over it. But then addicts would NEVER lie, would they? Stop lying to strangers, it's unattractive.
That is so wrong. I've taken both the same day taking my Vicodin for my extreme pain that day and then decided I didn't want to switch to subutex. absolutely no prec. WD's. People may have this experience but NOT EVERYONE will have that experience - it is just not so. For me I had absolutely no issue whatsoever, took my vicodin all day long one day, according to Script, which was four for the day and my last one being taken approximately 8 PM. I woke up in the morning, took the subutex, no problems whatsoever, Took one Vicodin around lunch, still no problem. People really shouldn't try to tell others something I've tried and true when it's not so. For me I'm just trying to wean off the Vicodin . I've been taking 4 a day for too long and they don't have the effect they used to in helping with my pain , and I'm not about to double my doses. I want to just stop the taking of them every day and without subutex, would be sick as a dog with regular old Vicodin withdrawals
Just bc you are or claim to be a doctor doesn't mean all your information is correct. I have the upmost respect for physicians but y'all get things wrong quite often. If doctors all gave the correct diagnosis, treatment method, or information to their patients then why are yall spending such large sums of money on medical malpractice insurance? I can honestly say from much personal experience that iv'ing suboxane(not Subutex) that contains naloxone as a iv'ing deterrent is either a scare tactic to make people who do IV afraid that if administered via that method will automatically be thrown into precipitated withdrawal's or it just doesnt work that way on me personally. I have done both Suboxone strips and pills intravenously and never been thrown into precipitated withdrawal once thr majority of opiates have cleared my system I have experience PWD's from dosing with Suboxone too soon after taking Oxy. i don't know if it's just different for me or if those particular "side effect" have just been made up by those who make and distribute Suboxone to make potential intravenous users believe if administered via IV it will result in the most agonizing withdrawls anyone could ever imagine?
Michael don't listen to that guy that thinks he knows everything but obviously has trouble processing information. Naloxone fills up and blocks your receptors so nothing gets by it and that's why it throws you into withdrawal. You can read more here and here's a little clip that "Einstein" posted trying to tell you just the opposite...
"...Naloxone works as an opiate antagonist. It will fill the opiate receptors in the brain and it won’t let other drugs activate these receptors, but unlike buprenorphine (which fills and activates receptors) naloxone will not activate opiate receptors. With all receptors full but not activated, a person feels immediate and intense withdrawal pains."

CM: Actually, unlike so many on here, I DO know what I am talking about, and I really don't care what you think about it. These drugs are DESIGNED to work that way. I suspect you are likely just a liar.
CM: And, "liar", sorry, but there is NO WAY a person with that high of a habit (20 percs a day) is going to be able to detox off of them using ONLY TWO STRIPS of Suboxone, without going through some pretty substantial withdrawal. I suspect you aren't even an opiate user, and you known NOTHING about what you speak. If you actually believe that hogwash, I have some lovely oceanfront property in Nebraska I'd like to sell you. Dirt cheap!
MILLIE: You should not take Subutex/Suboxone soon AFTER taking a full-agonist opioid like Percocet. I would wait until you are in pretty substantial withdrawals, or you are chancing it. Look up "COWS opioid scale" for more information. There are people on here who will tell you BS, like that you can take Subutex 30 minutes after Percocet and you will be "fine", that they "do it all the time..." Those people should likely be ignored. You DON'T want to experience precipitated withdrawals. "Regular" withdrawals are TAME by comparison.
Subutex does not block other opiates.Suboxone does because of the Naloxone...
My last dose of Percocet was at 4 pm today. Can I restart my subutex in the morning with no withdrawals
I've been on Subutex for almost 10 years at 16 mg. I had surgery and came off the Subutex a day before. The doctor only prescribed me perk fives and I've been on them for almost 5 days. The Percocet or not satisfying my withdrawals do I need to wait to take my Subutex
I took 8mg subutex at like 11am. Then at 6:45 I took an OP 80. Am I going to feel it or just get sick?
Took a 2mg subutex at 4 pm yesterday and it is now 8 am. Is it safe to take a percocet 10 mg?

Hello kkh, how have you been? Fine I hope. It's crazy how some just won't listen, you can even give them the actual website address that clearly states the facts like Suboxone and Subutex are opiates that naloxone is an abuse-deterrent and that buprenorphine is the drug in both and it is actually itself what caused the precipitated withdrawals, and then there's this question, why is a person that's "prescribed" Suboxone/Subutex taking any...any...other opiate much less a benzo, you know though the best teacher is experience. I just wouldn't wish the precipitated experience on anyone. Glad to see you again and hope your doing well.
Re: Cris (# 16)
Thanks...I just took 30 perks in 3 days and now I have 4 subutex...so I can start taking pieces of those and I'll feel good, right?? And I noticed that neurontin with the subs is great!
Re: Asmash (# 587)
Subutex will take away the withdrawals, but self medicating is not a good idea, and mixing gabapentin with the Subutex is not a very good idea, it can cause seizures, and other adverse effects, please be careful.
Hello.
After being on Suboxone for a while how hard is it to get a doctor to give you pain medications again? I'm 81 years old and I'm so desperate at this point.
Re: kkh (# 407)
You just don't read posts correctly, and you run your mouth too much.. You think you're the most knowledgeable person on the planet, but you're not.. You just like going around and making people mad.. Just go away, please?

Hi, Why do you want to go back on pain meds, and why did you get on Suboxone to begin with? You don't have to answer, but this is what the doctor will ask.. How long have you been on Suboxone? I'm just curious because I've been on pain meds for years and I switched to Belbuca 3 months ago, and it does help with the pain.. Look up Belbuca, it might be good for you? Good luck, and please write back?
