Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 22) (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?
MYNAMEISNONEOFYOURBUSINESS: You are absolutely 100% incorrect, and David and Rachel are 100% correct. Naloxone is less than 5% bioavailable when taken sublingually, whereas it is, of course, 100% bioavailable when taken intravenously. IT IS THE BUPRENORPHINE ITSELF that causes precipitated withdrawals with sublingual Subutex/Suboxone, NOT the Naloxone. You are just plain wrong. Not only do I know this for a fact from my work, I HAVE BEEN THROUGH PRECIPS PERSONALLY FROM SUBUTEX, NOT FROM SUBOXONE. (I am allergic to Naloxone, and took ONLY Subutex for years) I also recently sat up with someone going through horrible precips, AGAIN, from Subutex, NOT Suboxone. Bupe is a partial opioid ANTAGONIST, which is why the Bupe itself causes this.
I suggest it is YOU who should "get their info right before posting on these sites", because, again, your information is completely incorrect. Hopefully no one takes your bad advice and your incorrect info, and throws themselves into a bad rattle because of it.
Please stay off of here if you can't get your info straight, because you CLEARLY don't know what you are talking about.
By the way, Google is your friend. You can easily find this info out for yourself. Good luck with that.
It's called opana. .....the oxymorphone most doctors don't prescribe it anymore it's super strong and addictive.
Just FYI... The primary difference between SuboxoneandSubutexis that one of these medications also contains a substance called “naloxone”, while the other one does not: Subutex contains a single active ingredient: buprenorphine.Suboxone contains two active ingredients: buprenorphine and naloxone. Because buprenorphine is the active ingredient inSubutex, the medication can achieve this effect. However, Subutexis not meant to be used like a naloxone inj. or anopiateblocker in most instances. It is, for the most part, used "for the treatment of opioid dependence" (FDA).

If you looked you would see that her doctor prescribed her both read it is key
Re: James (# 585)
People can take Percocet with Subutex but they can't take Percocet with suboxone it won't do anything to them they'll just pee it out and that's it. Educate educate educate yourselves.
You will not get sick... I used to take the Subutex with opiates so I wouldn't overdose. Suboxone would send u into precipitated withdrawal.
I’m doing the same thing right now. So if you’ve already got Subutex in your system, the Percocet will not do anything and you won’t feel the effects at all, until about 24+ after your last dose of Subutex. As for the taking Subutex after taking Percocet, I know you can go into precipitated withdrawal with suboxone if you take it too soon with Percocet in your bloodstream, but I still have not found ANY concrete evidence online about Subutex. So I ended up waiting about 12-16 hours after my last dose of Percocet to take the Subutex then just stayed on that for a while, until a few weeks later when I needed to take Percocet, which again, took about 24+ to start working after my last dose of sub. But I haven’t dared take both simultaneously, it’s either/or. Please let me know if you have a different experience as well, or find any other info? If the wait time before taking sub doesn’t need to be as long, that would be helpful to know. I thought that was the whole point of Subutex vs suboxone, Subutex doesn’t have naloxone, but everything I find on the internet is intentionally misleading it seems.
Re: foreverillkid (# 608)
Not the gospel here, but trying to provide a good response to your question.. On Subutex, wait 12 hours (at least) and you should be able to get the perc in your system, whether or not you get the glow from it, it will help with the pain.. I hope that helps you..
Re: Ryder (# 613)
It doesn’t do anything with Subutex either, both suboxone and Subutex contain buprenorphine which is an an opioid agonist-antagonist, so they both technically block your opioid receptors so you don’t feel the effects, until it’s out of your bloodstream 20-48 hrs (not out of your system which can take up to 8-10 days). The only difference between the two is the naloxone which is mostly to discourage people from shooting it up, and further abuse, as it can make you very sick.
Did you end up going into precipitated withdrawals then? I’m just curious because I’ve been taking perc 10’s the last few days and really want to switch back to subs now, but don’t want to wait the whole 16+ to take, withdrawals are already pretty bad. Did you take the Subutex shoetylu after taking Percocet? I only found medical source online that said that you didn’t have to do the waiting/induction period, all the rest of the info I find comes from rehab places that treat it as though it’s suboxone even if you specify it’s Subutex. I hope you’re okay, let me know if you can, thank you!
Re: Di-z (# 1)
What kind of doctor would put you on a partial opioid antagonist and an opiate ag the same time?? You will get sick everytime. And the headaches are from the dose of subutex being too high. Trust me. never take a pain pill with buprenorphine it’s a recipe for disaster and is ass backwards...
Re: blizz (# 13)
I am responding eventhough this is an old post, there is much incorrect info throughout; Tramadol is on same level as Toradol
Bull----! If she did not feel Dialaudid she will not feel Tramadol- tramadol is not even a true opiod!
Re: foreverillkid (# 608)
My doctor put me on Percocet for a hip replacement surgery. Other Dr put me on Subutex. I'm not taking the sub with the cet
No you will not get sick.its suboxene that would make u sick but im VERY shocked you are getting percs n subutex at the same time.al.ost unheard of until now.u must be wealthy .
You shouldn’t have an withdrawals bc the nalaxone is what kicks opioids out
The burpronorphine is just a pain receptor blocker.
I’ve been on sunburned for 10yrs or more
And I can take pain meds too for break through pain.
Re: tdinpa (# 4)
Didn’t think you did get sick on subutex. I haven’t
I want to confirm from these post, can I take my subutex after being on percocets for 6 weeks from 2 major back surgeries...I'm tired of being on the percocets and once my pain subsides more I want to switch back to my subutex. I was on .25mg of subutex before my back surgery for pain meds dependency for 3 years and it changed my life 100%. Since I'm not taking suboxone do I still have to wait until I'm in moderate withdrawal before taking my subutex. I take 60mg of percocets in a 24 hr. period written by my back surgeon. Please help. Thank you Suzi
Suboxone only causes withdrawal if you have been taking Percocet for weeks uninterrupted and have become dependent on it. To test, stop taking Percocet and wait three days. If you are crawling out of your skin (not just in pain) you are dependent. If you take a Subutex while you are still feeling crappy you will stop the withdrawal! If you take more Percocet and get to feeling better, do NOT take the Subutex, it will send you into withdrawal and nothing can stop it!
Taking Subutex can cause withdrawal.
Taking Percocet cannot cause withdrwal.
Stopping either will cause withdrawal.
All holds true ONLY if you are dependent on either. Make sense?
i have been taking morphine sulphate 90mg a day tablets.i want to start on subutex instead of the morphine sulphate tabs.i have subutex but i am worried if i take it first thing when i wake and i still have the morphine sulphate in my system i will go straight into withdrawals.is this right please help
I was on methadone, went to the dr for idunction, he gave me subutex. I was soo sick. yes subitex, not suboxone. its been 3 weeks. I feel muvh better but it did put me in withdrawl no matter how many more I took after my first dose. maybe its just because I was on methadone. dont know. it was terrible! oh, and my dr promised me it would only lasg 20 min. haha.
