Taking Morphine And Norco In The Same Day

My brother takes 30 mg morphine tablets by prescription every 12 hours. He complains that he is in pain all of the time anyway, even though they are better than the norco 10 mg that he was taking before. My sister-in-law takes norco 10 mg, 6 per day, and he has been begging her to give him 2 - a - day to take in between his morphine. He has, of course, not told his doctor. I want to know what combining these two will do to him? Thanks

Live with pain? I'd rather not live if my prognosis is pain. I'm OK with euthanasia or suicide but trust I Will Not live in pain regardless of your personal feelings. I hope you don't work in the medical field. Compassion much?
My doctor just cut my norco 10/325 from 130 to 60 and gave me moraphine 15ER to go with them , is that stronger then 2 of the norcos?
They are safe together, instead of thinking he has a addiction you should find out if it is Psudoaddiction! Is it because his doctor refuses to provide more even know he has been on that dose a long time? I agree giving him those is helping him go down a bad road really quickly even if he truly needs them for pain. Look up psudoaddiction amd see if that fits? Good Luck
Yes they have them without Tylenol same with codeine, but I've never gotten any benefit with them, not sure if it's just me, but it does nothing
Chugalong fear not! He will probably be okay since many doctors usually do prescribe the Morphine for every 12hrs along with Norco or another short acting opiate for breakthrough pain...
I have an uncle in the same predicament.. He's currently on morphine pills and OxyContin prescribed by the dr. He's always bothering me or my mother for Norco 10 or percoset 10 so between me and my mom he gets about 60 a month out of us total. I can clearly see he has a drug problem and that's what i see here. Btw those 2 combined are not safe so tell him to be careful and better keep on 1 drug
I take Norco which does not contain 1000mg of tylenol. It has less than a 5mg vicodin. Vicodin has 500mg per 5mg. I know I took those too. Norco that I receive has 10mgs of vicodin & 325mg of tylenol.
Your post was VERY helpful. I didn't know all of this, certainly not that hydrocodone was available without the tylenol. Thanks a lot!
If you have never been in chronic pain ..you have no idea what it's like. There are times when you feel so useless...and people down you saying suck it up..or you just wanna feel high. Severe chronic pain makes you feel so incapacitated to the pain that death will at least make it go away. Don't judge unless you've been through it.
My niece took like 6 or 8, 10 milligrams of hydro and put on one of those morphine pain patches and she always took a lot of hydros. She had a heart attack and died at 47 last year, so tell him to be very careful. Pain is better than death. Sometimes it don't feel that way I know cuz I'm in pain daily and nobody will even give me 5 milligrams of s*** but it's sure better than death.
As far as a bad side effect nothing will happen. Currently in Pain Management for years and know for a fact that Morphine feels like its the weakest out of all opiates. None the less it might help your brother so he can ween slowly. He needs his tell his M.D. how he truly fells. Tell your Brother that Hydrocodone is an the main ingredients in Norco and Acetaminophen, which is in Tylenol. I tell him to go for an opioid that's pure Hydrocodone ER that comes in MG's from 10 mg-120 mg. The great thing about this new drug it does not have Acetaminophen, which can blow out your liver after due time. No one should ever go over a gram in a day of Acetaminophen which is 1000 MG. The Norco has a lot of it in it. My Cousins an M.D. and gives me alot of information. So that's your brothers best bet and Hydrocodone an Opioid which produces Morphine similar like effects, but honestly your brother is not trying to pull one over you. If you have more questions i have a a lot of input on all of this. Always here for questions.
Morphine is a slow acting medicine so yes, he probably needs something for breakthrough pain. I hate how people have abused the system and now make it harder for those who really need it. No where do i see that he is abusing his medications. If he was then he'd obviously be taking more of the morphine in appropriate ways. But jumping on him and screaming addict isn't the answer.
Doctors think everyone is looking for drugs to feel high, people are dying in pain because of these Drs. Wake Up, they're dying, keep them comfortable.
FYI: The in the face of pain's website closed down last year. I have yet to find a dr that is more interested in helping you with your pain than they are protecting their own ass. I recently when to a pain center and spent ten minutes with the dr who ordered an mri and then they set an appt for a month from now. We did not really even discuss possible options that could help with major ongoing back pain. Pain pills help a little but never have completely controlled the pain after surgery years ago. He was much more interested in making sure I did a U/A and I was not even asking him to prescribe pain meds but just any additional alternatives. The mri was done the next day & now I just wait. I wish him good luck finding someone who will help but don't share meds.
To everyone suffering from under treated pain we have advocate groups that are fighting for our rights such as in the face of pain & pain matters. There are petions to the president please if you wish to preserve our rights. Sign. To Jasmine. I wish you could feel what one of us feels with the meds & see if you can last 10 minutes with out. Ignorance in your case is hurting people. Try a little compassion.
Sounds like he needs rehab for his body the opiates will no longer work after a whileI was on pain medicine for a long time because I broke my back in two places pain med stopped working I stop taking pain meds and got on Suboxone it works much better for pain
Nothing will happen to him, but he needs to consult his dr and let him know that the pain meds prescribed to him is not helping with the pain. I've been a pain patient for 10 years and your body builds a tolerance and after a while your meds need changing or altering. Or possibly like myself given a pain patch in addition to the pills for breakthrough pain. I wouldn't make it a habit of giving him your pain meds, he really needs to talk to his doctor about his pain
Greetings. I take both with no problems for two years. In fact, I take HysinglaER 120 and MSIR 30. As long as he does not over do the Norco, no need to worry about your brother. I have used the fast and slow release with zero negative effects. Good luck.
First of all morphine by mouth is weak only 10 percent actually gets used in the body! Second his doctor should be prescribing him break thru medication and no 2 hydrocodones will not likely hurt him however if his doctor pee tests him he will get likely cut off and get nothing. I strongly urge him to go back to his doctor and pleade his case for better pain control.
He has broken his back three times, with fusion surgery afterwards, He also broke his neck and had to have some fusion. He has also broken most of the bones in his body, He is unable to walk upright, but must bend over in a bow almost 90'. He spent a year in a body cast. He has also had multiple operations for various reasons, Heart attacks, colon problems, colon cancer ( in remission ) so I think he has plenty of reasons to be in pain. Even shortly after taking his morphene, he is moaning with pain. The only real relief he gets is when he sleeps. He has decided, after getting back from his recent 3 week hospital stay, that he wants to go DNR. I would appreciate leaving off the negative comments.
