Taking Ibuprofen With Isosorbide Mononitrate

Can my husband take ibuprofen while taking Isosorbide Mononitrate? He's only be taking it for 2 days now & he's had a headache for approximately a day & a half. He's taken Motrin & Advil which has eased off very little. He's taking 30mg ER tabs. I would appreciate some feedback very much! Thanks in advance!

Ibuprofen is the the active ingredient in Motrin and Advil, so it is doubtful that it is going to help much more than they did.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. (NDC 0113-0517 for more details.) Headache can be a side effect of Isosorbide. How long has he been taking it? Has he asked his doctor what he can take to alleviate it?

When they gave it to me, in the hospital, they gave me Tylenol/Acetaminophen and it worked wonderfully to alleviate the headache.

Is he on any other medications?
