Taking 2.5mg Of Metolazone
UpdatedI have been on it 2 times a day for about 3 weeks. For the last 2 weeks I have had this constant non-productive cough. I do not smoke and I am not around smokers, Also I am 60 years old. Could this drug be the reason for this constant cough? After I cough for so long I get winded and have trouble breathing. I also have had some stomach and nausea but I am overweight and the good side is I have lost my gigantic appetite.
Should I contact my physician and ask to go off because of the constant cough? I just want some suggestions I am not going to get anyone in trouble, I am responsible for my own health. I just wanted some additional feedback. It seems that doctors do not have the time to become an expert on all the medication so it is up to the patient to get information to take to the doctor to help him make a medical treatment plan.

Sir, I have been taking Metolazone for 5 years and I just get a little dizzy and pee as it is purposed to do. My b/p is always at 128-130/80-85 all the time. I know your post is from 2009 but I am on a number of meds for diabetes and COPD. Talk about being tired and dizzy and in a lake of quicksand all day. Oy Vey! Most all my meds side effects say pretty much the same thing. If you read them long enough you may go into mental agreement and say : "yup, got that; uhhuh, that too; etc.;etc.

I am with Humana which is a HMO contract with Medicare and my Doc knows a heck of alot. You should find another Doc. and if you're afraid to say anything, well Sir, it won't help you in the end. Live long and Be Well!
I was taking torsemide and metolazone 2.5mg. I had an ablation 3 weeks ago and the swelling in my feet went down. So I stopped taking water pills, but since the day after I stopped I began feeling so tired and can't sleep at night. Could it be from stopping these pills?
This medication has been known to cause a cough as a side effect, along with increased urination, dizziness, and hypotension, according to FDA reports.
Unfortunately, once the cough starts, it doesn't usually go away, so you may need to switch to a different medication.
Are you on any other medications?
