- Tagamet is a protagonist for some narcotics (like Methadone) and some benzodiazepenes (like Xanax)... Meaning if you take say 800mg of Tagamet 3 hours Before taking your regular Methadone dose, it will make the effects of the Methadone last longer and stronger (< not always stronger if longer acting, but by experience it does with Methadone)

But I 'think' I read that Ativan is not one of the Benzos that Tagamet (generic Cimitedine - sp?) will elongate the effects of. I'm worried since - big surprise! - I have urine drug tests every week or 2 at the Methadone clinic where they Watch it leave and enter the cup. My probation officer 10 years ago wasn't that close to me for testing! Anyways Ativan leaves the body in 7-22 hours max. I know this to be true since I've been prescribed it from my regular doctor for 8 years now. But the Methadone Clinics don't like you taking ANY benzos since 74% of all Methadone deaths are when benzos are also being taken.
So i get it.
But I'm not screwing with them. I need them. too long of an explaination why - short version, i can't breath w/o them due to a botched gallblader removal.

ok so the Methadone effects lasted all day today, the first time I tried the 800mg/daily (it also kills warts, sometimes genital warts etc after 2-3 months of 800mg tagamet taken in 2 doses a day. So i don't want to STOP taking the Tagamet!
Want to see if it indeed DOSE kill or remove this wart.
BUT.. if this means the Ativan which is usally OUT of the urine by 22 hours TOPS (I have No Liver problems, no hep C. so the usual 7-22 hours is true for me) But if the Tagamet Does affect the urine-clean-time b/c it's also a protagonist for Ativan then I'll be back to every day and lose my weekly-status... and positive twice? Might loose the Methadone clinic all together!

So remembering that not ALL Benzos arwe the same in clean time ( look up the difference between Xanax and Valium and Ativan - you'll be surprised How HUGE the difference in them is!)

Anyone have experience with Tagamet and Ativan?
And if it did or did Not change the up to 7 to 22 hours from dose to clean urine test?
OR found the Webpage that SAYS Ativan is NOT affected by Tagamet as say the Xanax is?

The sooner the better - thanks in advance people!

Is it legal to have a CAMERA, in the restroom designated for doing drug screens only? In Georgia this clinic actually has,a camera video the clients. Wtf ? How can they do this??? Second issue I was on subutex for 10 yrs and relapsed recently. Stopped the subutex and got back on methadone. I don't have withdrawals thank God but I don't feel the done at all. I'm on 45 . Any suggestions and feedback greatly appreciated. As you can probably tell I'm confused if I should do the done awhile maybe switch back to subutex later as I did stay clean on it till just recently. Honestly dude, Person who made this forum, I would ask my doctor about hydroxyzine, or a REALLY really strong pill form the same as about benadryl. I am not 100% sure if hydroxyzine will make the opiate therapeutic effects last longer I am not fully sure about. Through the grapevine I heard detox places for opiate w/d etc will give you this medication along with others to people first coming in, because in case they had used the same day coming in to detox they will reach their opiate peak much much faster and stronger.

At our clinic in FLORIDA panhandle they usually stand at the door with the door cracked. I too would like to read / see that legislation......is it by state or federal?

Could you PLEASE post a link to the legislation you're referring to ? The clinic I go to has a few overzealous dosing nurses that not only come into the restroom with you, but close the door behind them as well. It makes me soooooo uncomfortable. Thanks so very much :)

It is a federal law that no one, i repeat no one, is allowed in the bathroom with you unless it is a probation officer or correctional officer. Read it in the law books Google it if you do not believe me. They did that at a suboxone clinic and i printed the law and it was stopped overnight, no nurse doctor methadone clinic worker has the legal right to do that that is a crime. Invasion of privacy and can be sued for such actions.

I really agree with what the truth says. A person cannot just take a week off. Especially if they aren't ready to get off, or if they aren't detoxing off of the methadone. My mama always told me if u don't have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all!

This is too true! And thank you for you bluntness. Obviously this guy does not know what methadone is. Taking a week off could mean death for high dosing patients. Nougiehausermd "dude" you can't comment on something you don't have a clue about. Look methadone is a treatment drug for people who are trying to curb there addictions. Addiction is a disease and for all the critics who try and say that it's not is because they obviously have never been through it. Because you wouldn't be on here criticizing someone else for something they can't control. Yeah they may have could have not tried s*** but they did because they have an addictive personality. But for you to try to talk down on someone when you don't even have a f***ing clue about what there going through then obviously you need to "take a week off" and do your damn homework before you start on a subject that you have not a single clue about. You don't know if this person got in a bad wreck and got prescribed opiates for there pain for so many months and got addicted or what the case may be.

Who is so ignorant to advise someone to take a week off Methadone............... I too hate people who give advice on something they know nothing about...........READ AND EDUCATE YOURSELF IF YOU DO NOT KNOW FIRST HAND WHEN GIVING OUT ADVICE.............

You cannot just take a week off of methadone when you are dependant on them. thats the worst advice ive ever heard! The patient will go thru severe withdrawals.

I can't stand responses as ignorant as this one! Some people can't just "take a week off", especially methadone patients. Do some reading and educate yourself so you can stop looking like an ignoramus.

I checked the interactions and I do see the one you are listing between the Tagamet and Xanax, but no, there is nothing listed between it and the Ativan, though you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain.
