Switching From Zoloft To Pristiq
UpdatedAfter 6 yrs on zoloft it no longer helps much. I felt great for 2-3 years but know it time for a change. I had a genetic test done and my doctor decided to try me on pristiq. Reduced zoloft to 50 mg and started 50mg prestiq today. Then keep reducing zoloft. Anyways I'm freaking out about being on 2 antidepressant at the same time (serotonin syndrome) and am also scared of withdrawal symptoms from the zoloft. Is there anybody who's had a positive experience switching from ssri to snri??

Doing a gradual change by tapering up and down is normal, as long as your doctor is monitoring you to keep an eye out for any possible problems.
It should also eliminate the worst of any withdrawal symptoms, though you may still experience some nausea, diarrhea, and anxiety, according to the NIH.
Are you on any other medications?
