I am a 30 yr old with a past of opiate addiction, from hydro to oxy to H, got clean for 7 years and about a year and a half ago got a herniated disc in my back, thought I could keep my med use under control and did for months and then hooked up with old ways and now am at roughly 350-400 mg of oxy a day some prescribed most of it not and I'm at wits end here, tried the sub treatment earlier this week and was in so much pain I was basically bed ridden for two day b4 gettin back to the oxy I need to do something, the subs don't work for my pain but I'm damn near broke with this horrendous habit iv developed and would do anything to just rewind but obviously that isn't an option, I know the methadone is huge decision and really have no one to talk to about this, thinkin the methadone may be my only option now especially considering I'm on my feet 10-11 hrs a day. please help

yeah it sounds like the best fit for you. they'll start you out on 30 mgs the first day and then u can go up daily till u get to either 60 mgs or 80mgs before u have to start filling out and turning in a form to go up which takes a few days each time. But it will help w ur pain more then suboxone or subutex. Get in there quick. Do you know of a methadone clinic near you? Or will ur Dr prescribe you methadone? Sounds like ur already at a pain clinic so u can probably get it from ur Dr. Definitely cheaper route. That's gonna be ur way to go in my opinion. Especially considering you have real pain issues. I see a pain Dr but just for my benzos. He doesn't take anymore pain patients or any for that matter. I wish I could find a good pain Dr in my area. Good Luck
Hello, Chuck and Misty! How are you both? You both deserve accolades for realizing that you need help! Way to go!!
Chuck, how much Suboxone did you take? You may not have been taking enough. The daily dosage is supposed to be calculated by your doctor based on how much you have been taking of the abused drug of choice.
But yes, Methadone is said by most to be better for pain than Suboxone, so if you have legitimate pain, you may do better with it.
The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
How are things going for you, Misty?
Chuck I am so curious to see if you got on methadone. Your story is a mirror image of mine. I actually have my consult at the methadone clinic in the morning. Supposed to have first dose of methadone Thursday. I am so scared I am making a mistake but my 400mg a day of ops is about to break me in more ways than one.
