Switched From Zoloft To Celexa

I was diagnosed with postpartum depression/anxiety last month. This is the first time I have taken antidepressants...I started on Zoloft and took it for almost 3 weeks, but had bad sexual side effects, dizziness, no appetite, and I had one beer with it and it caused me to have suicidal thoughts...I felt like a robot with no emotions...so my doctor switched me to celexa. I took it for a few days and started to feel energized and happy. After a few days, I had insomnia and my emotions came rushing back...I went to the ER because I was afraid I was going to go back into depression and they told me to stop celexa and take Zoloft again. I went and talked to my doctor the next day and I felt AMAZING...I was happy and talkative and worry free. I thought it was Celexa so I asked my doctor to stay on Celexa for a while...It's been a week, and I feel ok, but have not felt amazing like I did that day. Could it have been Zoloft finally kicking in that made me feel so good? Or was it the switch to Celexa? I'm so confused...and I just want to be happy again.

What type of doctor are you seeing for this?

In many cases, PPD is caused by the severe drop in progesterone that occurs with childbirth and sometimes, rather than resorting to drugs that cause the types of side effects you're experiencing, it can be helped by supplementing back the progesterone.

However, a hormone test, preferably via saliva, would be required to determine if that's what is causing the problem.

And it's really hard to know why you felt great that one day, but not any others. What did your doctor think about it?
