Suprep Reviews (Page 21)

Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

If you do not have insurance get the magnesium citrate from your local store. It is very inexpensive. Ask your doc but two bottles should be similar to this stuff. I have no problem with the suprep but not sure why I need to tke two bottles. My outgo is completely clear after taking one bottle.

I used it yesterday. There was no discomfort, no cramping. It worked very quickly on me, 15 minutes after completing the first dose, my colon was already doing its thing. It tasted horrible, a very salty, raspberry, feet sort of taste. I couldn't find anything to disguise the flavor. I just mixed with water and chugged it. Took me about four times to get each dose down.

Same here. I took it two hours ago and feel like I could explode from all the liquids and
am concerned because it works within minutes for everyone else.

First and last time ill use Suprep.....nausea.......chills.........massive headache.Have only took one bottle and am supposed to take second anytime now.I will say it did a good job at cleaning out the pipes
But with harsh side effects.May have to take my chances with one bottle. Also had to drink bottle of magnesium citrate two hours before first dose of suprep.I've talked to people who only used magnesium citrate and nothing else.

I start my "cocktail" in 45 minutes. I feel I have done appropriate research and although I am not looking forward to it - I am looking forward to getting it over with! This is my 1st time, turned 50 last December and want to get his checked off my to-do list. My bathrooms are ready with candles, a note book, a book that I have not taken the time to finish, a heater, a little throw jacket, my cell charger and positive thoughts!! I have my music to the soul set up, laundry and dishes done! I want to thank everyone for their words of wisdom - I am scheduled for tomorrow in the am but will not know until the Dr calls me between 12 and 3 - I hope I can take the call... The bar opens at 12pm and then again at 5pm - I made peach jello and lemon/lime jello and btw, I can't stand jello... My best wishes to all going through this ~

I took my first bottle at 4:00 in the afternoon and will take the second at 3:00 in the morning. I am a real baby about consuming things I don't like but got this down relatively easily. It worked quickly and I do not have upset stomach or anything. Last time I had a colonoscopy, I used pills and was sick to my stomach all night long. This is much, much better. No problems at all! I consumed only clear liquids all day including popsicles, jello, tea and chicken broth (which was really enjoyable). I can't believe how easy it has been, especially after my last experience!

I used SUPREP for my colonoscopy. The most important things are to keep hydrated before starting the prep. TAKE THE NAUSEA PILL. It is the only way to keep that vile, horrible concoction down. When I took the next dose, the nausea pill had worn off & I started to feel nauseous from the SUPREP. I also took the advice from this forum & bought DEPENDS. As I told someone who asked how I did, I said, "This is not something you want to do every day, but you can get through it." GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Super Easy.

The Suprep was far easier than I anticipated. The day before I ate as I normally do, making certain to avoid roughage and seeds. Shoot...I ate 2 slices of pizza before going to bed at midnight.

The day of the prep I ate Peach and a little Mango Jello, some chicken broth, some iced and hot tea, some gatorade (yellow) and water.

My instructions were to take two dulcolax at 3PM, the first dose of Suprep at 5PM...and surprisingly the second dose at 7PM. I follow the instructions to the letter (though I did use apple juice instead of water to mix the suprep with.

I actually felt NOTHING until about 30 minutes after the second dose and water. I experienced some mild-moderate cramping which signaled it was time to head for the toilet.

I was expecting this to be a torture-ish all night explosion. Instead...I ejected brown liquid rather forcefully (but cleanly) for a few seconds...It reminded me of seeing a Rhino or Elephant urinate. Very impressive in amount, but effortless. I repeated that an hour later...and that was it. I woke up at 5AM as I had a 6AM checkin time. I had one more small amount of yellowish rush...but that's it. I was afraid that I didn't do something correctly as it was almost too easy. But the colon was super clean and the experience far easier than expected.

It took me about 2 1/2 to 3 hours before it started working, and then around 12 bowel movements. I still have to take the second bottle. I like this so much better than the gallon just.

I'm currently on my second dose. Did my first dose over an hour's period (Dr. recommended taking it in four 1/2 cup portions every 15 minutes.) Started feeling the effects within 45 minutes. Have gone a lot and got clear results fairly quickly in the process. Even though it's clear, I'm still doing the second dose, 4 hours later.

Just did my first colonoscopy this a.m. Like so many others have said, the prep is the worst part. I used SuPrep. Couldn't get down all of the 2nd bottle (at 2:00 a.m.!) - used about 2/3s and that was enough. After the first bottle at 5 p.m. - it started kicking in around an hour and 45 minutes later and never stopped. After about 2 hours, nothing but clear was coming out which made be assume my colon was clean. I heavily debated as to whether to take any of the 2nd bottle because could hardly keep down the first along with the 32 oz of liquid after. Anyway, i'm glad I did most of the last bottle because the nurse explained to me that although the first bottle will usually clean out the colon, your digestive tract keeps making some kind of enzymes that can interfere with the procedure so it's best to keep flushing out the colon until close to the time of the colonoscopy.
Once I got the MAC sedation, it took about a minute for me to go out and didn't wake up until I was being wheeled into recovery. No pain or cramping after however something clear was leaking out. Don't know if the doc puts something up in there besides air but the colonoscopy itself was by far the easiest part. So if there are any people out there freaking out about the procedure - don't! Just prepared to be hungry, bloated and running to the bathroom.

I took suprep for the first time today. Those people that say the taste isn't that bad, they are lying!!!!! I tried to drink it slow, then vomited! Then i tried to drink it really fast, then i vomited! I tried everything. Broth, jello, flavored water, etc. nothing worked!

Well in an a couple of hours is my first colonoscopy and the first dose was at 5 pm and I was able to do that and two 16 oz of water without a problem. After 10 minutes I was in the bathroom for about 2 hours and towards the end it was just clear liquid. My second dose was at 11 pm and was able to chug it down but after about 45 minutes I threw up. I already started pooping clear liquid again but I'm nervous this messed it up :( hopefully it will be ok. I was eating very light the two days before too so hopefully that helps. Wish me luck! I do not want to have to repeat this!!!

I read all the comments and made sure I was prepared. I guess I over prepared. I didn't have a real problem chugging the suprep. It wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't terrible either. Both times it took over an hour to get things moving. I was never confined to the bathroom for long periods of time. I was concerned I wasn't doing it right. Even after the second bottle, it was never clear (dark yellow); but good enough. The colonoscopy was fine and I don't have to do this again for another 10 years.

Can you take both doses of suprep the night before colonoscopy?

Yes. I had to take the first dose at 3:00pm and the second at 9:00pm. Your doctor will tell you what times to take it as everyone is different. I had my colonoscopy the next morning. I had to be there by 9:00 am.
