Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

used the Suprep yesterday at 6pm. was pretty much done in bathroom around 9pm. did get chilly - wrapped up in blanket and just snuggled best I could. Took second dose at 5 am for a 10 am procedure - was just a quick the second time as the first. Really did taste like watered down cough syrup - mixed with cool tap water and just chugged it down. overall not a terrible procedure. just don't get all worked up about it.

There is something called movi prep that requires a larger quantity of liquid to mix with powder and it is gross. It has no sweetener or flavor added so it does taste like thick salt water with a dash of chemical

I had my procedure today and will FOR SURE USE SUPREP next time too. I am a 30yr old single mom of two kids under 5 and this is the only way to prep. This is not my first time. I still have nightmares about that gallon of soap water normally used. Test this prep was difficult to get down but it was only a total of 12oz! Works quickly and well. Beware of the chills. Had bad chills with both preps but compared to the "regular" prep this one was a easy. Some of the scary posts on this prep are from people that have never taken the other methods of preps. From someone who has this is more preferred. Nice pleasant but preferred.

I had my procedure on Tuesday AM at 8am and began the prep Suprep on Monday evening at 5pm when I got home from work. The prep tasted like sort of like a grape cough syrup that was water down a bit. I was able to do the prep easily by using a straw and then following up with 2 16 ounce bottles of water within an hour afterword. I found the key was that you needed to be well hydrated before you started the prep. Drink plenty of fluids ahead of time and also try to eat alittle light on the day before you begin the prep. I ate chinese food the day before because I thought it would be easier to pass through my system and it was. Avoid eating heavy you will regret it. I was in the bathroom within about one half hour of taking the prep and kept returning for the next few hours frequently. I also kept liquids in my system and had some wonderful popsicles. I had to be at the hospital for my procedure by 7am so the 2nd round of prep began at 3am. I must say the 3am prep was kind of difficult to get down. It was the same prep but I think because I was not really awake and having to drink so much fluid in such a short amount of time it seemed kind of daunting. I used the straw again and even had to resort to pinching my noise. Once I downed the prep I drank the required 2 16 ounce bottles of water and within about 15 minutes to a half hour was in the bathroom off an on till about 5am. I was leaving by 630 to head to my appt and did have to use the bathroom several more times before I left and also when I arrived at the hospital. They said that is normal. The procedure itself went pretty quickly and I was very happy when it was over and I could leave. I felt fine when I left and went out for a delicious breakfast on the way home. As I mentioned earlier in the post the key things I would remember are don't eat real heavy the day before you begin the liquid part, keep well hydrated, and use a straw while you are drinking the prep. I forgot to add I too did get the chills. I didn't know if it was because of drinking the fluids that were cold or what. But I would agree with the previous posts. Bundle up with blanket or bathrobe. It wasn't unbearable but I did feel pretty chilly.

Just drank the stuff and the taste was not nearly as bad as i expected. I'm not at all concerned drinking the second bottle in four hours. At least not concerned about the taste that is.

My turn to talk about my experience with suprep with the idea of helping someone else who takes it. First of all, heard all the horror stories about the prep, scared to death of the whole thing. Avoided my colonoscopy for 8YEARS because of it. I am here to say, you will get through it. Took the suprep, mixed with ginger ale very cold but flat. Used a straw to get it down, much less of the taste of it that way. Sucked on hard candy to hide the aftertaste. Get the rest of my liquid down. I felt full, but not sick, was cleaned out with the first bottle. Recommend you stand while taking your liquids. You feel less full. Took 2nd bottle no problems. Had my colonoscopy yesterday, no issues , no polopys, no cancer. AFTER 8 YEARS OF FEAR, I did it. No nausea, no vomiting, no chills, no headaches, no cramping. I have to thank God because I know he got me through this entire process. I am thanking my doctor for suggesting the suprep instead of the other stuff. You will be ok. It helps not to eat heavy for about 2 days before you start your prep. I sooo glad I did it and know I'm ok. I lost my sister in December to breast cancer because she didn't get her mammograms, why because of FEAR. Don't let fear win, take the good suggestions on this website and go for it.

Thank you for all of the info. I just drank my first bottle with cold water. I must admit the horror stories had worried me a bit. It isn't that bad. Yes, a water chaser did help. The best advice though was the lemon to get the taste off of your tongue. With the lemon, I'd classify the drinking part as no big deal. Now, I saying that before the first toilet dash, but I can deal with that.

I took the suprep at 530 pm and I became sick as a dog. I felt like I as to throw up andi had intense stomach cramps and chills. It is now 6 hours later and still no bowel movement. Has anyone else had this problem?

6 hours seems excessive. If nothing's happened by now, I'd check with an advice nurse or an all-night pharmacy.

Chills: A warm blanket, stocking cap, heating pad or hot water bottle, or soak your feet in hot water. Maybe your hands as well.

I just completed the Suprep preparation and had a very bad experience with it. I took it exactly as instructed and got very bloated and severe abdominal cramps. NO stool at all. This was at 4:15 pm. I took the second dose at 10 pm and that is when the fun started. I became very nauseous and began to throw up, have shaking chills, feel faint and severe cramps that brought me to tears. Finally, once I started passing watery stool, I got relief from the intense cramping that had started at 4:30, continued and worsened until about 10:45.pm I do not think from reading this site that this is typical.

I'd say it wasn't at all typical. But if you felt faint (I assume it didn't happen) it does point out the high desirability of having someone else in the house that's able to keep track of you. I didn't think of it at the time, but I wouldn't have done it if my wife hadn't been home, just for the comfort it brings.

The taste wasn't as bad as I expected but, because I read many of the previous posts, I used a straw and held my nose as I sucked it down. I did taste what I perceived to be a slightly grape flavor and there was an aftertaste, which I chased away with a few sips of 7-up. Since my procedure was scheduled at 3:45 p.m., I took my first dosage at 8 p.m. after having my last meal (light breakfast) before 8 a.m. I followed my doctor's instructions completely, taking in eight ounces of fluid every two hours starting at noon. (I did drink plenty of cola and some chicken broth from noon through 7 p.m. due to hunger.) In my case, it took 1 1/2 hours before my first bowel movement, although bowel "gurgling" starting after the first 1/2 hour. After starting to go, I went and went. After about an hour of going, what I produced was more liquid. I took the second dose at midnight. Also, I drank a few ounces of 7-up afterward, again to get rid of the taste as well as 16+ ounces of water an hour later, as instructed. The second dose caused strong stomach cramps which were uncomfortable but not intolerable. I also developed a very slight headache. (I never felt the chills others have described.) The second dose caused me to gush liquids for at least three hours. I was able to get to sleep around 4 a.m. though I did get up to "go" three or four times to eliminate liquid from the rectum. The liquid became clearer and clearer but still cloudy, telling me that the Suprep worked. By 8 a.m. the next day, my bowels seemed to calm down. All in all, I'd say this, my second colonoscopy, wasn't too bad in part because of the Suprep. The amount of liquid was something I was able to handle with a bit of effort. (My memory of the first was that I had a hard time with the white liquid and the amount that had to be consumed.) I pray that the polyps found are clear and that I will not have to undergo this procedure again for the three to five weeks mentioned by the medical staff when I woke up. A correction to my first message. I was told three to five YEARS, not months, before the next colonoscopy if the polyps are clear. :-)

You did a good prep, Mailee. In my opinion, the reason people get the chills is because they chill the Suprep. My methodology is to mix it with tap water. No chills. You may (or may not) get a slight headache as you mentioned, but nobody said prepping is supposed to be fun. Sure beats the alternative! Hope your procedure found you clear.

I had an allergic reaction to Sulpha years ago, will it be ok to use SUPREP? The last time I had a colonoscopy I used a bottle of over the counter enemies, recommended by my dr. worked ok. Hope this drink works much better. Praying tomorrow's colonoscopy has better results than the last one. A good friend of mine past away with Colon Cancer so i wish you all the best!

Suprep tasted fine to me, the volume of water spread out over an hour didn't cause any discomfort. I really had no problem with any of it. I plan to buy the product again in 10 years.

Next time have a banana popsicle and after slurping with the straw (I use two), take a bite of the banana popsicle. I had no aftertaste of the Suprep.
