i AM A WHITE MALE, AGE 31, 235LBS 5' 11'' GOOD BLOOD PRESSURE.

I suffer from major depression disorder, anxiety and adult add. A new prescription was prescribed to me because i was still having some issues such as tense muscles irritability quick to anger unable to relax mild to moderate depression without suicidal thoughts at all. (Keep in mind thats a big leap from where i was at which is suicide thoughts, plans, and 1 half hearted attempt with major depression without any medication).

The new prescription burspirone I can honestly say changed my life however there are a few odd side effects that in a way kinda worry me/ curious about. I have been taking the burspirone for 3 or 4 days along with my other medications which i will list at the bottom of the page. The side effects i consider some good some bad as i am no longer depressed or suffering anxiety and am even relaxed and feel happy or atleast as close to happy as i can remember. (its been along time). So the side effects i am experiencing now that i did not prior to adding this medication are:

First side effect What i would Describe as a inhibitation of negative emotions. A few examples: the other day i came home and found my dog had got into the trash can and trash and sticky stuff was all over my kitchen floor and i wasnt mad or even upset. Today my 800$ gaming laptop breaks and i dont even bat an eye about it thinking oh well s*** happens. That seems very odd to me because my computer is a pretty major part of my life i guess. It seems i feel happy and worry free and as far as i can tell unable to feel or process negative feelings.

second side effect: I have had a very mild headache since i added the new drug. Its not bad at all alot of the time it doesnt even bother me. but it is constant.

third side effect: i seem to have a periodic simi sharp pain on my right side lower abdomen again nothing that really makes me react.

fourth side effect is lack of appetite. I am constantly feeling over full except for rare once a day feeling of extream hunger that once i start eating the full feeling comes back before im even half done.

5th Moderate constipation. I go once a day or every other day.

Last side effect and im serious not joking.... When i try to masturebate my left leg begins to shake uncontrollably until i stop.

As of right now my thinking is the way im feeling i can put up with some annoying side effects and hope they go away. I am feeling happy and carefree and nothing seems to phase that. How ever i cant help thinking that my lack of concern may also be a side effect because of the block of negative and worrysome emotions. So i wanted to get opinions preferably medical ones. the prescriptions i am taking are:

BURSPIRONE 5 MG TWICE A DAY. FOR ANXIETY.
BUPROPION HCL 150MG 2 IN THE MORNING FOR DEPRESSION AND ADULT ADD
METHYLPHENIDATE 20MG TWICE A DAY FOR ADULT ADD.
SERTRALINE HCL 200MG AT BED TIME FOR DEPRESSION
QUETIAPINE FUMARATE 50MG AT BEDTIME BECAUSE I AM UNABLE TO SLEEP CONSTANTLY WAKE UP WITHOUT IT.
OMEPRAZOLE 40MG IN THE MORNING FOR GERD.
PRAZOSIN HCL 4MG AT BEDTIME FOR CONSTANT NIGHTMARES.

@sravencross,

After taking a close look at the side effect profile for each one of those medications, I'm led to believe that all of the symptoms you had mentioned ranging from headache; pain in the stomach, side, or abdomen region; jerking extremities; lack of appetite; and inhibition of emotions, may all be associated with one or more of the following medications:

bupropion
methylphenidate
sertraline
quetiapine

I know those kinds of symptoms are not always something that comes natural, especially if you didn't flinch when your $800 computer broke Lol. I would probably be pretty frustrated if that had happened to me, but on the other hand I think it's good to not get overly worked up about it, saving your body tons of stress and negativity by choosing not to react in such a way. However you may still want to speak with your doctor about the side effects, in case you feel like you need to lower the dose a notch.

I hope this helps!
