Subutex Doctor - East Coast - Help Me Find One Please!!!! (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been on Subutex for a year. My Doctor has retired, abruptly. I cannot find another physician willing to prescribe me Subutex (24 mg. daily) instead of Suboxone. I travel a lot w/ work. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me ANY Doctor anywhere on the East Coast that prescribes Subutex. Suboxone breaks me out in horrible itchy rashes and welts, makes breathing a little difficult and gives me blinding headaches- within ten to fifteen minutes of taking it. I am serious about recovery. Can someone help?!

With Subutex you can crush it up into a power and the insulfation is much higher then putting it under your tongue. This is the main reason doctors try not to use it. And much like Methadone there are going to be all kind of new laws about dispensing it. They will go from monthly to bi-weekly to weekly. Then blood work, chest x-rays group counseling. All to make money. The doctors are making a fortune for a 10 minute visit and the poor people that take drugs, all this stress just makes it worse. Of course doctors have to be certified and attend meetings. When I first started it use to give me energy and I felt good all day, also many patients will split their dose and take half in the morning and half at night. That was when I was on 24mg, now down to 4mg, but most people say you can get down to 1mg but after that its very hard to just jump off. Anyway Suboxone, Film, Subutex I have tried them all, I don’t need any Nalaxone and it made white blisters under my tongue, so the tex was at least workable, most doctors will give a $75 Off coupon to bring to the pharmacy, but its only good for the film, seems they want the stock to go up. In ending, check the rates of where you insert your Sub, Tongue was like 2%, nose was like 11% and pushing up your butt was like 19%, Butt is called “Plugging” but thats a one way street for me so wouldn’t think of it…… So there are 3 ways other than IV that you can get more into your system and be able to use less. Hope it helps, best thing is to just get off all this stuff………

There is no such thing as a Subutex doctor…… Any doctor trained and allowed to prescribe Suboxone can also prescribe Subutex. There are a few issues. First Subutex can be abused, so most doctors try to stay with Suboxone and will even try to push the film and give you a $75 off coupon to help. Second, unless the Naloxone is putting you in danger, heath wise they will always prescribe Suboxone, giving tex put them in danger of losing their license. And they don’t want that… I can’t imagine that a doctor would retire and not send his patients to another doctor. The problem is, doctors can only have a number of Sub patients (150 I think) so people go searching as many doctors are already full. Some doctors have a waiting list, so sign up to as many as you can that are close by. When I was on it I checked my insurance, besides my $20 co-pay the doc was getting about $600 per bi-weekly visit. Pharmacy would cost me around $25 and they would charge insurance $250. Great money maker preying on people that need help. Plus very hard to get off of.

Shanna,

There is a one that is also a psychiatrist and does acupuncture and aroma therapy in Reston.

Colleen Blanchfield , M.D.
(703) 481-9111
11150 Sunset Hills
Reston, VA 20190 USA

She doesn’t take insurance directly but gives you the forms to fill out and you send to your insurance company. So as there is a limit of how many patients they can have its best to start close to home and branch out from there. Crazy to drive from WV to PA once a month, plus in the beginning it may be weekly or bi-weekly. Then get down to 1-2mg ’’’’ASAP’’’’! Even though there isn’t much feeling associated with any dose, if you are without that 1mg for more than 2 days they say its much worse and longer to get off of then Methadone, which is hard to believe. Hope you find someone, stay well….. -C

Thanks for your post. I am a recovering addict, working in NY, presently, having a hard time to get a prescription up here. Apparently many addicts and not enough docs, here, so there is a waiting list for months. Anyway, I am legit, recoverer, been on subutex for a few years, it saved my life. I can take suboxone, or subutex, prefer subutex for generic cost, and have a psych in Texas I see when Im there who knows, me, but I really just need a doc to see while up in the northeast, like I said I
can take either cause it all works but really just need someone in the next month on a friday if at all possible. I see your in NJ, is that offer still avail? THANKS

Only other doctor I've had experience with was Dr.Nabil Jabbour in greensburg also...he did prescribe TeX after I got bad side effects from suboxone...however he wouldnt let Me go above 4 mg/day...that just Didn't work for me...maybe ull have more luck with him! he never did UA's either...a friend gets TeX from Krienbrooke phsycological services(in Greensburg also...not sure if spelled correctly) but I believe they go through insurance so may be a waiting list

You can see comment from “Grace” below or the Dr. Blanchfield I posted below, but they all have a limit on the number of patients they can have at once. Plus you can’t just go in and ask for Subutex, they will usually tell you it is only prescribed to pregnant women. Plus they are very strict as they are closely monitored and seems they will be getting worse, don’t know why, there is no “High” involved at least for me when I was on it. Methadone was much better but going to a clinic once a week (if you are lucky, after daily, then weekends off) and all the pain of tests, counseling, u.a samples make it not such a viable option, unless you live next door, even then clinics close up at any time. Then leave you to drive miles in all kind of weather, no excuses. I had a friend that had to get to his clinic, it was during a huge blizzard, and he said “You just drive and I will get out and shovel snow for 30 miles each way” Both of them are like you are in prison, you have to get there, but there is always some snag or new rule. Better just to sweat it out, if you are sick. Then there are the people that want to get on just to sell on the streets, taking spots from people that really want to be helped and can’t do it on their own. Most people that are working or have a family can’t just curl up in bed for 3 weeks and say they have a cold, they need their job and family so they have to sacrifice…….

Very long drive, did you get monthly at least as most docs that give Tex make you come bi-weekly. Or may be because he was giving Ritilan also, as first the sub or Tex make me feel all right. Then the Tex made me tired and I needed to work/family so he tried Ritilan. Then dropped down on everything, so then I was depressed and tired. Started 24 mg per day Tex and 20 mg Ritilan, then went down to 4 mg per day Tex and 5mg Ritilan both of which I would cut in half-dose and do half in morning and half at night, around 7-8pm depending how I felt. Seems a lot of people split their doses so they don’t have to wait so long. I have been off for 2 months now and still feel so tired, still have to go back for UA’s but I always hear the nurses on the phone saying he is all filled up. So no chance for me to get back on, which is probably a good thing. Good Luck to you all, just get better and back on track.

Who was your DR before. Some of us probably haven't heard of him or even been there so it's worth a shot for some of us who are new to the program to know of all these DR's who will prescribe Subutex.

Wow.. taking someone off of suboxonne or subutex while they are pregnant is extremely dangerous!!! IDK what anyone thinks of you. But the stress alone might make someone miscarry! Wow. the fact that the fetus is developed means nothing if the mother can't handle the stress and metal withdrawl and gives herself a miscarriage! Don't even think about trying to come off till after the baby is born!

Boston? That's way too far away for me to have to drive. I need to be near PA or the immediate surrounding states. Thank you for the info tho. I still am looking for one close to me that will not give me a hard time about prescribing and isn't going to kick me out at the drop of a hat. I am serious about my recovery but I am an addict still and I am bound to make a mistake somewhere along the line. I'm not setting myself up for failure, just being realistic. So if anyone knows of a good one that would be fantastic. As long as they are listed there is no problem with putting their name out there. They do it all the time to advertise and they are also on the Suboxonne website along with thousands of other DR's. You simply can't call them all so narrowing it down for me would help me out tremendously. 'Thanks so much for everything.

Thanks so much! She's pretty far away but I called her and already like her. She seems very nice and just from talking to her over the phone for a few minutes I could tell she cares about her patients and wants to help them to recover. Not just make money. I'll have to think about going seriously because she is sooo far away from where I live.

i live in wv and have medicaid.. my sub dr wouldnt take it becaus he was still in residency so i had to pay for my app but for the script it had to have prior authorization through medicaid. my dr had to fill out a form and fax it to medicaid and they had to approve it and it only takes up to 48 hours so although i had to pay for the dr visit my script was completely covered. hope that helps!

Hi. My name is DS. Your messages are from a while back, but I am hoping and PRAYING you still get on here and can still help people. I know you probably got swarmed with more requests...I didnt even read on to see. Here is my situation. I moved here from NC where I was getting the Suboxone Tablet. They started me on strips, but after about 2 months, my tongue just started blistering up. Very weird. SO the doc put me on tabs. Then, I moved here and can only get strips, no exceptions, so I am forced to buy Subutex off the street which is killing me. Also, buying that way, I can normally only get Subutex and recently when I did find a Suboxone tablet like I got in NC, it caused a allergic reaction on my tongue as well. IDK if its because I havent dont them in so long or what. So, I am on the hunt to find a doc who will prescribe me Subutex. What is hurting my chances as well is that my boyfriend is also on Subutex and he also has an issue taking strips. When he tries to, he immediately gags and gets sick. So, he isnt able to hold it under his tongue long enough to absorb the medication. So of course, we want to go to the same doc and share the ride cause we know we have to travel far. But, then we look like a couple of junkies traveling from out of town, hours away, both with "issues" taking Suboxone. Truthfully, he is the only other person I have met since I got into the program who actually has a problem like me. But I am sure there are others like us. Problem is, a lot are not and they just dont want the blocker. WE DONT CARE. We just want to get better. So everytime I have tried to explain our issues to the nurse or Doc, they just roll their eyes and treat us like all the other people trying to get Subs so they can do them or sell them. Him and I have both been off opiates for over a year now and we dont even feel high on the medicines anymore anyways. We tried at first and did feel high, to be honest, but not anymore. I dont understand honestly what the problem is and why there is such a big issue, you know? I mean, some say its just a substitute and people are just trading in one addiction for another, but so what? This addiction doesnt kill you like opiates or make you ruin your life. This medication makes it so we can function normally and its wonderful. What does the government care if everyone wanted it? They are getting paid their taxes, pharmacies are booming, and the manufacturer is making more money than anyone in the world. LOL. Anyways, we can live a normal, successful and happy life with this medicine. Who can do that on H or pain pills? No one. SO, why not just give it to the people who want it? Then, there wouldnt be any selling on the street and everyone else (Doctors/Gov't/Etc.) get paid that money we are paying on the streets. So, if you can still help me, please reply and tell me what to do. PLEASE. I see you cannot put a number, but maybe a city or the name of the office so I can try to look it up? I will checking back. We have waited for months to get into clinics and twice have had to leave after driving 3 or more hours, waiting in the waiting room for several hours, just to be told they cannot write Subutex. Also, no one will tell me when I call so its just something we have to do. It seems crazy that we know so many people who get them and drive to PA for them, but by the time we get into the clinic, we get them telling us that all new patients get Subutex and current patients are slowly being changed over to it. What about us? We both work and have great jobs, we take care of our home and family. But this is starting to break us worse than doing the damn drug. And of course, the financial blows are causing arguments and tearing up our relationship. This is the first time I have gone on the internet and asked for help. Oh, we are in WV near Morgantown. I dont know where you are, but I am sure it will be worth it if you can help us please. Thank you so much Grace and I hope to hear from you soon.
DS

Id be careful with the reply from some of the people on here, and if your thinking
of going to a doctor in n jersey, (from grace), you might wanna rethink, cause if you travel, you get there he writes you a script for 20 pills, wants you back in a week, etc...no long term solution from this guy at all and he is very strange....Ive been to docs all over and atleast they hook u up with a months on first visit.
