Updated

I am taking suboxone films 8mg. I am wondering if the bottom bridge i have on my teeth effect the absortion? Will it have a reaction to the metal behind my front teeth? Idk wat to do. It doesnt seem to work same when i leave them in. Anyone know the real deal with this???? Please help!! Thanks so much in advance.

Absorbtion rates can vary for a number of reasons. Time, meaning how long bupe is held in the mouth, amount of saliva build up, and most importantly how much area is covered in the mouth area. In your case, if the dose or part of it is laying on the medal of bridge, it can't be absorbed in this spot.

What needs to be done here and anyone else dosing, is when you start to dose, use the driest mouth possible to start, but more importantly is to take the end of end or tip of the tongue and use it to spread the melting sub dose over the entire inside of your mouth. Not just under the tongue. The whole mouth. That way more surface is covered, and much more sub will be used. This is the best way for more bioavailability when dosing. As far as the bridge, id take it out when ever i could, if you can. Otherwise paint the inside of your mouth with sub and keep painting for as all as you can. This sure helped me get all i can out of my dose. Good luck....max

Hello Nikki05,

Yes it has been stated previously by other members that if the strips are not making contact with as much surface area of your mouth as possible you will lose some of the dosage. Maxx has pretty much summed up what most other users will tell you is the best way to get every bit of the active ingredient absorbed as possible.

If you make adjustments to the way that you administer the drug and still you feel like you are having issues then I would suggest you bring this up with your doctor and perhaps they have some options available to help you.

What's funny is I got dentures right before starting suboxone, and so when I first started to take my strips I did notice that even without a bottom denture in, the film would stick to the sides of the top denture. I'd take it out after a meal and still see parts of the sub not completely gone. Now remind you at this point I had gone thru the detox point of adjusting the suboxone dose to perhaps the first few months without actually noticing much of a difference.

So I think like someone said the drug gets into your system either thru you swallowing part of it after or your vain under your tongue. Now my problem is my bottom denture. The bottom denture in order for it to fit properly must cover a portion of this vein. So every morning usually when I get up (depending on where I am since I might sleep with them in if I'm somewhere else with someone and when I'm home alone take them out the night before)... But I always make sure to remove both before I take my sub.

Now just something I got in my head is that I'll completely waste a sub and won't feel ANYTHING even though I know in the past I had. At least the top. But any bottom denture wearers or even partial or anything removable I'd say remove it before you take your sub. That way you can be 100% sure you're not hindering anything. One question is the mouth supposed to be dry? Bc I always drink something before taking my sub, as I hate the dryness of your mouth when it's trying to dissolve and it's just sitting there for 40 minutes. It feels like waiting for it to dissolve so I can put my dentures in and start my day. But looking back I'd rather do this every day of my life than deal with 1 day of drug addiction. So pros and cons. It's annoying when it cuts your bottom of your tongue but it's manageable compared to addiction.
